Title: Cute presents
Post by: Faust on November 21, 2006, 08:51:39 AM
Ok girlz (and guys),

I wanna buy this girl a nice present. She gave me a cool t-shirt last time i saw her so now i feel obliged to give something back. Shouldn't be too expensive. Help me out, i'm can't think of anything. She's a little bit more than a "regualar" friend.

A teddy-bear?  ???

Maybe name some cool present you've had/given.

Just looking for some general input. It doesnt have to be the "perfect" present.

What do you mean "in pampering"?

If she's under 23 then yes, give her a stuffed animal (one she likes)...if she's over 23, then let's figure something else out.

That's borderline...you could still get her an animal (i was going to say 25 at first but then changed it to 23).
Anyhow, she bought you a shirt? Why not get her something along those same lines from Abercrombie (not slutty, just tight and cute)?

gift cert for tanning.  its the winter season....she will need the tanning beds or mystic tan to keep her sexy "glow".  Plus, if she uses the tanning beds...the UVA from the bulbs will put her in a good mood.  Its a proven fact.

I totally agree with you on that, but since "WE" don't really know her, maybe she's one of those girls that will be "What? Do you really think i need a tan? You don't think my skin is is pretty enough? And also, my Aunt just died of skin cancer...thank's a lot Faust!!! We're done!!! And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!!".
Yes, right now i've got about an hour of "too much time on my hands"!!!! ;D

I like this idea too.

Maybe something from BeBe or BeBe Sport.

Something w/rhinestones :)

How about a nice bottle of perfume? Also wrap it up nicely and put some thought into the card. It'll mean more to her then you know.

LOL.
Tanning beds is a nice idea. But won't work for several reasons, and she's not the type.
The t-shirt is not bad idea either, but i don't know her size. She's 1m70 (5'7 i think) and pretty lean. She gave me a special t-shirt (with a print that had a meaning to us), so i don't want to give her a regular one.

If i don't find anything else i'll give her a stuffed animal or a t-shirt.

Now let's continue the brainstorm.

A necklace / wristband (i don't really like this idea, cause it will be a cheap one)?
An amulet with my picture on it?

A love toggle bracelet... even the cheapie ones look pretty good.

A silver-plated fortune cookie with some brilliant message you cooked up yourself

An engraveable keychain with "love always" or something better etched into it. Since she uses keys everyday she'll always have to think of you. Plus you can do the "key to my heart" thing when you give it to her.

And yes, a card or note with some amazing thought written on it to go with whatever...

Perfume's always a winner - however, like Toxic says, book a surprise meal and take her out to a nice restaurant. Women like an evening of chat, attention and compliments. She'll like that.

Lol. Monkeys?

Don't you run the risk you buy her something that she doesnt like?

The dinner/bar thing is a nice idea. I'll probably take her to a nice bar, and maybe show her my place afterwards?
Or would it better to show it first? We're in the "friends-zone".

I went out looking for a present. Found a nice card, now i need a present. Maybe a red pillow that says "dikke knuffel" (big hug), she's from another country (she's just visiting my city), so maybe it's nice that i give her something in dutch.

Or i could give her something, like a shirt with a print from my city. But i need her size, help me out ladies: she's 5'7, i think like 130 pounds. Pretty fit girl, that's a "medium" right? I found a this in a souvenir shop, but it was closed, so i'll go back there to see if they have anything.

If you've got one in your area, take her to "Build a Bear" and let her pick out and make her own.
I have yet to find a girl who doesn't enjoy do this, myself included.

Either she's a friend or a potential relationship.

What you get her will go a long way in determining which.

A t-shirt says "friend".

Flowers says, "I'm interested".

Got it?

....and to think I called you 'Faustian Science' when some of these things you ask are common sense.   :-\

I'm 21. Never really bothered buying gifts (ever), not even for christmas or birthdays. Common sense or not, i can admit i don't know everything, can you? There's nothing wrong with some input from others before you make up your mind.

It's not always black and white, like you tend to see things. I might be interested, we kinda french kissed when she left last time (and yes, she gave me a t-shirt). But i don't wanna push anything. She's only here for 2 days, i'm comfortable as "friends" but maybe i want a lil more (without the fuss that usually brings along). I'll see how it develops.

If she's only there for two days, she isn't LTR material anyway, so it must be friends.

Then again, how many friends give each other deep tongue?

In about five years or so you'll understand why I seem so "black and white".

After you've had more relationship experience.

Sort of... they are MPG-caplets.
They're like a vitamin pill for your car. My girlfriend likes to call them viagra for the car.

It's a tiny little pill that you put in your fuel tank, then fill up. It extends your fuel mileage.
You can actually travel much further on the very same tank of fuel, which saves alot of money at the pump.
It also protects your engine against wear & tear, ...and gives your car better performance.
It also reduces the smog causing emissions that come out of the tailpipe by as much as 75% or more.

