Well,
actually that is the (not so) secret wish of few characters who don't care about the growth of the sport but just caring about their personal power.
I've heard that in 2007 IFBB won't promote more pro shows than PDI.
Or better, PDI may be able to set a larger pro show schedule than IFBB.
Who cares?
It seems PDI Euro is going to be a fucking beast in 2007.
As for the IFBB, it is going as strong as ever,
First show if the Ironman in Pasadena, in which this year, the top five qualify for the Olympia.
As for the IFBB, it is going as strong as ever, with the schedule announced earlier, and many people are looking forwards to the shows. First show if the Ironman in Pasadena, in which this year, the top five qualify for the Olympia.
unless you count the years they were having 15 or more pro show for the men, including 5 or more in Europe. this year there is a total of one contest being held outside North America
ya know, the Olympia is suppose to be the best of the best. it should be limited to the winners of contests of the previous 12 months
It's very Sad that the prize money is so low the promoters make a packet with no risk to health.I know people who would spend more for a dinner than 5th place $1000 in a Grand Prix.I thought that Pro meant that you lived off your chosen Profession.
When Joe Weider dies, the Arnold is going to be a PDI show!!!!
I know what you mean.
And so I ask this question once again......
Why would ANYONE want to be a pro?
No why would anyone want to be a pro and then not be able to compete and make money where and when they can? They make use of BBer because they are stupid. ;)
Like i have said i pay my dues to the NHRA and get a membership card(nicer then he IFBb one as well) but i can race IHRA or any other racing league to make money..just dosen't make sense in Bodybuilding to restrict guys making money while they can...ALL about power and ego...what a shame.
The IFBB Pro calender looked a lot better when Wayne was involved. It's a shame that BB has to suffer as per Politics.IFBB prize money is way too low with Grand Prix shows giving 10k for 1st and 1k for 5th now that is a JOKE.Nite Clubs have bigger prizes.

Ron,
if they keep this strategy, both you and I have a chance to qualify for the show that used to be the greatest in our business.
Five from Ironman qualifying for the Olympia is embarassing for the credibility of the system
1. night clubs have more people in attendance
2. when you factor in the bar they make more money
3. night clubs have more people on gear
4. and much better posing routines
Many years on a debate team...
I'm one of the few on this board that has put on a pro show. Tell me how a promoter is supposed to make money when the "sanctioning fee's" and prize purse for mens bodybuilding/womens bb'ing/figure/fitness totals 76k dollars? That doesn't count the expenses of the judges, which have to be paid for by the promoter, plus 500 bucks or whatever to each judge post show.
Their system is setup to fail. You get NOTHING for that 76k dollars. I asked to used the NPC mailing list and was told no. All I wanted to do was let people know about the show. Please tell me how a new show is supposed to generate at least 100k in profit in order to break even? The biggest show of the year only draws 5k people. Sponsors aren't going to nut up if you don't have a history of people coming into your event. You can put the show near the arnold or the olympia because people have the big cash outlay for those events.
It's a flawed system and I for one would LOVE to see it fall or change hands. This is just coming from the business side. I won't even get into the competition side of things. I have some REALLY good stories for that one.
One question. Does the PDI suspend any of their athletes who compete in another federation? Is whats good for the goose good for the gander? I don't believe anyones brought up this before. Lee, 240 anyone?
You must not have been paying attention when the PDI started up. One of the founding tenets was that you'd be free to enter any contest of any organization.
They make use of BBer because they are stupid. ;)Ain't that the truth and they know what ever they do or throw at the Bodybuilders they will do nothing about it.
This post has allot of good points. Why should their be only 1 kid on the block calling all the shots. The window of opportunity for a bodybuilder is only so long. Why would any federation not wish the best earning not to mention the prestige of winning a crossover show? One question. Does the PDI suspend any of their athletes who compete in another federation? Is whats good for the goose good for the gander? I don't believe anyones brought up this before. Lee, 240 anyone? No you can compete with any organization Wayne has no problem ..i am guest posing at 4 shows for NABBA next year and another different organization in France.Wayne said if we can make money he will not stop us competing wherever .That's how it should be.

And that why other BB's will be coming over.exactly. It only makes sense.

the PDI WILL end IFBB next year..RIP PDI

I'm not a fun one to argue with, that's for sure. Many years on a debate team combined with the gift of gab, makes it fun :). I'm pretty laid back 99% of the time. However, should I take a disliking to someone, I can be a royal pain. Now that I'm out of the industry and not dating anyone that competes, I don't have to watch myself.
I'm heading out to the race track, catch ya later.

But if you hit woman in France they will cut your hand off...
well arent you awesome then?....
