I was told by a nutritionist/health consultant that she doesnt beleive in creatine because it can possibly cause tears in cardiac tissue because of how creatine works. So not only do your bis and pecs get the volumize effects but your heart muscle also volumizes with water etc and has the potential to damage the tissue. Is she correct?

Every muscle in the body is affected by the creatine. The hart is a very dense strong muscle, I could see minor ruptures happen with high dosages of creatine.
I wouldn't use creatine anyway. It's usually used to overcome plateaus but that can be done with some smart motivational tricks aswell. So that leaves an expensive bloating powder ;D

That's a pretty serious charge. I wouldn't take it seriously without seeing a legit study. To my understanding, studies to date have not indicated that creatine use presents substantial adverse health effects.

I am not one for Gimmick products either but man I swear by creatine. In a month of getting back on Creatine after not taking it for 8 years my bench, curls..heck everything went up considerably. So..don't know about the cardiac tissue tears but as far as performance enhancement it has got to be near the top. minus gear of course.

I'd ask her to point you in the direction of that information. The heart muscle and skeletal muscle system are totally different kinds of muscles. The uptake and pooling of creatine (taken at normal levels) in the heart is MINOR. In fact, in a few studies of people with congestive heart failure, those who took creatine (albeit intravenous) (in addition to standard medical care) had significant improvement in symptoms and exercise capacity compared to those who received placebo. Also, some studies have shown that creatine can help reduce your chances of heart disease and adult on-set diabetes.

it sounds kinda ridiculous to me...

Interesting. Thanks for the info. It didnt stop me from taking creatine, haha, but I was curious. She also works for a supplement company so she was probably just trying to get me away from stuff that I wouldnt buy from her.

source of these claims please.
WIth all dietary supplements, there are a lot of unknows in regards to long term health factors. Most if not all of these studies have not been conducted by independant labs. They are typically done by the same labs that manufacture and sell these products, so you tend to get biased reviews and studies. Call it bushisms.

Yeah, like I said she has her own agenda working for Shaklee but in the same hand she is a health freak herself so I just wanted to clear things up, and no she didnt provide me with a source for her info, it was a very informal consultation.
