stop making up bullshit excuses for Layne.  "it's the grip"  ::)

I'm with Sev on this.  either he is one of the strongest pullers for his weight the world has ever seen, or he is on something

What excuse am I making for him you fuckin moron?

All I'm saying is that him pulling without straps isn't putting him at a disadvantage. If his grip always failed him at higher weights then you'd have a point.

If I had to adjust my straps in the deadlift before pulling I'd pull 100lbs less. You can't 'grip and rip' with straps.

Cant speak for what Laynes status is but I have a friend who is natural NO QUESTION and hes pulled 700. So its possible. Hes 100x thicker than Layne though and looks as strong as he lifts. Some of his lifts 635 squat x 4, 315 bench x 20, 150 incline db x 7, 495 front squat x 3. Hes around 25, sickest genetics ever. Commence with the calling of bullshit on this 3...2....1

 ;D

Maybe I'm missing something but there are a number of videos on Youtube of 315 for 20+ reps with decent form.  Not sure how many are clean trainers but it's certainly not an impossible feat.

Sure, but he's 17 years old! Look at the WPC juicer meets in Finland. How many of them have this kind of deadlift strength? Lots of fat guys and lots of juice but not many of them could do this.

that was the point, it was supposed to be natural....

anyway 20 reps is a lot epic muscle condition etc,,,

i found 2 videos (not numbers of videoes) that were up to snuff, first does 20reps second does 14 reps...very good no doubt

LMAO that retard probably pulls some mad pussy.  He's borderline fucking retarded.  Probably eats doritos all day and plays modern warefare.....Ask him to run on a treadmill for 5 minutes and he'd probably collapse.  What's the point of lifting all that weight when you look like the the pilsbury doughboy.

Leafy, STFU you little liberal homo, I was in your state not more than a month ago, I should have hunted your lanky ass down and see if you had anything to say then. F**kin Obama loving communist.
So anyone who doesn't agree with you is automatically an Obama loving libby communist? I wish you would have stopped by. I can picture a midget windmilling his arms now with my hand on his forehead. Maybe if you do a line of coke before hand you might spin them faster.

23yr old in Ireland at around 225-235lbs deadlifted well over 700lbs. he was 6'3 tall and had arms like a monkey.

Layne has long arms and is a great deadlifter. I'd believe him that he is natural no reason to doubt him. Also is he not approaching 30 years of age by now?

...has anyone considered that Layne might be using 15kg/33lb or maybe even 10kg/23lb plates that just happen to look like 20kg/45lb plates?

Eight plates at 230 lbs bodyweight?

At that strength level wouldn't he be benching 450 and squatting 600... all for reps? I somehow doubt Layne Norton is on a par strength wise with a best ever Mike Francois.

Eight 15kg/33lb plates each side; totaling 575lbs/260kg seems more believable at his bodyweight.

Hell, even eight 10kg/23lb plates each side; totaling 400lbs/180kg is pretty good.

If memory serves, Alex23 is the only person on here who has vouched for Norton's strength, claiming to have witnessed such feats firsthand.

Is Alex23 the type of person who would start such an urban legend?

Sri Chimnoy? Anyone?

Great deadlifters generally are not great bench pressers. Long arms etc don't help on the bench press.

layne has competed in PLing meets so I think its safe to say teh plates he uses are legit The Luke.

Layne Norton (220) deadlifted 690 pounds raw at the APA Indiana Powerfest on September 19 in Wheatfield, Indiana. The pull gave Norton the third spot on the Powerlifting Watch Lifter Rankings. He added a 570 pounds squat and 275 pound bench press to total 1,535 pounds.

Norton is still recovering from a torn pec. His opening deadlift was 625 pounds and his second, 675 pounds, before he pulled 690 pounds.
