How many of you guys actually go to the gym? Not trying to flame anybody but 1 of the mods on here looks to be about 400lbs plus at 50% bodyfat. If you havent seen his pics go to the picture board. He doesnt know anything about gear so why should we listen to him? :-\ Like I said I'm not trying to flame but just stating out the obvious. ::)
-
Every month or so, this questions arises. You don't need to play a sport or create a movie, or draw a picture to critic it, or to actually learn a subject. You just have to know your stuff, and mod as fairly as possible.
It is always the childish one that resorts to how you look, or name calling when they can't just learn. Do you know how someone looked ten years ago? Or are you judging solely by what someone looks today? learn the background of various people.
-
You are correct, you can study and learn and do research to know a subject.but if your this heavy set person that is giving out opinions or fact and you don't even workout then you criticize some one when they say there heavy and want to use roids. There should be no criticism if you a fat person as well.
-
Llewellyn has never done AAS but he's highly knowledgable in the field.

The mod doesn't know his stuff. That is my point. The guy look horrible then, and he looks horrible now. I see it is very easy to achieve mod status on here. Sorry for my meltdown Ron

He looks large. YOur opinion of "Horrible" is just that - yours.
He knows what hes talking about. Fact is theres some different results for everyone.

Of the plethora of boards I have been on in the past 10 years or so this has always been my favourite. The primary reason behind this is because Ron does a good job of keeping things under control. Do I disagree with some of the mods from time to time? Sure, but everyone had their own points of view arising from their own experiences. I don't recall seeing you post on the Hardcore boards sgt.d so I'm not aware of how much knowledge you have. I do know that Div helps people out a good bit and can't think of any specific time that he said something I didn't agree with. I don't even know where the members picture board is (I looked for it breifly after this post but couldn't find it) nor do I care. As Ron mentioned you don't have to be a pro body builder to be a moderator. You don't even have to be the most educated. It's more about being on the boards consistantly, having a good demeanor, being helpful when you can, and not getting into petty squabbles as you (sgt.d) seem to enjoy doing (I skimmed through your history). There are tons of boards on getbig and even if a mod isn't doing a good job (Which I don't think is the case with Div) Ron cannot babysit everyone, I'm sure he chooses his mods based partially on recommendations from others so clearly he has heard/seen good things from those he assigns.
Anyway, like I said I checked your history and you seem to have a reoccuring pattern of slamming people. Why? It's okay to disagree but don't belittle people and try to make them look dumb because more often than not it's you who looks foolish. If you don't agree with something a mod says don't say "So and so doesn't know shit", say "So and so said x and I believe y to be true because of z". Heresay, blanket generalizations, and whimsical definatives are things that will ruin your reputation on a board like this.

Funny thing is other mods and vets on here don't agree with you. They wont come on here and tell you that though. Mccrackhead and marble knew what they was talking about.

When I first read this thread I was going to remove it because it's retarded IMO. However, since Ron felt it necessary to reply and I agree with what he said, it stands for now...unless some of you start getting insane about your comments.

I disagree with people on here all the time...when that happens I always tell them "hey, I disagree." Do I make a big stink about it? No, what would be the point in that. If we all agreed about everything all the time on here, what would be the point of this board? This board is about giving advice and recommendations as well as helping to support other guys in the same shoes. For those very reasons, people are going to disagree about things said form time to time.

Oh - Please, contribute your actual experiences and first-hand observations of the effects of performance enhancing drugs here if you have any.
esp the unusual. But all the petty bullshit that goes on everywhere else just has no place where people are asking serious questions w/ real concerns about theis subject.
As far as your attacks on Div's "Look". Not everyone who uses AAS looks like, or EVEN WANTS TO LOOK LIKE
a narrow waist ninja turtle. Fact is you need be born w/ some structure to be a above average BBer.
When you get right down to it -
Whos more usefull, a graceful BBer or the guy who can easily move frigerators and wheelbarels full of cement?
Ive worked w/ LOTS of Guys that have very high levels of useful, practicle strength. And Allmost without exception - The strongest ones have a big gut.
All these personal attacks are so petty.

