Side note, I read it was the equivalent of only 21 tons of TNT, and did that much damage, am I reading that right?  The fucking atomic bombs we dropped were multi-megaton bombs correct?  Man, that had to be some shit to witness.  All few seconds you actually saw before being vaporized like a fucking e-cig.

Yeah. Hiroshima was 15kt or about 700x more energetic.

The Soviet Tsar Bomba was 57mt or 2.7 million times more energetic.

Also, the speed of a nuke is breathtaking, this explosion was lethargic by comparison.

Guess they used a parachute to slow the bomb's descent, give pilot time to clear out. Still not sure if the footage is legit or older stock stuff.

Series of explosions rocks Texas oil field chemical supplier

CONROE, Texas (AP) — A series of explosions rocked an oil filed chemical supply company north of Houston on Friday, setting off a fire that sent a broad, dense column of thick, black smoke towering into the otherwise blue skies.

DrillChem said no one was in the plant on the eastern fringe of Conroe, about 40 miles north of Houston, at the time of the explosions. Authorities said they knew of no one who was injured in the explosions or blaze that erupted about 4:30 p.m. Firefighters took about two hours to bring the fire under control.

"The facility was empty at the time of the fire and we are thankful that no injuries have been reported," said DrillChem CEO Brandon Hayes in a statement. "We are working closely with local authorities to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage."

Units from several fire departments and a hazardous-materials team were at the scene. Residents up to 2 miles from the fire site were told to remain indoors. By nightfall, the alert had been reduced to a half-mile radius before being lifted completely about 7:30 p.m.

New explosions and fire in Tianjin send smoke into the sky


Tianjin, China (CNN)New explosions rocked Tianjin on Saturday at the site of a previous chemical warehouse fire and explosions that killed dozens in China this week, state media reported.

Fire has reignited there, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky, according to Xinhua news agency.

Authorities evacuated all persons within three kilometers (1.8 miles), Beijing News reported, citing Armed Police. CNN has reported at least one disaster recovery shelter located within the new evacuation radius.

The original spectacular blasts on Wednesday, one of which was the equivalent of more than 20 tons of TNT exploding, left at least 85 dead, more than 700 injured and thousands homeless, officials say.

Flames had appeared to be largely extinguished by Friday, but residents were still worried about lingering contamination after the previous, spectacular explosive fires at the chemical warehouse.
