Post by: bigally on November 07, 2006, 05:47:49 PM
I need assistance.............

1.  What is the best supplement to purchase to maximize the pump during workouts?

2.  Is there a supplement to induce/heighten vascularity?

thanks.................. ..................

Why?  Are you expecting better growth with a pump and vascularity?

For Number 1 start with some creatine and dextrose, the rest is about the quality of your workout.

Lo body fat and big muscles are what will give you vascularity.  Lay off the dairy and wheat, they both will cause you to subcutaneously hold water under the skin and their goes the vascularity.

super pump by gaspari (has arginine in it)  Also lower body fat will increase the vascularity

pure aminos worked well for me...better than any "pump promoter"

Animal pump worked well for me, ON also has a new product out that I will try called Vassive NO.  You can always try creatine/arginine both can be bought very cheaply.  I would not expect to much acuall growth from any pump product(with creatine being the exception but I am more reffering to arginine based products.)

a late response...........Actua lly, gaining size had nothing to do with my question.  I simply wanted to see if my pump....lets say during an arm workout can be maximized.  Do not laugh but....setting aside the obvious important workout/cardio/diet answer I wanted to bring up the veins in my arms.....yes like I said don't laugh.

I train hard and properly, but recently I havent been getting much of a pump.. anywhere.

Is there anything I should/shouldnt be eating prior to the gym.

I finish eating a combo of white/brown rice & steak, few veges an hour before the gym. I have creatine, glutamine, with say orange juice a half hour before also

Am I doing anything wrong??

If your muscles are flat and get no pump your low on carbs. Eat a bagel 40 mins before you go and eat fruit driving to the gym. You'll get your pump back then. Also if you have this, use Vanadyl Sulfate 40 mins prior as this will really help gorge the muscles with blood. (Bagels have around 73 gms. of carbs) ~ peace.

Man, I'm usually craving for food in the morning. Don't think I could handle a workout without food.

Farkenell, you might be using 'correct' form, but not actually feeling the muscle work. Try feeling the targetted muscle and workout intensely to get the blood flowing in that area. Fully stretch and flex as fast as you can without getting sloppy.

you shouldn't need supplements to get a pump,  but I guess it depends on genetics. I always get massive pumps, especially on arms.

I do think carbohydrate consumption plays some effect in pumps.  I have tried Duchaine's BodyOpus and never got a pump while working out....got very strong however...

of course this is just my experience....but if I follow a more 'regular'....diet with at least a moderate dose of carbs....I have no problems getting a pump.  I even spoke with a rep for MRI (makers of No2) and he even noted it's limited ability with a low carbohydrate diet

What do you eat, how many carbs/pro/fat.  How large are you, how often do you trian, do you get enough rest?  If you answer these it will give us a better idea of what we are doing.

You do know that getting a PUMP has nothing to do with the muscle growing right?

Getting a PUMP is from repping, taking very little time between sets, forcing the blood to the muscle......but getting a pump has NOTHING to do with whether you had a good workout or were going to grow.

try doing a giant set, 3 or more exercises for the same body part- done with out a break with 8-12 reps. You should get a pump from this, if not try another set. if you dont get a pump yet, something is wrong.

tons of bs advice. ur simply low on carbs, and remember, carb loading doesn't take full effects for 3, 4 days. you cannot eat a meal full of carbs before your workout and expect monster pump. progressively up ur carbs for a few days. also watch your sodium intake. when was the last time u had a good amount of sodium? don't cut all sodium. go crazy on it once in a while is good for ur body and blood flow.

Hi Princess,
I just had a similar discussion with another guy at my gym earlier this week.
I agree with you and the latest research concerning this issue.
I tried explaining that there’s no direct correlation between pump and growth, but he wouldn’t budge.

So I put it another way with this reasoning:
A pump doesn’t cause muscle hypertrophy. It just means there’s a bunch of blood in the muscle.
Like an erection.
That’s a blood pump, right?
Assuming the blood volume/growth principle is true, then surely after every no-reason boner all men experience around age 14, every guy should have between his legs a peninsula that has its own zip code.

Finally, the guy gave in and accepted the facts.
Presumably, I guess his own peninsular shortcomings affirmed my argument.

ego dearest princess... ego...

Still...
I don't get it  ::)  It's not like (during the pump) you look any different to the average person.  Is it like the game cock puffing out his feathers?

LOL  :D

Vasularity is mainly due to  genetics and bodyfat levels,in my opinion. Even when I have abs,I am not very vascular.Look at Cutler. For a pro,he isn't all that vascular.

I dont think it is the end all be all in gaining muscle I personally like getting a pump when I train.  As long as you train for more than a pump(i.e. progressivly getting stronger and or larger) it wont hurt your gains.

my 2 cents is overtraining might be an issue. When I flatten or do not get sore I skip the muscle a week or two. When I come back it seems much better.