I believe you can be book smart and teach and not have to actually dabble (so to speak) in what you are teaching. But I do understand where sgt is coming from. If you went to a gym and needed a personal trainer and was introduced to one overweight maybe "out of shape" looking pt and one "fit" looking pt (and I don't mean jacked)...you would naturally want to have the "fit" looking pt as your trainer because you would think the overweight person couldn't know shit about getting into shape, and in all honesty...it could actually be that the "fit" looking pt has great genetics and metabolism (and doesn't have to work at such a body) and isn't as knowledgable as the overweight person (who is happy to be as they are, but willing to help others achieve their fitness goals...as many coaches are ;)).

go ahead and post a picture of yourself so we know who we are dealing with. i'm sure you are big enough to do more than talk shit right? i mean if i was going to call someone out for being fat i'd at least be man enough to show them my own picture. Div is already one up on you in that respect.
i don't give a fuck if he has used AAS or not, he knows what he is talking about.

Sgt. has a personal problem with Div, that is the facts.
Now i believe in what i just quoted from your post. i have a kinesiology degree but 90% of the bodybuilders out there don't agree with what i learned in school but it has been scientificly proven. not a single bodybuilding theory has ever been proven with science, it's all theory.
some of the good looking trainers don't know jack shit from my experience, they use drugs or have a great metabolism. i know fat guys who know more about training and nutrition than most pro bodybuilders, but that isn't saying much.
knowledge is a combination of book smarts and actual experience in that given field. most of the AAS experts who help the pro's have never used AAS but their clients look fantastic.

Actually I was looking at "Who's online" and I saw this topic (didn't know where it was located until I clicked on it) and checked it out as I am a mod on two other boards and was curious as to what the question was.
-
One of the strongest guys I have ever seen was a big fat guy. He juiced, ate like a madman but he never had that "bodybuilder" physique. He did know how to lift. He taught me the right way to deadlift, bench etc... This guy would pile on 700lbs and dead lift reps for 3. Bench 5 plates for reps. He was an animal, knew his shit but most people would think he was just obese. Judging a book by its cover is grade school shit.
-
Funny how people talk shit on a board but never to someones face. Div's a cool dude and has helped a lot of us progress and learn. That is what this lifestyle is about, learning..about yourself, industry, and everything in between....Div has done just that.
Also, its about respect. There are many that respect him and won't stand for some nobody to come on here and rip him...trust that.

sgt.d,
With all regards, not only am I lifter but a certified personal trainer as well.
My BF% is in the 20% range because I lift for strength, as a powerlifter I tend to value strength over everything else.......
As far as my knowledge of AAS, I suppose that's up to the interpretation of the individual.
I get alot of IM's from people asking for cycle advice, so I can't be all that bad.
Sounds like you've got some personal issues......
You aren't from that SSB forum are you? :-X

What's your real issue with me, baby d?
You don't know me, because you'd never say these things to my face.
There are many here who I've helped in some fashion over the last couple years.

I don't understand sgt d'd problem with DIV. BUt to support Ron - you don't have to know everything to be a mod. I don't claim to have all the knowledge of AAS, training, & nutrition. I'm also always learning new things & willing to try new things.
Anyway, as for the question who works out. I did once this year - Arnold Jr was there ;). Seriously, I workout about three to six times a week depending on what my schedule will allow.

You know.... At first i wasn't gonna comment on this situation but it just bugs me how chickenshit it is.

Now where the hell does that say expert in anything?.... I have much respect for Ron & the mods here on getbig. Especially in the SI&HC section. The guys are always on, and for the most part, keep a very mature platform for us to debate various topics. Never do they hype up bullshit that they get for free, or go on powertrips and ban left and right. The comments made are no doubt chickenshit and outright of no relevance to the board. We all no the extra favors these guys do here and there, favors that they don't have to do, but do anyways. If this was any other board, Sgt d would have been as good as gone. Flaming is childish and shows the true insecurities of the person behind the keyboard. I guess this is my thanks for doing a good job guys, and making this board a great place to waste time ;D
-
bottom line is sgt d. has absolutely no respect for the members, mods, or the board! I vote for banning all members who blatantly disrespect mods like this. Having a debate with a mod is one thing, but this is nothing other than DISRESPECT to all of us. Get rid of him he contributes nothing!

