Impossible. You can't create a thriving economy by regulating the shit out of industries, taxing them so much they move to other countries that kill jobs,  kill job creating projects based on "climate change" mandate a penalty for not having health insurance and whole host of other bullshit. The economy started rolling almost the DAY Trump started reversing all of that. THIS is common sense.

The economy was rolling for the 6 years prior to Trump taking office.  75 months of continual job growth.  Unprecedented.  The last two years of Obama produced more jobs than the first two years of Trump.  Syria anyone?

Dude, it was the slowest economic growth almost in history. It would have literally grew faster if he would have just let it alone.

No sir.  In fact, if you take out the 1st 13 months of Obama's term which was beyond fucked thanks to Bush, his numbers are historically great.  2015-2016 = more jobs than 2017-2018.

In terms of economic growth (as Coach mentioned), the Obama years were the worst for GDP growth post-WWII.
The Obama administration called it "the new norm."

Every recession prior to the one that ended June 2009, was followed by significant economic growth.

"Over that span, we've had 10 previous recessions and 10 previous recoveries. According to the federal government's
own Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), average real (inflation-adjusted) GDP growth in the first three years after those
recessions was 4.6%."

Recovery could have been swifter and more robust had he only had any willing partners on the other side.

It's common sense.  A new president doesn't deserve credit or blame for what goes on in their 3-6 months in office.  Sometimes even longer.  I'll give him credit for not fucking up 2017.  But his actions in 2017 are what have us heading toward the edge of the cliff.

No sir.  In fact, if you take out the 1st 13 months of Obama's term which was beyond fucked thanks to Bush, his numbers are historically great.  2015-2016 = more jobs than 2017-2018.

You just contradicted yourself there, AbrahamG.  Besides, you know very well that Clinton was the one responsible for three recessions, two of which happened while Bush was in office.

Trump is really not helping here, the last recession was during a GOP pres, looks like the cycle will continue. Regulation helps in some respects, your views are too simplistic Joe, it's not black or white.

This trade war is really effecting the markets, this whole year was a wash, zero gains and it looks like the ten year bull market is entering into bear territory thanks for Trump's actions.

Tax buts for big corps don't work, they add it to their bottom line, trickle down doesn't work.

Neither Trump nor Obama has or had much to do with the financial market cycle.

It is by definition, cyclical.

I’ve said it before. Aside from the Fed screwing up by raising rates,  This drop is intentional and another way to go after Trump

No contradiction at all.  2009 belongs to Bush.  2017 belongs to Obama.  Glad to have cleared things up for you.

Wrong, and you know it.  Stop playing dumb.

"President Clinton's tenure was characterized by economic prosperity and financial deregulation, which in many ways set the stage for the excesses of recent years. Among his biggest strokes of free-wheeling capitalism was the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, a cornerstone of Depression-era regulation. He also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which exempted credit-default swaps from regulation. In 1995 Clinton loosened housing rules by rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods."

Why the Fed raised rates

The U.S. economy added just 155,000 jobs in November, falling short of analysts’ expectations. But the Fed maintained a fairly optimistic view of economic conditions in its statement, noting that “job gains have been strong, on average, in recent months.” GDP growth is solid and at 3.7 percent, the unemployment rate is still low by historical standards.

Though most workers haven’t gotten a raise in the past year, annual wage growth (3.1 percent) is higher than it’s been in nearly a decade. Even though the labor market is said by some experts to be approaching full employment, there are still plenty of positions left to fill.

“Employers are forced to compete more for workers and that’s what is driving the wage growth so much higher,” says Sean Snaith, director of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Economic Competitiveness. “t’s not out of control wage growth, but it is the fastest that we’ve seen to date in this recovery and I think it’s really consistent with a tightening labor market.”

Inflation is near 2 percent and the Fed thinks it will remain below that target in 2019. But FOMC members didn’t hesitate to raise rates in an effort to continue normalizing interest rates and prevent prices from rising too fast in the future. In a press conference following the December meeting, Jerome Powell also noted that rates this year were raised more times than expected because the economy was stronger and healthier than expected.
