Title: AAS = Lose fat AND gain muscle?
Post by: Audioslave on November 03, 2007, 07:21:12 PM
This has been hotly debated; some say no matter how much AAS, you have to have a caloric surplus to add mass, and a deficit to burn fat. Others say you can do both quite well when on AAS. From those who have tried, what's your experience? Can you really do both at the same time? If so, what drugs did you use, doses, past cycles, and how long was this run?

I agree with the "some" that say it's worthless...and to prove it, I believe Ronnie went natural one year, he won the 2004 Olympia natural and nobody could tell the difference  ;D

Steroids are all placebo!  Stick to muscletech and you'll be winning Mr.O's in no time!  ;)

So basically no one here has used AAS and dropped bodyfat and gained muscle at the same time? Gotcha ;)

I believe AAS is normally used for maintaining muscle while dropping fat. When a natural cuts down to very low body fat levels, a lot of muscle goes with it. Not so much with AAS.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you still need a calorie surplus to gain muscle.

Yeah I think you're right. What could confuse the issue is that the steroids make you retain water which shows up as LBM. Also, not everyone who diets is hypocaloric the whole time. If they employ re-feed days they can put on muscle even if on a "diet".

What about a guy like mesmorph78 who has gained a whole lot of muscle eating only 2 meals a day?

aas + training = more muscle

more muscle = energy deficit

energy deficit = faster metabolism

faster metabolism = more calories burned

more calories burned = greater fat loss

Seems hard to eat over 3000 calories in 2 meals. 1500-1800kcal in one meal, that's ALOT.

It's the composition of the muscle that changes, which leads people to believe there's been a loss of fat as well as a gain in muscle. Basically, water infuses the cells and with good steroids the water is pushed into the muscle, not the skin.

That's why users often have round, full muscles, which look leaner than flatter muscles exhibited by true nattys.