I really could care less what these 2 guys have as problems.
Div is just as disrespectful as the next.
To put it in plain English if you don't like it just ignore it
Div has some good opinions but it comes with a price and down grading.
Now if your talking about MODS I personally would rather ask AJ or Rim not because i have a issue with Div but because I'm looking for answers not criticism.
just my 2 cents

You must be new here. Division disrespects many members on getbig. The title of this thread was just for him. I just didn't want to single him out. BigJohn, Arnold Jr, O and Rimbaud is okay with me. I have no problems with other members on this board. The guy lies about using aas, being a trainer, and just about everything. I watch him tell some people on here that they are too fat to use gear but what about him? I rarely post on the steroid board. I can't ignore him because he is giving wrong advice to newbies. Another example he tells newbies to bury the needle in and don't aspirate. Does that sound like good advice? I'm trying to look out for new guys. Sorry for attacking your hero 4thAD. Goodbye

sgt d this has to b the most ignorant post i have seen. Not everyone uses aas to look like a bodybuilder. In Divs case he powerlifts, does that mean that jsut b/c he doesent look like ronnie coleman he doesent know how to use aas? Thats just ridiculous. I also do not look like some huge muscle ripped beast. I use aas for a completly different reason also, to maintain or gain weight under the stress living conditions and work that i have. To me it makes me enjoy life better by being able to have the energy to work 6 days a week 10 hr days, and still have energy to weight train and nhb train. without aas i would prob look like every other construction worker around me and b bone skinny with a huge beer belly.
Div is also one of the only reasons i come to this board. The dude has helped me so much with knowledged that i have seen backed up by others. Anytime he has suggested to me has given me great gains and kept me safe and aware of what i was doing.
Lots of other people also look to him for advice so the guy has to b doing something right.
-
trab the thing is he never used aas. my work is done here. bye
SD - First off, I got no issues with you.
But, the AAS board is not for this kind of thing, and it wont go on.
Its a serious place where young guys with a problem or question can get a good fast answer from SEVERAL PEOPLE with first hand experience on their issue.
From what Ive seen they can count on that.
And, even though I dont resemble Dorian Yates or Gene Rychlak, I know damn well what Im talking about w/ regards to AAS.
Ive lived where its uncontrolled, and used plenty in many many combinations.
Divs info is on target. ALL OF US HAVE SOME PEQUALIR RESPONSE TO SOME STEROID OR ANOTHER
DIFFERENT FROM THE MAJORITY. That is a given with all pharma products.
If you know Div personaly well enough to back up your claims I'd think you'd have done that.
If you want to do that sort of thing, why not do it on the clown boards?
Im interested to hear Your experiences w/ AAS. Its a fascinating subject IMO.
Lets keep this board free of personal attacks.
-
exactly, lets keep this board from becoming like the pissing contest in gossip and opinions. sihc has always been the one place i go for no nonsense constructive help. And i have made some good friends along the way. Div included
-
As far as ripping on Divs look, If I had me the choice of help moving appliances, landscaping some boulders, working with sheet rock etc
and I could choose a dude w/ Divs Build, or along the Lines of Dexter Jackson or Frank Zane in prime condition - The choice goes to the big guy hands down!
Frankly every work crew runs best w/ a variety of guys. Theres allways stuff one cant do that others can.
Have some damn respect.
-
this is still ridiculous, bottom line the guy is a powerlifter not bodybuilder. this idiot thinks aas where made to do one thing, make shredded 300 pound beasts.... when thats far from the point
-
He's not even a powerlifter,he has never talked about powerlifing,All he's ever talked about is how he's taken every steroid out there.
Im just wonedering whos the other dude in the pic is cause thats funny.I hope Div not his personal trainer.LOL....

