IMO I think you should focus less on the amount of weight you lift & more on just using moving the weight with a complete range of motion.

weight is what matters

A little but its not the only thing. I think the main idea is moving the weight. I see plenty of kids curling 60lbs dumbbells for eight swinging reps (damn near bent in half). However, if they cut the weight in half & did eights reps with a full range of motion then they'd get a lot more accomplished.

I used to think that was true until i had the opportunity to train with J.Cutler............

Lugar Lugar Lugar...

You always have some witty response to refuse advise.

Obviously training with cutler hasn't helped. if it had, you wouldn't be here asking questions.

Rim is correct, use good form, stretch and squeeze every contraction. only then will you understand how to control the muscles and work them to full potential.

Weight is important but look at your boy cutler, he uses light weight on alot of exercises, but he also uses insane amounts of gear and has a good contraction during every rep.

Good luck.

Thanks. Too many people are only focused on lifting heavy weights. Leave your ego at the door. Use good form & an appropriate weight & you'll get stronger.

A better back workout would be:

Pullups/Chins (Weighted)
Pullovers (Nautilus)
Barbell Rows/DB Rows
Deads

I LIKE MY ROUTINE....good form, yes I agree, but heavy weights are what counts.....if you get sloppy for a few reps just to squeeze em out, its all good....

If you like it & it works for you why do you keep trying to get peoples opinions of it?

Sounds like he's one of those bro's that needs a pat on the back and encouragement all the time to make him feel good about himself and what he's doing and there's nothing wrong with that.  Some people need to hear how good they are or that they're doing it right. It's just that with all this fucking stroking there better be a happy ending to it. LIKE FIGURING OUT WTF YOU NEED TO FIX TO BE HAPPY WITH YOUR BACK!  ;D

Gay rows are better than straight rows
Title: Re: The BIG Back
Post by: Lugar on March 17, 2007, 08:07:27 AM
my back routine is always:

Deads
pulldowns
and pullovers

then I hit two pulling movememnts, either corner tbar rows (ol school style, bar in corner of gym), str8 bar rows, or standing rack dbell rows.....
