Title: WEEKLY NFL TALK
Post by: blinky on October 08, 2006, 04:47:52 PM

talk about any game, player or anything NFL that takes place week to week

The Jets got sodomized by the jags, but atleast the Giants looked good against the Redskins.

I saw the Philly/Dallas game and it looked as though Bledsoe didn't play that well because his o-line didn't really do a great job of giving him the time to throw the ball to Owens or Glenn.

When will Bledsoe ever learn? I was at Foxwoods so I didn't see the games but I just caught the highlights on ESPN and all of Bledsoe's picks were ridiculous. Will he ever learn to not just heave the ball up in the air when he's pressured?

You'd think after all these years he'd learn something about not throwing an interception.  ::)

Yeah he doesn't know his receivers...I still don't know why Dillion was pulled..he was fine and running hard. I think they may be saving him. I'd like to thank the Bears for crushing the Bills early so that AFN switched to the Pats game..watching on CBS sportsline is infuriating.

Looked to be holding his arm when he walked off the field. Most likely didn't want to chance him getting hurt. I think it may be more than that hh6. Brady made some really really bad throws yesterday. behind guys, in the dirt, overthrows. He just looked like something was bothering him. he looked tenative on his throws. They still got the Win and Miami is always an ugly win. If Brady had played better they would have won by 23. The defense played great. I hope he gets back to "bradyesqe" form for by the Buffalo game. This Pats team is impressive. When they get that passing game sorted out they will be very complete. Sick running game, great defense, great special teams and when Tom and the passing game hit there stride they will be a force.

This bi week will hopefully rest Tom up and let him sort out things. Ill take 4 and 1 tho 8)

I guess u saw first hand....I didn't want to hear about his arm. I would love to know why he's been on the damm report since 04'. I think that this is something more serious then just a season type injury. He's been like this for awhile ...it just hasn't effected him. We'll never find out..BB doesn't let anything slip. Glad to hear all else seemed good. I only got the second half. The D seems back to the bend but don't break. I think we'll be fine. I think we have an easy shot at 12 wins..be nice to knock off the Dolts or bears..I'm still not convinced about Grossman

The "dolts" have big problems. They cannot stop the run. They have no running game of there own. The jags and the bears are the two to worry about.

I feel very confident about the Pats. The running game is superb. The defense is very good. Great lines both on d and o. Special teams has been very good. Just need to get the passing game on track. It will come. Brady is playing like shit and they are still winning convincingly. They are scoring points so it can only get better. I cannot wait until he starts firing on all cylinders. I will take 4 and 1 any day of the week tho. No complaints here. Just need to fine tune the pass and we are super bowl capable.

Oh by the way. In  the above post I was talking about Dillon walking off field holding his arm. That is why they took him out. Did not want to risk it. Brady looked like there was something bothering him. His release looked tenative. The bi shold give him some solid time to heal up if there is a problem.

It was a great game yesterday. Harrington looked pretty good. The Miami D is very good. Pats got it done. All that matters.

I'm watching the Bucs take it down the field to win it against the bengals.  It's like 3rd and goal, i'm jumping up and down yelling at the tv...

suddenly "due to contractual obligations" they cut out of the game and take us to the Miami/Jets 1st quarter snoozefest.

I still haven't see how they pulled it out.  monster suckiness.

I had fun watching Palmer lose to the struggling bucs. Haha he was talking shit after the Pats destroyed him. Sacked him 5 times in one quarter. Totally shut down the "best offense in football" and ran ALL over them. Brady was playing like dogshit and they still whaled on them all game. People where calling Palmer cocky when he was not a gracious loser after they got spanked by the Pats. This should ground him if he already wasn't.

The Broncos are a GREAT team. No offense to the Denver fans / people on here. But every time they show a fan on TV it is some white haired old geek or tool bag in hiking gear who looks more at home in a ll bean catalog than a football game ??? What is the deal with that?

I would think a city with as good a team as Denver would have more hardcore fans.

A pending Raider win is key to Green's firing & a bette coach in Arizona. Arizona's new offensive coordinator will be an improvement, but hopefully this will happen after Green's gone. ;)

So much for that theory-the Colts have proven they were right in getting new RBs, their line's looking good as is the kicker. Combine that with added experience and they might have their most solid team by the time the playoffs arrive.