He doesn't claim to be a powerlifter. From what I understand he trains with in a powerlifting manner/style. Besides, who cares what he looks like. He's a big guy. Shit he could watch my back anyday. As long as he's happy with his build that's what important. So what if he's not 300lbs & 3% bodyfat? Even though I know the average getbigger is. ::)

Personally, I don't care what Div looks like. I've never seen him but based on some of the things he says, he seems to posses a good bit of knowledge on how to do things.
You know, some of the best advice I've ever received was from a guy who is pretty over weight. He's about 50yrs old and a former competitive BB when he was younger. Now days he still trains, and he trains pretty hard and heavy, but he's not all that worried about his appearance any more...at least not looking like a BB per say...I guess he's got other priorities but still loves to train just for trainings sake. So yeah, he's got a good bit of fat on him, but he's still got a good bit of muscle too or he wouldn't be able to move the kind of weight he moves. Plus, just from having several conversations with him, I know this dude knows what he's talking about.
So he's over weight, but posses a lot of good knowledge and has walked the path I walk now many times in the past. Does this mean I should ignore everything this guy says?
-
what about Chad Nicholls?
Ive not seen a Pic of him recently (might be a reason 4-that ;D)
But he wrote something about his own "Chinese Buddha" build once.

Yep, he's a very good example. Last time I saw him at an expo, he didn't look like a fat ass at all, but he didn't look like some one who trained very often either. But there are not too many people would try to claim he didn't know what he was talking about when it comes to BB.

It seems EVERY top competitor uses him?
They could call it the Chad Nicholls Body Composition manipulation on super-sized muscle-men event.
But that would be kind-a long ;D

Functional strength over everything else........
That's what lifting is for me.
I tend to think that bodybuilders have it out for me because I'm not one for abs or pretty muscle bellies.
The mentality is different.
It's bodybuilders who tend to ask me the most questions because I know what they are going for.
It's not for me, but hey........it's good to get a different perspective from someone else.
If you want the truth, however, most of the people I train are middle-aged women looking to get "toned".
Dissapointing........huh? :-\

I'd rather train powerlifters or bodybuilders with some finite goal in mind.
Unfortunately, the people with money are usually middle aged women or guys looking to erase all those years of drinking and binge eating.
That's the bulk of my clientelle.
Once in awhile I get a bulker looking to make strength/lbm gains but it's rare.

I'd also like to make good money training powerlifters but it's almost impossible.
I train a group of college kids every Saturday and it's alot of fun actually. the kids who act up or don't give it 100% i send home because i'm doing it for free. i've always wanted to personal train some real athletes but that isn't easy to get started in. that is why i'm an Engineer now.
i really wish i would have started training seriously in my teens, some of these kids have tons of potential and i've learned a few things from them.

Up there in God's country you should be drinking Old Style ;D

For the money their Special Export is right up w/ any ale. I'd put it w/ Molson's ale, Heinekin, or the other Canadians. I like that skunk smell and taste.
Yeah, them Old Red Neck drunks up North are a breed apart. Or is it too closely bred ??? ;D

Hey Load, How is the knee?
Fantastic!
it will be 6 months since surgery on the 18th, I'm amazed how far I've come. I'm running 3 miles every other day and doing agility drills afterwards like i did in football. already doing front squats, lunges and deadlifts with decent weight. i can't wait until December when i can go all out again. the knee feels solid as a rock right now, I've even been doing some light muay thai training on Saturdays with my old coach.

No I'd say beer & oral AAS don't mix. A beer or two while taking injectables won't kill you.

There is absolutely ZERO proof behind that statement. Beer is actually VERY good for you in small amounts.
Moderation is the key, just like using AAS.
Just leave the board and save yourself the trouble.

Rim is right, it won't kill you and it won't be the end of the world. However, if you're in the middle of contest prep, obviously drinking anything should be out of the question. if you're not in prep, but still pretty hardcore and serious about your physique, drinking at all should still be kept to a minimum...at least that's what I think.

If you enjoy throwing up and smelling whisky pour out of your sweat glands, then by all means, I agree ;D
I've said before that I was a pretty heavy drinker for a good while back in the day, but I don't touch the stuff any more. It's been about 5-6yrs since i gave up the hard drinking and it will have been 2yrs this New Years Eve since I've had even a sip of anything with alcohol. I'm not saying I'll never drink anything again, I'm sure I will, but it will have to be for something special most likely.
the day after New years nearly 2yrs ago, when I went to the gym the next day I felt like shit, had a terrible training session and from that point on I knew i was done with alcohol. Like I've said time and time again, I am not some genetically blessed BB phenom, and every inch I gain in progress seems like it's a up hill fight all the way. I do enjoy the fight but anything that would even slightly hold me back just isn't worth it any more...not for me.
One of my favorite little quotes from Dave P: "Would you put low grade fuel in a high performance sports car?" The same goes for anyone dead set on being as brutally hardcore as they can be IMO.
Last off, I'm not knocking you guys who have a few drinks from time to time...nothing wrong with that. But we've all got our own thing , we've all got our own goals, and this is just simply how "I" do things.

