I took a 250 pound body builder with good condition. Make him do three 3x14 holding each rep for 5 seconds and slowly lowering the weight without letting the weights touch. Then 3 sext of body weight lunges and 2 sets of weighted lunges.3x14 with the leg press controling each rep and to his was suprised by the end of the workout he was only using a 35 on each side of the bar.Iv gotten a good rep with the bigger guys at my gym for breaking there egos and showing them true mind muscle connection.I think my training style is simular to milos I'd love to have a disscusion with him because he is truely one of the smartist Trainers in body building. So if your reading this milos please writ eme back.

anyone can make up a giant set routine. just need a tiny bit of imagination.
doesnt mean its better than a normal straight sets workout.
i have a good imagination and i could come up with various bizarre workouts.
doesnt mean that they work better than a normal straight sets workout.
sadly in bodybuilding, being one the "smartist trainers" isnt a compliment ;D

GIANT SETS can be done numerous ways and in reality IT IS THE MOST INTENSE WAY ANYONE COULD TRAIN....and whoever thinks otherwise - come to Koloseum and I will 100% for sure show you what I mean by that...
Whatever "intense model of training" you bring to me - I will extend into the giant set (making you do EXTRA WORK immediately after you finish your set...... ;) )
-
my giant sets put milos giant sets to shame
whatever he does - i triple it
and finish it off with running 10 miles naked in the snow
that's intense!

The only problem is - you wouldn't last through 1/3 of my first rotation... ;)

I regret having lost your DVD before I had a chance to finish reviewing it...although DVDs do not sell anymore, but I still think it would have been a good review to have online since it was unique!
Next up: review of your supplement stack!!
I had to give the supplements to my friend to review who came with me because I had so many supplements from the expo it would have been difficult coming back into Canada and justifying them. He seems pleased so far with the quality. Here is my friend: 5'9 and 202:

i dont have to - im the coach!

yeah, as lasting thru a rotation is what building muscle is about ::)
sounds more like a "macho thing".
use the basic exercises to stimulate the muscle then go home.

What a waste of money!

Not really. I just flashed my website card to all the booths at the expo and they gave me whatever I wanted free for review. ;D

I agree, but what you do ARE NOT giant sets, it's a one bodypart, 20-40 exercise circuit with no physiological explaination on WHY you have people train that way, for example.....30 exercises for lets say chest.....why, oh, I have an idea why, but without it, it's useless.

As always - EVEN IF YOU HAVE AN IDEA - IT IS THE WRONG ONE COACH....
Physiological explanation of why I have people (myself included) train that way?
Only because I am convinced that this kind of training IS the most intense and the hardest way to train - resulting with greatest muscle fiber stimulation...(exact physiological reason we do exercise in the first place ::). Now, difference is - some of us like to do things ALL THE WAY...and some don't...Some like to compete....and some want to win...etc)
Poor Coach...but when you are at the subject - why 30 exercises for lets say chest would be useless WITHOUT IT (what is IT? ::)) and how does IT make a difference?
Care to elaborate?

tell that to Ronnie Coleman.

Is this why you do go home...wondering what is like being on the IFBB pro stage?
Try to last through few rotations religiously for a year or so...and you just might have the opportunity (to become a pro... ;)...but - how would I know that?)

Ronnie with 3 months under my giant set routine would come back - better than ever... ;)

hahahahhaa, of course he would, i love it, "hey Ronnie stop deadlifting 800 for 2 and benching 500 for 5 and do a giant set for triceps with 55 pound barbell extensions. ;D

Man I hope I have to go to Cali for my job in the coming months....I will go to the Koliseum and seek out the man himself MILOS!!!!!!! I dont care who is at the front desk checking IDs... Imma walk in there and be like ...MILLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO SSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

You should try that at a porn convention :D

I swear Milos, you come up with some off the wall crap!!
1. How can it not be intense and hard, for Christ's you have people doing up to 40 sets PER BODY PART, that in itself is useless and non-productive and you know it......Milos, I seriously want you to tell the real reason why you have your clients circuit train the same bodypart, I think I know...no, I know.. I know!!
2. You can achieve the results by doing the "hundreds" system from 20 years ago as we did when we were training under Jeff Feliciano, same premise, greater muscle stimulation. You know as well as I, you don't 40 freaking exercises to hit one muscle group from any angle, if it's conditioning then I might get it, but even then you don't need 40 exercises, but your claim is for hypertrohy and not conditioning.

