Not really.
I think Putin could take out any world leader in a duel or hand to hand. Speak on this.
Did you know George Bush does not even know how to ride a horse and is scared of them. So much for the cowboy hat and the ranch. ???

Did you know Mr.Global warming al gore's home uses more energy in one month than the average american's home uses in a year. Politicians are lying fucktards. A battle among world leaders..........this thread just got somewhat interesting. I think bush is probably a pansy and would run and hide, unless he was drunk or coked up!

Of course a MASSIVE SELF-SUSTAINING FARM would use more energy than a normal home. His farm is as green as it can get given the technology. He has totally offset his carbon usage. (Think of it like a caloric deficit) His carbon footprint is negative. Do you want him to build his own Powerplant?

Bush's ranch uses geothermal heat. It is wayyyyyy more efficient than gore's home. Maybe gore should get a more efficient home and then he could offset bush.

Not that much since he charters a GulfStream V which equates to over 40 miles per gallon, which is about what most hybrid cars do.
Also, do you expect him to bike ride to other countries or sail a Santa Maria across the Atlantic? Al Gore did not cause global warming. The scientific consensus is with the IPCC. Just as the scientific evidence and consensus is for evolution.
The National Scientific Academies of the the following countries issued this statement
“The work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) represents the consensus of the international scientific community on climate change science. We recognise IPCC as the world’s most reliable source of information on climate change and its causes, and we endorse its method of achieving this consensus. Despite increasing consensus on the science underpinning predictions of global climate change, doubts have been expressed recently about the need to mitigate the risks posed by global climate change. We do not consider such doubts justified.”

No one on the IPCC doubts that there are cycles and natural factors. The question is whether the global warming observed since the mid 1970's has a significant human cause. The IPCC says yes with 90% certainty.

Gore is a hypocrit, just like 99% of the rest of the politicians. Like the ones who say certain drugs need to be illegal because they are bad for us, and allow tobacco and alcohol to remain legal. His crusade for global warming is simply another business venture for him and it is making him tons of money. You are blind if you think he's actually in this for the benefit of anyone but himself adonis.

well what the hell did you expect him to do? live in a cardboard box?
besides, that "fact" is pretty misleading since it neglects to point out that he uses as much green energy as he can, meaning his carbon footprint is pretty small. my house might use 50x the energy of yours, but if it's solar then that doesn't really matter now does it?

you're wrong dude. plain and simple. if he wanted to make money he's going about it in a pretty stupid way, especially considering he gave away the entire $1.5mil from the Nobel Prize.

Don`t be an idiot. Do you want gore to Buy his VERY Own GEOTHERMAL plant? Do you also realize that Al Gore`s home is a VERY OLD HISTORIC home in his family for a very long time?
Bush just had his house built. So I take it you would want Al Gore to tear down his family home, even though the carbon offset is lower than the Bush Ranch.

Al gore is a businessman plain and simple. This whole global warming thing is a business venture. If you and magoo had millions, you'd probably be sending some to al gore! As far as his home goes, Gore is asking us to change with the times and be more energy efficient. Why can't he?

Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel and Ron Paul are NOT Hypocrites. They would legalize and decriminalize all drugs. Especially Mike Gravel. You DO have choices that suit YOUR NEEDS and CONCERNS if you just wake the fuck up once in a while. Stop being a sheep.

Al Gore is NOT the face of global warming. He is more or less an advocate and trying to bring attention to this totally scientific matter. Take Al Gore out of the equation and you still have Global Warming.

Exactly my point. You have not learned enough about the people. Clearly you have not learned enough about global warming or Al Gore. You are just repeating lies. Do some research for yourself. Use Primary Sources and Peer-Reviewed Journals and Independent Commissions. Do your homework and stop repeating lies. The worst thing you can do is be misinformed or ill-informed and complacent.

My reading tells me that the earth is billions of years old, and we have only been recording temperature for a reletively miniscule period of time. In that time that we have been recording temperature, much of it was done with instruments that have questionable accuracy.

you do realize that gore has fought tirelessly for progress on global warming since the 1980s, right? and that he never intended to make a movie or become "the goracle"? you're making it sound like it's a sign of greed that he's spreading his message, which is so asinine i'm not sure how to attack it.

