Title: Watched RUSTY JEFFERS CD: How to Pose Like a Pro! Good stuff.
Post by: The True Adonis on October 18, 2006, 09:00:16 AM

I won the best posing prize in the Mr. Getbig and received the DVD,How to pose like a Pro,yesterday/
I have to hand it to Rusty,

He gave informative instruction but something else was apparent.  His Charisma.  He had Jezebelle and I laughing with his enthusiasm and good-hearted nature.  Its a shame he has been overlooked all these years.Because he could be very entertaining with the right direction. He is well-spoken and hillarious.  So much better personality than that mute refrigerator Cutler.

I still think he should have won the Masters Olympia Champ this year.

Nice dig at Chick and stop lying about Jezebelle. Her contract with you doesn't include watching DVD's. Her only contractual obligation to you is pretending to be your girlfriend on message boards.

He remarks at how dancing SHOULD NEVER be part of the routine.

I wish other PROS would watch and take note of this DVD.

Rusty!!! Are you new to the boards? If so, welcome to Getbig! If not, well, why don't you post more often?

I think Rusty is one of the most important pro bodybuilders right now because he has an impeccable physique and displays it in bodybuilding's truest art form. He's a great inspiration and I hope I'll be able to pose like him one day. "Raising the roof" isn't exactly what I call a display of talent.

Here's my favorite posing routine of Rusty from the Charlotte Pro 2005.

Thanks to everyone who purchased and learned something from the DVD, it was unreal how hard we worked on that damn thing.  My hope is that bodybuilding routines will become something that is really  mesmerizing, more like artwork, so not only bodybuilders, but for anyone to truly appreciates what you're doing...  A string of mandatories or a dance routine isn't my idea of showing all the hard work I've done and should have some heart and soul to it. It should just speak for itself.  When you walk offstage, people should say "shit, that was inspiring" or "now, THAT was cool"  It's sad when even big names just string together mandatories, I know I expect more when I watch as a spectator  I'm coming out with training tapes soon, we're filming now...watch on the website for when it's available.  I don't get on these boards but every maybe 6 months or so..just not enough time, but a friend sent me the blog on the pics we took last week, so I decided to check in.  See ya at the Ironman!

I think you have a ton of charisma too Rusty.
Keep up the good work and show them how its done.  By they way, we all still consider you the 2006 Master`s Champion.

I agree.  Rusty Jeffers IS what Pro BB should be about in regards to stage presence, posing, presentation and physique.

 Amazing!

He is a cool guy, secure in himself. He goes to a few gay events here and there (he is straight) and poses for pics, sings autographs and puts up with adoring fans. I have never heard a bad word about him.

I saw him not 3 days ago training at certain Arizona gym at night.  I was doing 75lb DB incline presses and Rusty was using 70lb for side laterals.  :'(  He trains quickly about 1:30 secs between sets and was all business.  He busted out a few poses between sets, the kind where you kneel on one leg and open your fist in the double biceps, and it was fluid and good I knew it had to be him.  He ended the work by doing cardio with his wife.  I didn't bother him or anything, but I am sure he was thinking "Oh God! This guy recognizes me!" haha

Chic is my buddy but I do admit Rusty looked allot better than he did that night.  Rustys body is pleasing to look at, while Chics is a little too bulky and his legs are odd.  Rusty defintiely got ripped off that night.

Rusty has always been one of the best posers in the business and didn't realize he had a posing DVD out!

Good posing is truly an art and can turn a smaller mediorce bodybuilder into a giant killer.

I had never heard of Rusty until last year when I saw the NY Pro.  I couldn't believe how smooth his posing was.  it looked like art.  Compared to a guy like Ronnie, who bumbles across the stage, trying not to fall down, you really see where BBing no longer has the theatrical selling point it used to, in its champions.

Thanks!  I personally think that the posing routine is where you set yourself apart.  Most string together mandatories...(yawn)  I want to inspire as Mentzer, Zane, Corney and Arnold inspired me.  One of my favorite moments was after a prejudging as I walked to my car with my wife and a group of people in unison yelled..."Mentzer LIVES!!"    I could have placed dead last and I would have gone home happy.

I actually thought Hans posed pretty classic himself.

Yes, posing is underrated. Rusy looks like a good poster, however you need more than good posing to win a show.

No doubt. There are so many little things that can make or break a pose. I haven't seen Rusty's DVD but he probably talks about a few of them.

5th place seems to be the "screwed over" place... first Mentzer and now Jeffers.. what the fuck??!11!??

Rusty's posing CD is excellent and much needed.  If other pros posed anywhere near as artfully as Rusty does, pro shows would have much greater entertainment value.  But the CD is probably primarily directed to amatuers who're still learning the art of posing.  If it's been reviewed in any of the magazines, though, I haven't seen it.  C'mon bb mag editors, this may be one of the most helpful CDs now on the market.

Not like this totally applies but that whole 5th place rule is interesting......that's what took Hans over the edge in 2001...5th place.

I worked for weeks on that damn DVD and it isn't aimed at only amateurs....there are a lot of pros who are amateur posers...that's not meant to be a smack, it just means presentation is all you have to bring to the stage,,,no one cares how much you bench or how much you squat..this is what we use to show all the work, it's a shame it's not given more thought...when I think of the old timers, that was what was their trademark,,,not a string of mandatories.  The DVD does take you through everything from basic quarter turns, through mandatories, some advanced type of posting also, but it is aimed at anyone who wants to do the basics well, which evidentally is given the most weight.
