Fedor represents the best amongst current fighters, undoubtedly. Notwithstanding, he cannot claim the title of greatest combatant ever because there is a rock that he would need to remove for him to achieve that: Mister Rickson Gracie, who is the de facto greatest fighter ever, having 450 professional wins with no defeats.

Also, I believe that Wanderlei Silva in his prime when he fought at PRIDE would defeat Fedor. After all, he did knock out Clinton "Rampage" Jackson in a couple minutes. Saying that Wanderlei knocked him out is an euphemism: Silva almost killed him.

he let AA got some comfort by throwing the 1st punch. waited for AA to drop his guard, and then AA was dropped.

You make an excellent point. Fedor's 30-1 record is impressive - no doubt;
however, it hardly compares to the unprecedented record of 450-0 set by Rickson.

And yes, it is unfortunate that Silva's skills have diminished to such an extant that he is no longer considered a top-tier light-heavyweight. If anyone could have given Fedor a challenge it was Wanderlei.

i only just started following fedor, but it seems like in a lot of his fights he looks like he's losing for a while only to suddenly find that one opening and dive on it. he ate a lot of punches but then none of them really shook him, he just waited for arlovski to open up and when he did, boom.

I think you are wrong. wrestlers are very good at taking down and get the right position on the ground.Its very important for jujitsu.
