I must say:
I was the one who convinced DJ to just GO ALL OUT and freak everyone at the show with just unbelievable size and fullness...
He agreed to try something EXTREME that I beleived will catapult him to the top as well as announce his candidacy to match brutal size of ones like Ronnie and Jay...at the Mr. Olympia.
DJ is the only guy I know who can literally "explode" right in front of you in matter of hours...
I told him that after years of trying to please "the experts" and come in "smaller" - to just come completely filled - and let the world know just HOW BIG HE REALLY IS...
YES, I was the one he listened from the first moment until the show...and I was the ONLY ONE responsible for him missing his peak...
Up until Friday - his carbing process was doing what it suppose to...but Friday's night dinner possibly just exceeded what he really needed....Possibly I went just a little to far - but I knew we had still more than 16 hours to go...
On saturday we had half day to get rid of the water...and to my shock - nothing would "release" the water until really, really late in the afternoon - and even than it was nothing as expected...
His fullness was absolutely redicoulous and IF we managed to take that water out - DJ would have looked like cartoon caracter...and that was the look I was aiming for...
Again, it puzzles me even now HOW and WHY his body would NOT respond to "dehidration protocols" used numerous times with great success...
Off course - result is catastrophic...and I have nothing else to say but: I am the one who made him look like that...

This is fuggin bullshit!
WTF has happened to bodybuilding... everyone does what they are told by someone else these days...
Dorian would never be told what to do or what to eat. guys these days need to get a brain and do their own shit.

Yes he did!! He does often!! So when you prepare yourself you can make the mistakes on your own. You'll have the same results and save the money for the "guru".... ::)

totally agree.
Dennis should know by now what works for him after so many years as a top pro.
Dorian knew his own body and used what worked for him. For that reason he allways came in ripped and grainy.

There is nothing wrong with Pro's hiring "consultants" to make improvements. The rest of the business world operates almost the same. In the end you have to live with whatever the outcome may be. There are no quarantees in bodybuilding no matter who you have on your team.

Hahaha what an idiot!
Dorian liked the principles that Mentzer used for his training.... So Dorian modifyed those principles to suit himself, he didn't simply copy anyone, or act as a puppet to some guru.

you're a dumbhead.. Dorian and Dennis are two different person with two different guru

mentzer made dorian. end of story.

"DJ" (Dennis James) can only blame himself for looking suboptimal.
He should have enough experience with "supplements" to cast his own judgement.

Since when did bodybuilding become a team sport?
Since athletes started hiring nutritionists, trainers and steriod guru's to help them win......

Did they even meet more than a couple of times?
-
Did they even meet more than a couple of times?
Let's put it like this:
T: Earlier in your career Mike Mentzer was taking a great deal of credit for putting you on the road to "Heavy Duty" training. Did you ever train with Mentzer, and was he ever really associated with you in any way?
Dorian: When I first started training, I read as much as possible; it was trial and error in the gym. I read a lot of stuff by Arthur Jones [Nautilus inventor], and Mentzer was in the magazines at the time. Through trial and error I noticed that if I went over a certain amount of volume in the gym, my progress would come to a stop. I'd become overtrained. I was always training with a lot of volume, high intensity, along those lines.
I met Mike Mentzer after I won my first Olympia in '92. I was at Gold's Gym in Venice doing photo shoots and met Mike. Of course he was someone I'd admired when I started training, and we were talking about training principles and so on. He had a personal training business and felt that when he was still competing he still overtrained, even though he was doing a lot less than everybody else. He felt it was possible to do even less, in terms of volume, and get even better results.
So yes, I did a few workouts with Mike and we exchanged ideas. He did have some input in my training at that time. I tried to reduce the volume a little bit more, but it was a minor adjustment because I was already training like that. So it's not correct to say Mike trained me. We did maybe three workouts together in Gold's Gym.
T: So he was an influence, like many people have been an influence?
Dorian: Yeah, he was an influence. I'll learn from wherever I can learn. I've probably learned many things from people during my career, but it would be incorrect to say anyone trained me or coached me or anything like that. You should never be too big to be able to pick up tips and learn. You have to keep an open mind. Mike was one of quite a few people who had some influence.
Of course, it was good for Mike's business to be associated with me, which I didn't particularly mind. Great, if it was going to help him. I wouldn't want anyone to take credit for training me 'cause it wouldn't be correct. Even if someone was training me, there's a whole bigger aspect to the sport than that. There's the nutrition and pre-contest prep and everything, which would be a totally different ballgame than when Mike was competing.

Absolutley, and it takes no time at all to unravel all the time these guys put into their diets, DJ's a perfect example, he looks great a week or less out, but the day of the show, thats when it all comes undone, he'll go from looking like a winner to being lucky to place in the top 5, IGF is the probably the main reason why hardly anyone comes in "shredded" anymore.
I've read plenty of studies on IGF and it's huge on fluid retention.
-
DJ's problem isn't the water, he looks messed up because he has one of the worst guts in bodybuilding today, worse than Coleman's or any other for that matter.
He should be dead last.
BB sucks, and 'gurus' like Milos do not seem to be the cure, most of his clients (they're not athletes, thats for sure) have terrible guts.
Peace

Again....IGF-1 and the genius behind it......Milos.

What exactly is IFG-1?
-
Hate to speak for Milos, but I am pretty sure that he thinks IGF is crap. Personally I think it's worthless too.

Can't argue with that bro. Too much offseaon insulin use has a lot to do with the protruding bellies.

