Title: Walnut Oil
Post by: MidniteRambo on June 14, 2007, 07:26:45 AM
I am experimenting with adding a tablespoon of walnut oil to my 10pm low fat cottage cheese (and wheat germ) feedings.  The thinking here is to slow down digestion of the protein, to ensure that my fat% stays in the 20-25% range and to attempt to get benefit from healthy fats before sleep (possible support for testosterone production?)  So far no adverse effects with respect to weight gain.

Any thoughts, critical or otherwise?

By the way, the stuff is marginally expensive ($10 which gives 34 servings at a tablespoon per serving).

Less than $.30 a serving, you can afford it.

Isn't walnut oil mostly monounsaturated, but no EFAs?  I'm guessing...

How 'bout Udo's Oil?  I've been wanting to try some, but kinda tough to find in Aus.

Good luck with it tho.  Let us know if you find your aggression/libido/gains increase.

This is the claim of the particular product I am using:

"Walnut oil is one of richest sources of polyunsaturated fat in nature (72% by
content, representing 60% linolenic acid and 12% alpha-linolenic acid). Since the oil is not refined, it has a very high level of natural anti-oxidant and essential fatty acids. This means it can help to prevent cardiovascular disease while acting as a counterweight to bad cholesterol. With 12% of alpha-linolenic acid, Walnut oil is also a great source of omega 3: one tablespoon brings 1.4g of omega 3 . . ."

Found a pretty technical (for me) article that might interest ya if you're getting into EFAs.

Fuuuuuuuck.

I'll keep looking around for it.  Fvcking customs will probably grab it if I try to get it shipped over.  They nabbed my whey.  >:(

It'd be very convenient.

Thanks!  I will definitely take a look at it.  I am experimenting with several different fats right now.
