The point was he's not being honest...he is 15 and curls 120 lbs? For one rep...maybe...and he benches 210 lbs? The kid is 15.

He didn't say max. For all we know he may be talking about 10 reps...I certainly don't believe in can curl 120 lbs for 10 reps.

i'm not saying i bench 500 but any 15 year old with a little bit of muscle should be able to bench 205 with a heavy collar on each side.

I don't know. Everyone is different. My bench is horrible but even those people I know who have only been working out for a few years like I have don't do that much better.  It would be interesting to get an average for most people but I doubt many would be honest about it.

I think people have different ideas about what Benching means; some people call benching half way down others let is briefly rest on the chest (I do)....tough call...

No. NYC.

to me if you lower the bar to your chest and you push it back up and lock it out with no ones hands on the bar that's a bench press, no need to rest it on your chest.

I did. I started 4 and a half years ago and I will be 30 in February. 25/26...

My Bench has always lagged. Just genetics I guess.

nope, most i've ever done is 380 a few months ago which is terrible for a 35 year old guy who weighs 235 pounds and has been training for a number of years.

it's rare but it happens, there were a couple of Iranian kids on my football team in high school who could both bench 4 plates as sophmores but they weighed 300 each.

I've never gone for one rep. I can do about 200 for 5 reps on a good day. I am 5'8" and somewhere between 170 and 180 in weight.

starting late in life does put you at something of a disadvantage . . . that kid's test levels are rocketing, and his body is also more willing to adapt neurally to lifting.

your test levels don't drop as much as you think and as much as everyone seems to think they do.

Nahhh the 160 who did 320 was a senior. The kids i saw doing 275 as freshmen from what i knew were natural. I have also seen a 145 pound guy do 315. All of these were with good form down to the chest and up.

Not really. My deadlift for 5 reps is about 330. Big discrepancy.

not really your deadlift should be at least 100 pounds more than your bench, that's normal.

I should add that when I started I was 50 lbs overweight and had never done any sports in my life; considering this I think I have made decent progress.

depends on the individual, but everyone has more natural test at 16-18 than they do after their late twenties. however, if someone's been lifting from a young age, the body compensates by being more efficient in other ways.

yeah i know but my point was that it doesn't drop as much as some people seem to believe, the way people talk you'd think it decreased by 50 percent when in reality it drops by about 10 percent every fifteen years.

just stick w it . . . being able to do a single at 225 isn't bad at all, especially given that you're not the biggest guy in the world.

I think i benched 95 kg(215) at some school meet when I was 15, and weighted what, haha, 60 kg (135)? Some people are just strong at some lifts by nature. At the same time I did not even train legs. A beast  ::)

Well at least it seems you are level headed.  There are some people over there that have some very strong convictions delusions.  They don't see shit for what it is.