Jim can you give us a ballpark figure of how many carbs these guys are dieting on?
Here is a diet that Dennis has used in the past that appeared on Milos' site:
4:30 AM protein shake (mixed proteins) total of 60 grams of protein, no carbs
5:30 AM 1 HOUR CARDIO
7:30 AM 150 grams of Oatmeal (80 grams of carbs), 15 egg whites (60 grams of protein)
10 AM Training
11 AM Postworkout drink (60 grams of protein, 150 grams of simple carbohydrates)
12:30 PM 300 grams of rice (120 grams of carbs), 300 g of Chicken breast (70g protein)
3 PM 300 grams of rice (120 g of carbs), 300 g of Lean Steak (60 g of protein)
5 PM 300 grams of rice (120 g of carbs), 300 g of Chicken breast (70 g of protein)
6 PM Training
7:30 PM Postworkout drink ( 60 g protein, 150 g simple carbs)
9:30 PM 300 grams of steak (60 g protein), 250 g mixed vegetables ( 30 g of carbs)
Midnight - Protein shake ( 60 g of protein).
-
600-700 carbs? thats insane
-
Jim can you give us a ballpark figure of how many carbs these guys are dieting on?
Youngblood pretty much summed it up, but it will vary also according to workout and non workout days. I would also imagine that they would cycle their carbs low at times so it is going to vary to degrees.

You're obviously a 149lb kid with pimples jetting goo at his screen because you have no clue. Disgusted is right. And you don't know anything about IGF.
No, I'm a 220lb man who's been in the industry for more than 30 years, you know who I am, I just changed my name, but if Milos isn't using the IGF-1 he's still screwing up physiques the insulin........this is fact.
-
I take it this is offseason?
Don't know, I got this from Milos' site, as it was posted a few years back. I think it's during his diet actually, I seem to remember Milos saying that Dennis is still hungry after all of this food. :-\

Yeah you can be sure there's AT LEAST 20IU of insulin after each of those training sessions.

When loading for a show though its nothing unusual for one of the bigger guys to take in over 2,500g carbs over 3 days!!!

Your a good dude Luke, so this isn't a blast......but carb deficit + carb load + insulin = stomach bloat or as some call it GH gut.

Q: Last October I attended Dutch Grand Prix and had a chance to talk to many of my
bodybuilding heroes. Interestingly, once I started asking them several questions I have
realized that all of them train and diet differently. When I continued with specific
questions about contest preparation, I learned that some of the great champions (like
Dorian, Ronnie and Dennis James) count their calories and choose only several
different foods ( chicken, steak, egg whites, oatmeal, potatoes and vegetables),
while others (like Dexter Jackson, Cormier and supposedly Flex and Shawn) don’t.
What is your approach?
A: As you just noticed it is possible to use many different methods of training and dieting
and accomplish outstanding results. You mentioned the names of probably the very best
bodybuilders in the last decade and as you realized they all have different beliefs about th
contest preparation. I am actually very close to some of them, and I am very familiar with
their programs. My friend Dennis, for example, is so precise that he would not miss any
of his meals for even a minute. Does he count calories? He measures everything he eats
and he would not use a single gram (of either protein, carbohydrates or fat) more or less
than what was planned. Here is example of his exact diet for the Mr. Olympia
competition (starting 16 weeks out):
4:30 AM protein shake (mixed proteins) total of 60 grams of protein, no carbs
5:30 AM 1 HOUR CARDIO
7:30 AM 150 grams of Oatmeal (80 grams of carbs), 15 egg whites (60 grams of protein)
10 AM Training
11 AM Postworkout drink (60 grams of protein, 150 grams of simple carbohydrates)
12:30 PM 300 grams of rice (120 grams of carbs), 300 g of Chicken breast (70g protein)
3 PM 300 grams of rice (120 g of carbs), 300 g of Lean Steak (60 g of protein)
5 PM 300 grams of rice (120 g of carbs), 300 g of Chicken breast (70 g of protein)
6 PM Training
7:30 PM Postworkout drink ( 60 g protein, 150 g simple carbs)
9:30 PM 300 grams of steak (60 g protein), 250 g mixed vegetables ( 30 g of carbs)
Midnight - Protein shake ( 60 g of protein).
Exciting, is in it? I would go crazy on this kind of diet, but Dennis actually enjoyed it!
If anyone can believe this – he complained that he was constantly hungry?!?
Dennis is just one of my fellow competitors/friends that I design diet for. What I usually
do is estimate their energy intake/expenditure and than according to amount of time they
have until the contest – design diet that would get them in contest shape couple of weeks
before they have to step on the stage. Of course idea is to preserve as much muscle mass
while efficiently loosing body fat. If their weight/ body fat does not drop as planned I
immediately make necessary changes. I would give the daily allowance for amount of
protein/carbs/fat without really limiting the choices. Many of my “clients” usually get
confused when I tell them that I would allow them to choose what they WANT to eat.

Looks to be 690 grams of protein for one day.
And no fats?!!!
The only day you wouldn't eat fats, would be on a carb loading day.
What a bunch of bullshit. If this was a carb loading day for Dennis, the protein is way too high, and the carbs are much too low.
Ridiculous diet IMO.
I thought Sarcev actually was smart when it came to nutrition, and I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I refuse to believe that the above posted diet is true, or it has to be taken out of context in some strange way.
Regardless, the protein content is extreme, much higher than anyone could ever process, and a total waste.

Since when did bodybuilding become a sport? ;D Perhaps gordiano can shed some light on this...

it was my understanding that the reason there is no fats is because the athlete using this diet is also using insulin which is non-selective and would puch fat into the muscle. or something like that. CAn anybody help explain this?
