I was told by a nutritionist/health consultant that she doesnt beleive in creatine because it can possibly cause tears in cardiac tissue because of how creatine works. So not only do your bis and pecs get the volumize effects but your heart muscle also volumizes with water etc and has the potential to damage the tissue. Is she correct?
That's a pretty serious charge. I wouldn't take it seriously without seeing a legit study. To my understanding, studies to date have not indicated that creatine use presents substantial adverse health effects.
I'd ask her to point you in the direction of that information. The heart muscle and skeletal muscle system are totally different kinds of muscles. The uptake and pooling of creatine (taken at normal levels) in the heart is MINOR. In fact, in a few studies of people with congestive heart failure, those who took creatine (albeit intravenous) (in addition to standard medical care) had significant improvement in symptoms and exercise capacity compared to those who received placebo. Also, some studies have shown that creatine can help reduce your chances of heart disease and adult on-set diabetes.
it sounds kinda ridiculous to me...
she has her own agenda working for Shaklee but in the same hand she is a health freak herself
me too. Im still going to take my creatine.
maybe the heart tears are a metaphor... do you find creatine emotionally stressful