That is not a theory, They have improved their running game yes. But they have had problems stopping the run every game including today against the skins. They have had defensive problems all season. They have a good team but it is not as good as the Colts teams of past years. They have yet to be tested defensively by a very good team. All of there wins aside from the texans game(who are terrible) has been by 3 points or less (not counting today against the skins). That is a low margin for a team with the offensive weapons they posses. That secondary has yet to be tested . That will be done by Denver and the Pats. If they can improve the defense as a whole you may be right. but they do have alot of holes you do not see becuase they have not played anyone to expose them yet. Denver should be a good test for them. There defense lost a few jey players also. They are not as strong as colts teams of the recent past. Couldent win in the big game then and I do not think they will this year either. Manning mad a fantastic throw today to Harrison. They do have a very high powered offense I must admit! They also have some great recievers. I agree Vinatari is a GREAT clutch kicker. His one weakness is kickoffs.

The Patriots passing offense had a huge game today. Brady made some beautiful throws. Gabriel and Jackson looked great today. Finally have there timing and made an impact. The running game is excellent with Dillon and Maroney. The secondary has been playing well. The defense is very good as a whole. The d line is one of the best if not the best front 4 in the league. The offensive line is also very good. Special teams has been  playing well also.

I honestly think with he improving passing game the Pats are one of the most balanced if  not most balanced team in the league. They where really only missing the pass. The offense was very good and they where winning and scoring points. But they needed the passing game to improve to spread the field. Brady was not playing well and limited time with the receivers was hurting them. But today showed what they can do when things are clicking. It will only get better also.

5 and 1 with a tough vikings game next week!

You've basically admitted that all major concerns-o-line and RB, are over, leaving only the defence. Not that this is a small matter, but you don't seem to comprehend that there are no great teams out there, all are flawed. This is clearly the best Colt's team yet, given the added experience-past playoffs don't support your supposition about their past excellent i'm afraid.  ;D

Their main problem in the past was psychological IMO. With their experience now and a better kicker they're potentially a better team in the post season, not the regular season, unless the defence really lets them down.

Follow your own advice and STFU. ;D

When Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green fired offensive coordinator Keith Rowen just 12 hours after the Cardinals blew a 20-point lead to the Chicago Bears, the implication was clear: Rowen was calling the plays when the Cardinals went Rick Santorum-conservative in the second half, and Green blamed Rowen for the Cardinals' loss. But Don Banks of SI.com reports that some in the league are saying Green was behind the horrendous decision to keep giving the ball to Edgerrin James.

Rowen is said to believe that he has been wrongly damaged by his firing/demotion, and wants to bring to light the fact that he wasn't calling plays for the Cardinals as their collapse unfolded Monday night. According to a league source close to the situation, Green took over the play calling at times from late in the second quarter on, after Arizona had built a 17-0 lead. The source said it was Green's plan heading into the game -- providing the Cardinals had a lead to protect -- to run Edgerrin James from a power formation, with two tight ends and two running backs, for much of the second half in an attempt to eat the clock.

Rowen has filed a grievance against the team, saying he was actually fired and not demoted and should therefore be allowed to collect his salary while staying home for the next 10 weeks. In any event, even if the offensive coordinator is calling the plays, the head coach is standing there with a headset on listening to the calls. If Green wanted to change the calls, he could have. He chose not to. If Rowen is out of a job, Green should follow him out the door.

I was there. It was 2 true int's.... 3 of those balls where tipped. Still NO excuse for there playtonight. None. They had about 1000000 penalties. When Harrison went down both are starting safety's where out. No way to stop that offense with them missing. The officiating was really bad to say the least. But that is not the reason we lost. We played sloppy football tonight. They made us pay. That call on troy Brown was the stupidest call I have ever seen. But no excuses. The colts played a better football game and deserved to win. I am surprised they only lost by 7. With that many fucking penalties Its a wonder they got any points....

Congrats to the Colts they played a good game.  I cannot believe how bad the pats played :-\

Ps Harrison had a incredable catch tonight props to him on that.
