Title: At dinner last night, i spoke with a soldier
Post by: Old_Rooster on April 05, 2007, 06:35:37 AM
and i asked him what he would think of a soldier speaking publicly insulting the president.  He told me he would consider him a piss poor soldier and that he would be disciplined by his commanding officer.
told me what i suspected, that GWB was his Commander in Chief and his duty was to carry out the commander in chiefs orders, never would he disrespect him.
Said he would not want to be around a soldier that did.

There ya go Enigma.

Enigma is voicing his opinion here..I'm sure he's not as vocal while on active duty. I guess he's a reservist. He can say what he wants here..its the benefit of this board. I absolutely hate Rummy and Cheney, but i like Bush. i can say that here..not at work.

Enigma is a soldier, but the sad thing is that as an officer in the Army and in a leadership position, if someone from his unit saw him on here bashing the war, but then they get sent back to Iraq and he says "Sgt, go take that fighting position" and that dude says fuck you LT, I know how you feel about this war, why should I risk my ass for you".

No shit,  i wouldn't want that crappy soldier leading me.  I consider what he does here TREASON.  I bet he thinks the insurgents are right.

He probably had his fingers crossed while reciting this

"I, Enigma, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of O1 do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

You called Stinky a coward because he doesn't have confidence in Bush.

Looking at the fact that 2000 insurgents have been able to stop a 150,000 man invasion for 4 years now...

Do you have faith in Bush's ability to lead us to victory in Iraq?

DO I have faith a democrat would not make us appear to be the biggest pussy nation on earth, run off by 2000 insurgents? NO!
If you don't grasp what that will do to our nation then you are a moron.

Yes.

How many years do you think it will take Bush to win this war, and why do you believe those 2000 men with rifles and explosives have been able to defeat the most advanced military on earth, with 150,000+ men, for 4 years?

Actually, Bush has said that he will do what HE believes is correct, even if only Barney and Laura support him.

If Bush believed in your ROEs, they would be implemented.

Why hasn't Bush done this?

If you knew anything, you would know that Bush doesn't develop ROEs. The CINCs (like you know what that is) draft the ROEs in accordance with the legal beagles serving under them. Since they have spent most of their 30 year career attending War College they know that the quickest way to lose a war is to defeat the will of the people. So unfortunately when they are drafting ROEs they have to think about how the biased media will spin each Iraqi death and fuel the hatred of people like you. So they make the ROEs strict to try and appease the pussies on the left and still be able to somewhat do the job. If you wanted to really support the troops you would see this and let the CINCs loosen their ROEs and do their job. Luckily Petraeus took over and did just that. He loosened the ROEs and now the positive effects of the surge are being shown.

Why did Bush wait 4 years to put in a general who would facilitate the loosening of the ROEs?

Actually the Dems had zero decision making power at the time, as Bush controlled the white house and the congress for 6 years.

If what you're saying is true... Why did Bush not do what he knew was right (loosen the ROEs), just because of some powerless whiners?

It would be much easier to talk to you if you had even a semblence of how things worked outside of your dream world. The dems don't need to be in power to influence ROEs and Bush had no choice but to allow the CINCs to tighten them. If Haditha #2 had happened then the public would have been in an uproar. Again, you don't win wars by defeating armies.

Dude, the public is currently in an uproar over the war - 3/4 of them don't support it.

Bush doesn't care about public opinion - he and cheney made that very clear, as neither is running again.

Why did Bush wait until 4 years had passed (and 3200 lives lost) befor loosening ROEs?

Because I just cornered you in an argument.

You cannot tell me why Bush didn't act sooner.

You blamed the dems, I showed they were powerless to stop him.
You blamed the american public, I showed you he doesn't care what they think.

When pressed for a third reason, you quit the argument.  I hope you have more perserverence on the battlefield than you show on the forums.

I'll assume you meant "WRITE".

Why did Bush wait 4 years to install a general who would write the ROEs to fit what the soldiers needed?

Why did he wait for 3200 men to die?

We know he doesn't write them, but we also know he does hire/fire the generals who do it.  Was "3200" the magic number when Bush decided it was time to do a little micromanaging?

Bush isn't influenced by "us pussies".

You're going back to an argument which Bush and Cheney disagree with you on, that they are influenced by the public.  They say they are not, and their actions show they are not, as they're growing a war that 75% of Americans don't want.

So either Bush cowers to public pressure (although he says he doesn't), or he misjudged the need to change the ROEs.  Which is it?  To blame the liberals/dems/pussies means Bush took their advice.  Did he?

Say we pull out, and 1 month later another attack on our soil.  I sure hope the fucking democrats can live with that.  I can't.

1. We leave the iraqi cities and let the police go in there and crush the violence.  They know who's doing it, they know the language, culture and people.  It will be a rough few months, but they will do their job and they will crush the insurgency.

2.  We put our men on the border (keep out Iran).  You come within 5 miles of it and you are neutralized from the air.

3.  We put our men on the bases, pipeline, and oil infrastructure.  You come within 5 miles of it and you are neutralized from the air.

ROOSTER,
I hope you'll agree it's a good solution.  our men would stop dying.  we've been training their police for almost 3 years now - they're ready!  we keep peace, we keep enemies out, and we oversee everything - we just stop standing on street corners waiting to get hit.

and i asked him what he would think of a soldier speaking publicly insulting the president.

An opinion on POLICY.......is part of my 1st amendment right.

No attack on anything but policy.

Much like Colin Powell has.

240, what would you do?  Pull out all troops, call Osama and apologize and beg him not to attack us again?

Say we pull out, and 1 month later another attack on our soil.  I sure hope the fucking democrats can live with that.  I can't.

Did someone say Osama?

Who is he?  ::)

mmmmm.... DUH... I don't even think they should be on a board expressing opinions negative of the president.  The pentagon doesn't think he/she have that right either--and I agree.  That's why it's 100% BS propaganda for the media to interview a member of the armed services and ask them how they feel about the choice to go to war as was done constantly at the start of the Invasion and occupation of Iraq.  Even if they were personally against the war, it's not like they're going to look the CNN reporter in the face and rattle off what BS the war is ::)  So what a stupid and obviously preplanned propaganda question to ask.  "Oh yes sir, I'm 100% behind this war, I'm here to fight for our freedom and put a boot in their ass"  ::)

Old Rooster likes to push everyone's buttons. I don't even think he means half the shit he says.  :-\
I hope that's true about his semi-pedoish posts he use to make.
