Man I had a good laugh at the posts, especially the attached gifs of the French surrendering.
I come back from my trip I have to discover that my threat I have posted in the hope to amaze people as much as myself was amazed when I saw it first is first still there and second has been hijacked by the usual suspects...but I should have known better this is getbig after all Europe clashing USA.
Some of you guys are fucking morons lol, for teh guys who say they should do something better with their time than spinning rifles: As far as I know that is all they do, that is their job, every army has a corps that does parades and so forth it's called Propaganda or advertisement for the USMC, I wonder how many have enlisted after they withnessed how cool the USMC was that day, so there is of course a need for this.
Can we not once just once leave the fucking politics at the door and be iron brother again?

I have done shit like that. In the juvenile bootcamp (run by ex marines) I was in we preformed silent drill at our graduation, we didn't have guns for obvious reasons but we did much more formation moving and splitting up into separate groups with some pretty cool moves thrown in. It takes weeks to get a whole routine down def gotta say though it's cool as shit to watch and do.

Are you refering to Vietnam, cause if you are you obivouly have never read or studied anything about that war. The French though did lose in Vietnam cause they had control over it and lost it, then the U.S. came in and kicked major ass till we realized there was no way to win anytime soon without having to kill some Russians which put lots of limits on what we were willing to do cause it wasn't worth having a Nuclear War.

The United States hasn't been to war since World War II, so, no they haven't ever actually lost a war. The Czech Republic's history doesn't leave Bluto much room for shit talk, they don't even have a navy.

Having served at 8th and I in DC, The Marine Corp Silent Drill Platoon is above reproach in putting on a show. Military History aside (you can't club the Military for losing when they have not lost and are at the mercy of politicans who decide when and where a war is over). The amount of hours and discipline and practice that goes into a Friday night parade is amazing. For someone who asked what you take from the experience, well depends on where you value pride and self sacrifice and learning attention to detail and the drive to excell where other call things quits. I spent time in the infantry and in a sniper platoon and have extensive training in war fighting skills that do not trasfer to a corporate world, but the traits I learned have served me well and would serve many well as so many heads of corporations and leaders come from a military background and have learned and earned what you can't buy in college.

I totally agree, just going through a marine based Juvenile Bootcamp taught me things I could never learn in any school or everyday life. I would do it again if I had a choice cause it was a life changing experience, my camp commander was a 20+ year vet of the Marines and was on active duty his whole career. He reminded me of a real life G.I. Joe with the deep booming voice and the look of a true warrior. He didn't comand respect you just gave it to him, he is def the most badass guy I have ever met in my life yet no one was afraid of him cause we all had complete trust in that everything he did was for our own good and that he was always looking out for us. I have no doubt he could set any goal and complete it with his level of dedication and determination.

There are times in life you learn from a book and others a teacher and sometimes you get the chance to live and learn the experence at the same time and those are very valuable. Many people talk about accomplishment of a mission and can only see there part in it. I am not saying you can only be a good leader from the Corp But you do get a chance to lead in serious life and death situations and learn responsibility of both yourself and your team in a way you just can't do in the civilian world. I think it would be a good starting place for most people (any service) that are young and immature and are not sure what or where to lead there life. Plus on a after corp life, I have found many doors open for me because of my service that never would have been otherwise, similar to being ain a frat but for me the people that I run into do not just talk the talk they also walk it.

And your comparison of a gated community to a prison is a stretch at best, the only similarity being that is surrounded by a perimeter. I live in a gated community because of the exclusivity. My neighborhood has a 2 swimming pools, 2 clubhouses, a publix and a hospital, Its a real prison ::).
And yes we worry about the immigration problem, and we try to keep that shit to a minimum look at all the immigrants the UK and Germany. They have the biggest muslim problem.

Just to help some of you out. I understand hating politics or the US but to talk crap about wars and think that the marine corp has anything to do with policy is freaking stupid. The fine young men and women who give of themselves to service in the Corp have earned the right to be honored. No different then any countrys military, be it the british or french or Iraq. If you believe in something and are willing to stand up for it and put your ass on the line then you get the ability to complain, if not take a flying fuck.

Are you from the US? I say this because I think you watch to many movies. Annapolis navel academy only accepts people that have approval from a congressmen or senators. West Point is the same way. I have served with people from all walks of life, rich kids and poor kids. There are minimun requirments for schooling, there are standards for criminals and those with drug use. I spent time with the entire spectrum. I found when I went to college that I ran into way more losers then I ever did in the Corp. Unless you have spent time in the US and the service then sir you are speaking quite frankly out your ass.

Hate to beat a dead horse but soliders only act in accordance to the people who are in charge of them. If the goverment(s) cracked down on all soliders that crossed the line (abu grabu(sp)) or when innocent civilians are gunned down or animals then there would be less. I understand sometime in war it gets crazy and people get killed by accident, but covering it up and making up stories (tillman) is the real problem.I am the first to say our goverment is a corrupt pile of shit and we do not need to be in Iraq or Iran or any of those third world countries. Let them fight there own battles and civil wars and work to protect our own borders and the problems we have at home.
The problem is compounded when you have our or your military acting as a police force. The "enemy" uses the civilian population and puts there own people in harms way and we expect our soliders who are trained to attack and kill to sort out the civil war mess thats going on.Freaking stupid.

That funny when i was in jump school we helped train some british troops they loved us and called us the craziest and most loved of all the armed forces mostly because we fight and take care of one another as family.....

Hitler was starting his "THIRD REICH" campaign around, what, early 30's? 1933? Plenty of time to "wipe the floor" with the US. We entered in '41, war over by '45.
And the Russians proved to be so "perfect" ::) of an ally right after WWII, basically starting the cold war in the late 40's/early 50's...I'm SURE they were looking to really help us out in WWII. ::)

Actually, the USSR would not have had the money, material, trucks, weapons etc etc etc if it was not for the United States. Our lend lease and world aid programs during the war helped many nations to survive during the war, one of those that recieved some of the most aid: The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Hell, the T-34 was actually loosely based off of an independant U.S. design that was rejected by the Army.
The U.S. also fought Fascism on 3 fronts during the war and won on all three fronts. Yes, the Eastern Front was were the heaviest fighting was taking place BUT without the African front and the West Europe front after D-Day, the Nazis had a real good chance of being able to slow or even halt the Russian advance after Stalingrad and Kursk and sue for peace. It does speak volumes about the German soldier for lasting as long as they did. And it also speaks volumes about the French for lasting as long as they did.....

The Russians were never allies of germany, we had a nonaggression pakt the one we broke to early, there was a time were so close to victory Stalin ordered people not to give him more bad news, then the winter came than Stalin decided to shoot half of his Generals blah b;ah blah... but were never to friendly with the russians.
