Much of abdominal distension in BBers comes from enlarged digestive apparatus (stomach intestines etc.). Consuming mass quantities during bulking phases forces the digestive machinery to adapt and it does this partially through hypertrophy. The rest of the bulk is IAF. If you diet for a long time pre-contest you might be able to get rid of some of the IAF, but chances are the bulk of it will remain and the digestive track will remain enlarged. A change in life-style, i.e., 1-2 years of moderate eating habbits (i.e. slightly below maintenance calories) could be enough to bring a gut down, to a tapered waist.

maybe these IFBB pros should diet on two stalks of celery once a week on Wednesdays so they can have a 27 inch waist, 11 inch arms, 16 inch thighs and a 29 inch chest like you "shifted shapes".

I'd train these "pros" but I've got my hands full trying to keep the legendary kings in line, being a MAGICAL EMPEROR isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Im not making excuses, one day ill be bigger and better. But no fucking way will I be in constant bulking mode like you. Thats why you get so defensive everytime someone mentions small waists. Damn.

Yeah, this is why Lance Armestrong and other cyclists have such a hug gut ::) ::) ::), consuming 8000 cals for the Tour and during heavy training. Get over it, it is the drugs, the and internal fat accumulations in the gut due to GH and Insulin and some growth of intestines and internal organs due to IGF.
However I would agree that carb loading will bloat you, pulling extra fluids into the digestive tract as well.
Lance eats alot of fish, protein and fats during and after races so cyclist at that level don't exactly carb load like a bodybuilder getting ready for stage.

Sure it will be a little bigger but its not like your training your obliques all day. They wont be much bigger. The rest of the bodyparts will be bigger.
why wouldn't you want to be 260 pounds at 5'8" in reasonably good shape?

Maybe it is because you dont realize how small your waist is under that layer of fat. Once you diet down you will realize that your waist didnt grow much (maybe even got smaller if you started as a fat kid).
these are the words of a guy who has never squatted or deadlifted heavy in his life obviously, once you get your weights in those movements up over 500 pounds each for reps let's see if your waist is still 27 inches or whatever it is.

Lots of fats, they are eating while riding. Lance has cheese sandwiches while on the bike for example. Just lots of regular high density food. I read lots of fast carbs don't really work that well for long time endurance, it's mainly fats and protein and carbs that are evenly distributed, I doubt they want insulin spikes.
But to each his own, so some bodybuilders have a gut, doesn't seam to hamper their placings to much...

well they are eating nutrient dense foods, that would require less digestive apparatus. On the other hand cows eat massive quantities of nutrient impoverished grass so they need a big digestive machine to cull the quality sustenance.
I have a feeling that bulking bodybuilders are closer to cows then lance in terms of their food's nutrient density. Perhaps thats why BBers guts tend towards the bovine

many pro bbers from the seventies would gorge themselves on massive amounts of food off-season to bulk up, then lean down for a comp with a trim waist.
hell, serge nubret would eat 6lbs of meat in one meal, but had a very small waist.
oliva, buchanan, etc same.
of course, todays bbers have a shit load more muscle on their bodies and, whether people understand this or not, when you lift heavy ass weights (ronnieism) in rows, deads, squats, etc you are going to develop some thick abs, obliques, erectors, etc.
i don't know exactly what's causing it but i don't buy the bulking theory at all. too much evidence to refute it.

MAYBE he did that for one meal, but in general he ate very moderately compared to today's bodybuilders. I have heard he tended to eat just one filling meal a day.

2. my point about serge was that to eat all his calories in one massive meal would seemingly insure your theory of expanded digestive tissue.
yet he had one of the tightest and smallest waists of all time.