The worst thing you can do is be misinformed or ill-informed and complacent.
True look at how these tools are denying Nasser. A man who is risking his life coming forward with the truth. But the are so comfortable in their complacency that they would rather he just go away.

to top that off, in the span we have been measuring earth's temperature, it's shown that spikes like "global warming" that we have now are relatively common.

let me ask you this, i think it's a reasonable question:
looking at things from a "prisoner's dilemma" perspective, we see that either there is or isn't global warming and we either do or don't do something about it (which is to simplify things, ignoring whether it's man-caused or whether we're technically capable of doing anything).
so we have four situations, each comes with a result/consequence.
global warming is real, we do something about it - we save the planet, though it's a strain on the economy and requires some sacrifice
global warming is real, we do nothing about it - the planet gets decimated and all those terrible things happen that gore warned about (maybe not to that extent).
global warming isn't real, we do something about it - planet doesn't need saved, and we make economic sacrifices for no good reason.
global warming isn't real, we do nothing about it - status quo.
i want you to look at those four options. realize that the 1st and 3rd can be paired up, as well as the 2nd and 4th. even if we don't know for sure whether it's real, we can take a look at the potential consequences. compare.
no action - either the status quo, or serious destruction of the planet.
action - either an unnecessary economic sacrifice, or a necessary sacrifice because it saved the planet.
in the former case, the potential benefit is pretty minimal and the potential consequence is monumental. in the latter, the potential benefit is monumental and the potential consequence is pretty minimal.
i think it's obvious which side i'd choose to err on, how about you?

Ok, my opinion of global warming is up in the air right now, but the actions being taken to stop global warming are good for the enviroment regardless. So even if global warming were a complete hoax, I think the actions being taken to combat it are great because they are cleaning up the earth. I guess I just don't believe Gore is some global warming white knight, I personally believe that he is on a business venture which undoubtedly is making him lots and lots of money.

the graph shows the source they got it from.
for those of you not graph savvy, it shows temperature variance of the last 2000 years. as you can see, it varies greatly.
one of the main factors attributed to global warming is the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. human emission of those gasses is .28%, while the other 99.72 is from natural emissions? do you need graphs on that too?

I've read similar studies saying that nature is resonsible for an overwhelming majority of CO2.

fair enough.
no doubt he's making a career out of it, but i do believe he's doing it because he truly cares about the environment. he was writing books back in the 1980s, i'm sure he could have made a lot more money doing something else.

Are you a moron? Just look at China for example. People aren't moving to the cities because of jobs. They are moving because they country side is so badly polluted they can't live there and by them moving to the city they put more strain on local water supply and add to air pollution.

I have here before me Elizabeth C. Economys the River Runs Black. Pollution is so bad in china that it is taking up 8-12% of their overall GDP. If they do not fix this IT WILL end their economic boom. Enviornmental protection my be costly in the begining but it creates more jobs and is better in the long run.

These are all facts. If you want to look at the hindering of short term economic growth then you might see counterpoints but if they don't fix it the government sacrafices overall social and political instability. It is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation but if they want to see the success of their country then they MUST got green. Hell, they are still using leaded gas and coal over there. TVE account for 50% of the countries pollution. Over a 4th of the country is a desert. These are facts. Not opinions.

I think Iran is a beautiful country with mostly nice people, it all depends on the american government policy if they stay nice, because if i was one of them i would be screaming jihad too probably.
And your anger and uncertainty would be justified given the United States foreign Policy and what we have done to Iran. Let us not forget history. The time in 1953, when we removed their Democratically elected Prime Minister and put in a Monarch. We caused this.
In 1951, a nationalist politician, Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh rose to prominence in Iran and was elected Prime Minister. As Prime Minister, Mossadegh became enormously popular in Iran by nationalizing the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (later British Petroleum, BP) which controlled the country's oil reserves. In response, Britain embargoed Iranian oil and began plotting to depose Mossadegh. Members of the British Intelligence Service invited the United States to join them, convincing U.S. President Eisenhower that Mossadegh was reliant on the Tudeh (Communist) Party to stay in power. In 1953, President Eisenhower authorized Operation Ajax, and the CIA took the lead in overthrowing Mossadegh and supporting a U.S.-friendly monarch; and for which the U.S. Government apologized in 2000.[

yes, and brought in power again their favorite Shah Reza with their torturous secret police.

you make that sound like it's a bad thing.

Lets also not forget that We supported SADDAM and IRAQ by giving them weapons and funding to fight Iran all during the 80`s for the Iran/Iraq war.
Billions of American dollars and Weapons to Saddam to fight Iran.