Milos:
For any type of natural doing this routine, what would their nutrition need to look like to recover and grow? Obviously, "gear and co" help you recover better but other guys don't have the same help.

you would never be a pro milos, without the drugs. so your argument is beyond pathetic.
and if even if i could, i have zero desire to be a bodybuilding pro. :D
as i said before your routine is bullshit, doesnt come close to a regular straight sets workout.

no amount of optimization of nutrition can make milos bs routine work for anyone not on huge amounts of drugs.
such a routine would deplete glycogen stores alot so you would need to increase carb intake. but you shouldnt do such a routine in the first place.
-
i have said this before and i got trashed for i will say it again.. milos has something with this giant set training. i have tried numerous times and i will admit right now it is one of the toughest ways that you can train. if your mind is not into 100% you will quit. i think every bber should try this type of training atleast once in a while.

You have said that you respect Charles Poliquin for his knowledge. Why doesn't he prescribe this type of training for hypertrophy? Even he says tension is very important, and that advanced trainees can use/need lower rep ranges for growth.

Poliquin has said himself that he'd be 120 pounds if he trained like that.
-

Ronnie upped his reps, lowered the weight, and trained at home instead of at metroflex (probably ashamed to show himself at metroflex according to the metro owner). The result: way smaller.
If Milos' system is so great he should be at his biggest right now, after years of giant-setting. He isn't because he needs to up the drugs again and probably bang some heavy ass weight for that to happen.

for most guys the rule of Only use less weight under two circumstances, injury or horrible form is right on the money.

On a side note, he supposedly respects John Berardi.........hey Milos, tell "JB" The Coach says Hi!!

He does, he calls it his "volumization" phase. In an Arm routine he published- that was prescribed to Milos himself- he had you do three sets of tri-sets twice, and then another tri-set for two sets (each set counted, would be 22 sets) for each triceps and biceps. Each exercise has a specific tempo you are to do for maintaining tension on the muscle.
Then he reduces the amount of volume and you use around a 408 tempo, and this he calls "intensification."
Different, well, a twist on Milos' routine anyway.

Cite your source. I've got many of Poliquins books, and it's not in any of 'em.
Charles is somewhat of a genius in his methods, and that all comes from having a PhD- far from your credentials. He understands that ALL methods work, and it depends on how you piece the puzzle together.
Please let me know where you got this info SF. :)

like i said it was 4-5 years ago, Poliquin is a big believer in strength.

Did you ever think that you typed your response to the other persons question, while I was typing up my post? ::)
Big believer in strength yes, but he understands and respects, and values every part of training.
He'll do giant sets, single maximal sets, and everything in between in one workout- IF that persons routine/phase calls for it.

i don't think there's anything wrong with some giant sets, super sets, drop sets, flushing, etc. AFTER the heavy barbell training.

Yeah, didn't he also write the "one day arm cure"? He also believes in planned overtraining, with a rest period following to allow for adaptation. But Milos seems to only talk about giant setting all the time. No way this works if done all the time. You need some periods with higher loads etc.
-

I agree with the higher loads too.
I've asked Milos about how he incorporates the Giant sets into his routine a couple of times. Is it a months worth and then he backs off? Does he periodize? How do Giant Sets exactly fit into his plan?
I've never gotten an answer from him (I'm guessing it's because he's busy). I'd like for him to give a little bit of how it all works in the grand scheme of things, as I'm sure others would love too. :-\