IMO the key is moderation. If you're going to have a couple drinks cool but if you go crazy it's really difficult to make any real gains & way too dangerous if you're taking oral AAS. I used to drink like crazy years ago. However, now I probably drink heavily four times a year & by heavy I mean more then four drinks in a sitting. Other then that it's a beer or two here or there (no more no less) with dinner or something. But the older I get the harder it is to recover from drinking. So after this past weekend I'm pretty much going to leave the heavy drinking to St. Pats day (hey I love Guinness).
All things aside when you're ready to break the fast of drinking let me know & I'll make an exception to the St. Pats Day rule ;) .

I enjoy getting the buzz on and have done my share of drinking also. But right now it is not good for the goals I have so I dont have much. This year on the 4th I had 6 Grolshe flip tops, love those they taste so good from that bottle!! needless to say i was pretty trashed and felt bad for 2 days. Think I will enjoy some drinks this fall though after my comp in 2.5 weeks that and some chi-town pizza!! nothing crazy though. I think I will get pretty buzzed up a few times.
last Christmas was the only other time i had a drink this year, one miller lite. For sure I will get pretty buzzed this Thanksgiving cause Im hosting and love doing that and partying up.
-
Nowadays I'd rather over indulge food then drink. Nothing I love more then keeping a clean diet for a few weeks & then having a bacon cheeseburger or two with a bunch of fries.

I drink about twice a month and i do get a good buzz. it's always on saturday night while watching UFC or a boxing match or something. i've learned that the only way i can get drunk and not have issues is if i sleep in the next day. i don't lift of sundays so it's not a big deal. some of my best workouts have been when i felt like shit, i guess i just force myself to work that much harder.
i reserve 2 days off after St. Pats day, it's against my genetic code to not get retarded drunk on that day.

Ok, lets turn it to stupid drinking tricks...
Try laughing 100proof Yukon Jack out your nose sometime.

Drinking age was 18 when I was a kid, and they didnt enforce anyway.
We were buying from 16yrs old.
Hell, they were not even tough on Drunk driving back then. If the driver could talk straight and seemed ok,
they'd let you go w/ a open bottle of whiskey in the car.
I actualy think there got to be MORE teen alcoholics after they raised the age limit.
They seem to stock up extra heavy out of fear of not getting more and running out IMO.

Those were the days.
I remember when it was 18 too, we would stand out side the store and wait for someone "cool looking" to walk in who looked old enough to buy. We were about 14-15 years old. We would ask the cool guy to buy us beer and they usually did. We got pretty hammered as kids, we would get drunk and smoke lots of weed and hash maybe some cola once in a while. Some of my best partying years were before I was 18 LOL.
-
Sheit, I knew a Liquor store owner and my cousin's dad owned a bowling alley.
We'd just walk in and buy at 16 yrs old back then.
Primo Columbian gold flodded the market back then at $35oz and Blonde Leb Hash at $5gr.
You could hit a bong in your car at the park and wave to the cops in my city back then.
They'd smile and wave back. Maybe they were getin' high too...
Today they charge kids w/ Dissorderly for toilet papering Trees! ::)
Where did our freedom go?
Today I cant build a garden shed on my own land w/ out a expensive long battle w/ city hall.
I cant take a medication taht makes my life better w/ out being robbed by the Drs and Pharmas.

Damn I remember that gold and blonde. Sh*t those were the same prices for us too!! I rember we would put a 1/4oz blond leb on a pin light it up, cover with glass and take big hits off the edge of the table. Memories.....
Man your right though we used to drive around smoking herb like it was nothing, passing joints, drinking beers very little concern for the cops. Man would never do that today.
