Title: 2 hours a day (6-8am), 5 days a week
Post by: mahg on August 18, 2007, 10:10:48 AM
Is this too much working out? I alternate lifting and cardio. My routine is like this:

Monday: chest, biceps, triceps (2 hours)
Tuesday: lower body cardio, squats, abs (2 hours)
Wednesday: back, lats, shoulders (2 hours)
Thursday: lower body cardio, squats, abs (2 hours)
Friday: upper body cardio - boxing, rowing, push ups, pull ups (2 hours)
Saturday: rest
Sunday: rest

Am I overtraining?  ???

honestly if it takes you 2 hours to do things like chest, bis, tris you most likely
are not using shit for intensity

you should be able to completely fry them in 1.25 hours tops

You're undertraining, specially if you're natural.
2 Hours a day = 22 Hours a day doing nothing.
Overtraining is a myth.

Even this is too much, methinks. If you can't hit it in 50-60 mins, then you won't. Going longer is just diminishing returns.

Exactly.

If you are able to train longer than an hour, you're not working hard enough.

unless your training for a road race there is no reason on earth to be doing cardio.  It saps energy, will not build muscle, and it will shorten your life span.  focus on gaining control and strength instead and your physique will improve along with your ability to pose properly.

what a pussy

I train for 7 hours twice a day for  6 days..only resting on sundays to bath and eat my 1 once weekly meal. The rest of the week I eat a handfull of raisins every 2 hours.

this is BS

bodybuilding is about anerobic work.  If you do longer workouts and take longer breaks you will be able to subject yourself to greater anerobic volume.  If you are going for cardio train for a marathon.

in all fairness, cardio can be used as a means to be a caloric defecit.

I always feel better when I eat more and do cardio..rather than just cutting calories..then I feel weak and always hungry

no this is not fair because it is not true.

cardio is not only an ineficient means of creating a caloric deficit...it is unhealthy, and saps energy for real training.  You need to work on your will power.  Stillness is often optimal.

fuck you and your will power..today I am going to a BBQ..and I am going togo all out and yes, I will be carrying home BBQ ribs and other goodies for a late night snack.

and yes, tomorrow I will be doing cardio first thing in AM to help with the guilt..oh the shame of it

last night I ate close to 3lbs of meat....assortment of lean and moist beef brisket, pork ribs, prime rib, sausage, then mac and cheese, corn pudding, lemon bars, brownies, ice cream, and more.

This is not normal for me though.  there is plenty of room for indulgence if you maintain a deficit on average.  Your running may help you to deal with guilt but it will have very little effect on your average caloric balance.  Why don't you plan your training and consumption rationally rather than basing your behavior on feelings of guilt.  Deal with the guilt through quiet reflection no need to spin your wheels.

Thinking like that will prevent you from ever adding any appreciable mass, Goatboy.

does beating your wife count as excessive cardio?

why don't you send some t3/clen/eca to help me through my "quiet moments of reflection"?

not worrry, once halo 3 comes out I plan to stop all excercising for 1 month

there is a BBQ joint near my old apartment, they only sold BBQ ribs by the slab..and every slab came with a whole corn bread

I swear you couldn't get the grease scent out of your house for days...and with every breath you would close your eyes and remember paradise

this place I went to served everything by the pound on butchers paper.  I was with a party of 8 and I brought back the meat for the whole group.  The spread that they chopped up for me looked like the texas BBQ version of thanksgiving dinner.  I told the guy at the counter that it was all for me, so he gave me a hat and t-shirt.

not bad, that's what we pay around here, we have awesome BBQ places here in St. Louis, do you usually eat a whole slab yourself? as hard as this might be to believe i have a hard time finishing a whole slab, if i'm really hungry i can.

yep pork ribs, i like those better, more meat, sweeter, just more volume in general than beef ribs.

the pork ribs I had last night were from a texas place and they were tough and too salty.  IMO pork has more flavor than beef when prepared correctly.

exactly especially ribs, if the pork ribs you had were tough and salty you either had a bad rib or they prepared wrong, every serving of ribs i've ever had around here has been awesome, we've got a place right down the street that has a free BBQ cooking class every month and they pass out free samples.