Here's a serious issue we can discuss!

let's stick with iran you like that one

No my friend. In 1951 Dr. Mohammed Mossadegh was a secularist and did not want religion to rule the state.
We did. Operation Ajax was meant for the religious empowerment because it was thought that it would be an easier regime to control.
We opened the door wide for the Religious fundementalists and shut the door on the secularists.

Yes, i got sick in the stomach when i heard these government officials say "we got him!".
bunch of hypocrats.

Mohammad Mosaddeq (Mossadeq (help·info)) (Persian: محمد مصدق Moḥammad Moṣaddeq, also Mosaddegh or Mossadegh) (19 May 1882 – 5 March 1967) served as the Prime minister of Iran[1][2] from 1951 to 1953. He was democratically elected to the parliament, and as leader of the nationalists was twice appointed as prime minister by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran, after a positive vote of inclination by the parliament.[3] Mossadegh was a nationalist and passionately opposed foreign intervention in Iran. He was also the architect of the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which had been under British control through the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, today known as British Petroleum (BP).
Due to a multitude of disagreements with his former allies, especially the communists and Islamists, and disagreements with the Shah and with the parliament over his handling of the talks regarding compensation of the British side, he dissolved the parliament using a referendum to avoid impeachment. This act was characterized as unconstitutional by some of his closest allies as well as opponents, and led to the Shah's dismissing him from office on August 16, 1953 [4][5][6][7][8]. Mossadegh later insisted that the text of the constitution was subject to interpretation, and that his actions had been in accordance with its spirit rather than its text [9]. He eventually was removed from power on August 19, 1953, by military intervention. The coup d'état was supported and funded by the British and U.S. governments and led by General Fazlollah Zahedi [10]. The American operation to encourage it was run by CIA agent Kermit Roosevelt, Jr.,[11][12] the grandson of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, and came to be known as Operation Ajax,[11] after its CIA cryptonym, and as the "28 Mordad 1332" coup, after its date on the Iranian calendar.[13] Dr. Mosaddeq was imprisoned for three years and subsequently put under house arrest until his death. He is, in many countries, considered a symbol of anti-imperialism.

My main problem is that I am interested in everything. I wake up every day wanting to learn something new or how something works or what happened in the past. Today, the majority of the people do not do this and it is frightening to me. I think people put their life ahead of their knowledge. When it should be the other way around. My dream would be to popularize all areas of knowledge and make it interactive where people, normal everyday people, can participate in research and experiments. Science and knowledge centers should outnumber churches. They should also be accessible to anyone willing and wanting to learn. For free.
That is my dream anyways.
-
you're a great inspiration dude.

my dream is to be able to do one thing well and make the most money doing it.
the romantic era's over.
can you claim to be an expert or professional in one area of life? meaning, something people would pay you for?
my sincere hope is you don't, so you can never make the income necessary to reproduce.

Thats cool, but I've got to make a living. Spending time with family and friends is more important to me than learning things that will ultimately never benefit me in any whatsoever. Basically for me, there's just not enough time in a day.

I agree with the first half 100%! Being that I don't actually know adonis personally, as much as I dislike some of the things he says, I would certainly not wish that he is unable to have children based upon what I know of him from getbig.

i'm speaking for the child's sake.
i imagine with the way he'd raise a child, the kid would get his ass kicked constantly through his late teens.
he'd probably raise something the likes of Martin from the Simpsons.

Why not learn how to do 100 things well? Money will always be there. My motto is always not work hard, but work smart.

thats exactly the kind of new rich we have today. Smart at only one thing and complettly ignorant and culturless about everything else. You would be perfect for Orange County, California, and most of New York.

But generally to be financially successful one must have an expert at something. Often times, the training and dedication it takes to become that expert leaves little time for learning any other skills.

Yes. This is contributing highly to the wave of persistent ignorance that is sweeping society today. Their lives are totally dictated by their jobs. Their jobs transcend everything else. Ingenuity goes out the window. They fail to analyze anything that doesn't directly affect their income. As a result, they give a free pass to pseudo-science among other things. They are the wishy-washy types who really fail to have any plausible introspection.
-
glad to know you're not completely part of the 100% blame America crowd

What is Richard Branson an expert in?
What is Bill Gates an expert in?
If you look at the top earners, they are only an expert in adaptation and the furthering of technology and development. In order for them to do this, they have to be an expert in many areas.
The ones with the upper-middle class dreams are just cogs in the wheel. They do one task and one task only. If they behave and don`t ask questions, certainly they can get the picket fence and the average house so they can watch Will Ferrel DVD`s.
Is that really progress?
