Attn Getbiggers: Obama speaks out on steroids this morning!
By Ben Pershing (Published Today)

Sen. Barack Obama appeared to take a swipe at Sen. John McCain's activism on the subject of steroids in sports this morning, suggesting that the topic should not be a high priority for Congress or the federal government.

Appearing on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning" program, Obama did not mention the Arizonan by name. But the Democratic presidential nominee did make clear that he would steer a different course than McCain has in the past when he was asked "how much government should be involved with sports and performance-enhancing drugs."

"I gotta admit that seeing a lot of congressional hearings around steroid use is not probably the best use of congressional time," Obama said

McCain has long been closely identified with efforts on the Hill to expose steroid use in baseball. In 2004, when McCain was chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, his panel held a high-profile hearing on the subject, and McCain's scrutiny helped force Major League Baseball owners to implement a new drug-testing policy.

McCain said the following year that the league "can't be trusted" to handle the issue on its own, and threatened to write legislation cracking down on performance-enhancing drugs. A House committee also held highly-publicized hearings on steroids in baseball in 2007.

But Obama suggested this morning there were more important things on which the government should focus.

Pollster.com uses an aggregate collection of all poling data to reach an estimation on where this election is going.

All summer they had it very close.  In early September, they had McCain leading by 20 electoral votes after choosing Palin.  Then, as the economy got worse and Palin showed herself to be less and less prepared to hold office, undecided voters started choosing Obama.

This is where we stand today.  A candidate needs 270 votes to win the job.

Obama is not winning North Carolina.  The polling is very skewed on the internals and they way over sampling democrats in these things.

Look at the internals of these polls and you will see that they are polling dems a lot more than reps and are polling registered voters vs. likely voters.

At this point in 2004 many people had Kerry ahead when in the end it turned out otherwise massively by 2 million votes.  Even on election day many pollsters thought Kerry was going to win based on the exit polling.  Look how that turned out.

This race is going to be very tight and all McCain has to do is hold the Bush 2004 states to win.  Colorado and Ohio are the keys.

Finally someone uses common sense! McCain  on this issue probably has the "say it Ain't So, Joe" outlook on sports, he and his constituents believe that  pro sports stars and pro sports  have to remain squeaky clean, because they rep' the All American boy image, and kids look up them. Well, hell, the Easter bunny and Santa Claus aren't real and Pro sports in about (mostly grown) men outdoing one another is a very physical and laborious event. And it's expected for them to do everything within reason to win---competition is only natural. That level playing field is for the birds and Commies.  It's time for Americans to wake up out of that dream world that everything is squeaky clean.

Believe what you want.  North Carolina is being over sampled by the pollsters for dem voters.  This race is not going to be a blow out or landside as may of you seem to think.

Its going down to the wire and will be decided in either CO or Ohio.

If Obama wins either of those, its over.    If McCain wins PA , he is going to win.

333386,

I'm sorry if you feel the results aren't accurate, but every single poll in these changed states had it tied, then a 1 or 2 point lead, and now some of them have inched up to 8 or 12 points.

Penn:
http://www.pollster.com/polls/pa/08-pa-pres-ge-mvo.php

At this point in 2004 many people had Kerry ahead

Sorry - 5 weeks out from the 2004 election, Bush had a healthy 5% lead in Gallup.

You can say "many people", but the aggregate polling data at pollster.com includes all the major polls, and they're all saying the same thing.  FOX news even has obama up by 8 in Penn.

Go check out Zogby.

There is no polling outfit that has had aperfect record.  Some get it better in certain years than others.

BTW - many other outfits had Kerry up at this point.  Google it for yourself.

I hope the liberals think they have this in the bag since the GOTV will paly a much bigger role in the end.  Also, Gore picked up six point in the last two weeks due to the DWI issue,  only Zogby picked that up.

I have no doubt Huessein is ahead at this point, but is is far from over and anyone who thinks it is should only remember election day of 2004 when the exit polls pointed to a huge Kerry vitctory.

Did you just realize that mccain is very low on campaign $?

Once people realize he's going to lose, they stop donating, and it's a self-fulfilling prophesy.

There are currently NO polls that have mccain ahead.  None are even close.

Polls are not elections.

Its the same as thinking the Angels were supposed to be the best and the Cubs were supposed to be the best.  Well, look at how that turned out.

Until the election is held, the polls are just guesses.

You also have the fact that many of these polls are based on landlines and many people simply dont have landlines anymore.  Many operate off of cell phones.

This has been discussed before.

Biden was all over the news with the baseball congressional hearings.  Biden is as big of an anti-steroids in sports guy as is McCain and Biden was one of the leaders urging congressional hearings.

Biden and obama disagree on many issues, just as palin and mccain admit they do.

The name at the top of the ticket is the shot caller.