It's currently used by the US military, and was originally developed for NASA for their solid rocket boosters.
They recently put it into a caplet format to make it more user friendly for the general public ...no fuss no muss

They were just released into the market in the past year, and are selling like hotcakes all over the world.
So far, ...over $30 Million dollars worth in the past year. Works with gas, diesel, gas/ethanol powered engines.
Consumers are raving about them, and the trucking companies can't seem to get enough of 'em.

TMJ4 out of Wisconsin did an exposé on the news about them, ...you can see the video clip (http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/081706_TMJ4_Report.wmv) here.

WSAZ 3 out of North Carolina also reported on them as well. That video clip (http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/WSAZ_2_sm.wmv) can be viewed here

The most recent report I've seen is from WTOV News 9 out of Ohio. You can see that video clip (http://www.jaguarenterprises.net/10366165.300k.asx) here.

Each $20 blister pack I buy saves me between $150 - $200 in gas. They're great. I love 'em!  :)

You can read up on them by clicking here (http://www.jme.myffi.biz/en/)

Judi, this pill for the car?  Does this mean they've been keeping it from us for years and overcharging for emissions and >>>fuel.  ?

Makes mad sense but therefore does my head in.  I'm sick and tired of it and broke.

Why don't you surprise her with a simple dinner?  A few years ago my boyfriend was giving me little gifts here and there, nothing expensive but if he was out somewhere and saw a t-shirt or whatever he thought would look good on me he would buy it.  He believed it was more fun to give little gifts throughout the year rather than focus on the holidays such as birthdays or Christmas where it is kind of expected to give gifts.  So on New Year's Eve, I told him I made dinner reservations at a nice restaurant and told him to also bring a change of clothes for when we got home.

In the meantime, I planned an indoor picnic.  Since it is winter and the temps were below freezing doing an outdoor picnic was out of the question.  So I had a red/white checked tablecloth and laid that on the floor of my piano room.  Then I had fried chicken (his fav) in the frig - can't be hot on a picnic!! I had beers in a cooler plus some side dishes - just like you would have on a picnic.  I made brownies, another of his favs.  I found a wonderful pine scent candle- lit it - made the whole room smell of pine  (to give it an outdoorsy feel).  I even found a few plastic ants to set around the floor!  The only thing that wasn't picnicy was the CD player and the background music.

When he arrived I was dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt.  He was shocked that I wasn't ready.  I told him to go in the other room and I would be down in a moment.  He was so surprised!  I got the picnic basket out and proceeded to set up our indoor picnic!!!  It was awesome.  Didn't cost alot and made for the start of a romantic evening and a great way to end the year and the start of the new year!

Linda,

I can't comment as to whether it has been purposely kept from us or not, but I will say this in the developers defense; it was originally developed for use by NASA and various branches of the government. As a result of those government departments involved, alot of the research, testing, and information about the product was either classified, or under non-disclosure. A great deal of it still is, but the company, & the developer are currently working with the US gov. in order to de-classify much of the information.

Also too, bringing a product to market is a very difficult and complicated process. Not everyone has the resources to be able to do it properly. You can have the greatest product since sliced bread, but if you don't have the resources to get it out there, no one is going to know about it. The resources came together, and the timing was right, so it was made available to the general public.

It's not unusual. There are TONNES of great products out there, that the public doesn't know about because bringing them to market is such a daunting task

For some people the MPG-cap has been an absolute Godsend. There are those whose vehicles wouldn't pass emission tests, and were informed they would need very expensive engine work to pass, ...as much as $2,000. For them, these little pills were all that was needed to pass smog checks. I know some people who routinely pay upwards of $150 to bribe mechanics to provide them with fraudulent emission reports just so they can renew their plates and keep their cars on the road. After running the pills through 4 or 5 tank fulls of gas, their emissions are reduced as much as 75% or more, allowing their vehicles to actually pass emissions tests on their own for a cost of $4 instead of costing them $150+ or even $2,000 if they'd opted for the engine work. That doesn't even include what they save in fuel costs due to their mileage per gallon going up.

They're great. Every driver should be using them. They'll save money on fuel, get better performance from their vehicles, reduce the nations dependency on foreign oil imports, and help the environment all at the same time.  :)

Ok. Thx everybody for the advice.

I saw my friend only during one night, at this party. Anyway, we talked, drank, danced.
I told her that i had a present for her, she wanted to come over to my place to get it (her initiative).
Then her sister says it's too late, and that i could come and give the present to her (she lives close to me) at some later date. She would send it to her sis.

AAARHHHHH, ****blocked by her sister. So i guess we're still in the friends-zone. Maybe it's for the best.

Well, maybe she was just looking out for her sis. She (her sister) was also complaining that i should visit her sometime, that i only saw her when her sister was there...

The girl sent me an email saying "I already told you but…I really like the night we spend together…I like your company a lot."
Damn, this girl is gf-material. Only we live in different countries  >:( .
