Not sure what TA thinks, but if you are on the Howie/Issac/ Ron A. (get big or die)  regime, you are still needing 2 plates of orange chicken, a lb of fried rice and a bag of donuts.

Can you be more specific of the amount you ate.

Add up the calories.

STFU.. been there done that..

BMR at 6.5 cal per lb of bodymass says I require about 1450 cal at rest plus 450 per workout. So at about 1700 I'm defficient and should get ripped soon. Calories being calories and proteins, supplements being all a scam, I decided to get my 1700 cals on Cap n' Crunch and Cocopuffs, both will only bring me 4g of protein so I should be fine.

3 weeks later I'm wasting like there's no tomorow, my insulin is all fucked up and glucose to glucagon ratio is off the roof.

Where did I go wrong with my great application of those so called "Principles"?

Breaking out of that madness, I remembered something from biochemistry called PTOR (protein turn over rate). That scientifically proven rule says that my LBM x 1.818 is what I need to prevent from going catabolic. so that's about 310g of protein.

I come to the conclusion that the fucking idiots who think that "calories are calories" are misleading the goodhearted getbiggers.

Discuss  ;D

Add up the calories.

if i knew what the calories were, i wouldnt ask for help of the great calorie-counting scientist adonis.

Zinger is that burger from Kentucky fried chicken, its as big as big mac i think.

But a calorie IS a calorie. Comeon Alex, you're a scientist and know that -- just like a meter is a meter even if you look at it at an angle and it looks shorter...

But if you're looking to build (or even retain) muscle, protein shouldn't be used as part of your caloric intake for energy -- just building tissue.

In laymen's terms you're not gonna get ripped and huge on a diet of mountain dew and cardboard.

It's all about insulin and metabolism response. 100 cal from pure glucose won't have the same affect as 100cal from dextrose or even from fat. Won't be stored the same way will affect hormonal reponse differently and even affect your behavior.

Really man, if you are eating three Big Mac's (or a facsimile) in one day, are you really all that concerned with burning fat? Let's get real here. A calorie is a calorie only works when you are really fat...like when you are 600 pounds and you eat less pizza and now you are 500 pounds. When you are working out and trying to gain muscle or lose fat etc. the type of calorie is important, regardless of what anyone tells you. If you eat 2000 calories of Big Mac's or 2000 calories of dry chicken breasts, there is a difference. It is fine to eat burghers and work out just to try and stay in resonable shape, but for losing fat like you are dieting...why even bother man really.

I couldn't say. But I do know if you can digest 100 cal from glucose or 100 cal from destrose, it's the same. I'm guessing you're saying you can't digest one or the other completely and so expel part of it undigested...in that case, of course, you're not actually getting the calorie...same with if you eat rocks -- they do have calories, but you sure as hell can't make use of them.

But like I said, you're talking about how the body USES the calorie...not the definition of a calorie.

More precisely what does the body has to do to metabolize them.

Eat shit = look like shit.

Dude you are going to hit the wall with this approach. You are really young right? And you just recently started working out right? Wait until you are about three years in...it will not work this way. In the beginning you are adding stimulation to your body that is so foriegn that you could do anything and make progress. This stops real quick. Most people learn about dieting between those first couple of years and when it stops working this way. I hoep you do as well. In your limited experience, have you ever seen those guys who come to the gym every day and look the same all the time...never any bigger, any stronger, any leaner...that is where this approach is leading you.

Then you cannot say that you have never dieted before man...that is a diet. Going from 8000 to 2000 is a fucking MASSIVE diet. I think the other guy was right though. If this is the case, you just went from really fat to just fat. If it is working and you are doing the burgher thing every so often, then stay with it. Juts do not have unrealistic expectations if you are eating 3 Big Macs three times a week and then dieitng the other days.

Hey TA, I was kinda curious as too what exactly are your bodybuilding goals and aspirations? I got the impression you were not interested in doing on stage actual contests, so I am curious.
Thanks Howard

Longevity and health as well as being in a constant ripped status.  Also totally shutting off the PHA-4 gene.
