Title: A great day in the Mecca
Post by: Mr Gethin on June 15, 2007, 12:04:59 AM
When I walked into Golds gym for my workout today it solidified to me that the bodybuilding Mecca is still alive contrary to what people say.

I stood and looked around - Gunter, Melvin, Jerome Ferguson and Cormier were all training as were a couple of guys prepping for the USA's. Charles Glass was there as was Greg Merrit from FLEX magazine. On top of that Danny Trejo - check link( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001803/ )and James Caan were hitting the iron hard. Oh, and baseballer Jose Canseco was also there.

I will be shooting Strydom and Robby Robinson training together there tomorrow and I am guessing that Silvio Samuel and Mike Ergas will also be kicking around the weights pen

Its great to be in the Mecca.......... YEAH!

I'm not calling him a drug addict.  I'm asking why he glorifies them. Other BB magazines do it to make $$$, but this guy does it because he likes it.

That stuff isn't already in them.  It's all synthetic.

That's what most drugs do:

Heroin binds to opiate receptors, just like endorphins.
Cocaine increases dopamine.
Ecstacy increases serotonin.
Xanax increases GABA.
Etc...

well testosterone derivatives / insulin / hgh are much closer to ther actual analogues in the human body.. those compounds cocaine/exstacy/xanax don't have a close counterpart in the biochemistry of the human body... they just happen to bind to the receptor

Don't try to justify the use of steroids.  The negative effects are long term while the positive are very temporary.  Maybe you should ask Tom Prince or Don Long...

It's absurd to compare steroids to those things.  Give steroids to a similar sized demographic and see which group has serious health problems first.

approximately fifty percent of the population is on testosterone... and there is a large natural variation amongst that group. I bet the average man will experience no ill health effects with a ~30% increase in testosterone

OIC what you're saying.

You don't think there are any negative side effects in the long run with a 30% increase?

The human body didn't evolve to have massive quantities of these drugs present in the system. Hence the side effects. Steroid abusers have to take a multitude of other drugs to cope with the side effects of steroids such as nolvadex, clomid, blood pressure meds, baldness meds (anti DHT), acne meds, etc, etc etc. These ancillary drugs sure aren't natural and are detrimental to ones health over time.

You are completely right. I'm only advocating therapeutic levels. But, I'm also an avid advocate of freedom of choice. People should be able to choose what and how much they put in their bodies.

I saw a fairly recent picture of him recently and he's definitely doing quite well for a guy pushing 60. What's up with the 'tube video? It says something about inappropriate content and needing to be a member to login (which I'm not and don't intend on being)

I dont look at people as being drug addicts. That would be mighty naive and negative of me. I prefer to live life to the fullest, value every breath and glorify the sport and it athletes as much as I can purely for the love of it. Many of the bodybuilders and their supporters are great guys and I wish to applaud them through bb media. I live in Venice, it would be rude not to.

Excuse me now whilst I dance amongst the daisys and feed a homeless child.

how much alcohol we talkin about?  ounce for ounce i would bet anabolics are much worse for your liver and kidneys

i just think its ridiculous that some chick who wants to become a man can get all the test she wants on prescription, and other anabolics too....prescribed by a doctor.  Purely cosmetic reasons...but for similar cosmetic reasons a man cannot get test unless he has a shady doctor or low levels of test in his bloodwork.

You are mistaken gordon. I think your mind must have been playing tricks due to lack of oxygen. This is very common amongst those who suffer from brain shake. I will happily prescribe this to you if you believe your bite backs up your bark.
