hahaha, i was listening to a sports radio talk show and the host had an interveiw with ex Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin and he was talking about how poor he was when he was growing up and then said that when he became rich he bought stuff like "a 75,000 dollar watch", hahahahahaaaaa, oh brother. ::)

That might not be a BS claim.
-
even if he did its ridiculous.
-
Michael Irvin: one of the best wide recievers the game has ever saw. As for the 75K watch, well, I assume there must of been A LOT of diamonds in that watch somewhere. Though, I cant see where you would stick so many diamonds in just a watch! Maybe it was 24 karat, hmmmm?
-
is he black?

yes he was one of the best no doubt and unlike a lot of todays clowns actually had the heart of a winner and proved he was a winner but the guy is a notoriuos shit talker.

I don't get where the problem with that statement is. Lot's of wealthy people have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. I mean, I make about a tenth (or less) of what Irvin made a year, and I have a 6K Breitling and 9K Mueller.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasnt he also caught with crack or cocaine? I think he had a crack problem!

The trouble my friend is that so many people complain how they were so poor and than throw that out simply out of the window as soon as they
buy a watch for 75K
-
::)
Explain.
-
Explain.
why on earth would you waste money like that?
-
Explain.
What's wrong with you? Are you begging for his attention or something?
-
why on earth would you waste money like that?
Didn't seem like a waste. It probably was, but so is my car, my tv, pretty much everything I buy I could find a cheaper alternative. But my wife works and makes great money, I'm doing ok and I like nice things.
-
I don't see how it's a bogus statement. I have a friend that grew up poor and when he came into money (a lot) he spends it on stupid shit. He doesn't give it to charity, or invest for his future.
-

100% true. But Irvin made more than a 3M a year for a pretty long career, and made around 1M a year as an analyst after he retired. Him buying a 75K watch is like me buying a 5K watch, it's all relative.
I mean, he IS an idiot, but that's another point entirely. I bet he spent way more on blow.
-
Nothing will ever change the fact that the pedigree or Mr. Irvin is beholden to a glib past of tilling and hoeing the white man's field. Money may buy an an expensive time piece, but it can never buy a new family tree.

or health.

Ya, probably so he could "escape" his terribly rich and famous life.

Do you have any idea what half the words you "use" mean?

BAHAHAHA HEALTH!!!! Most Pro bodybuilder cannot thing further than 5 min ahead...... Oh we were talking about people that have made a lot of money.

"glib"?

glib
adj 1: marked by lack of intellectual depth

Perhaps you know nothing of the inanity of being a human mule.

Well you surprise me by your quick google skills, now go find a word better describing your point.

We all are slaves to something.

Adonis is right on the money with his comment.

not cool but he imagines that most people will read it once or twice and than go....
Wow that was really deep... I guess that guy must be very smart
::)

Adonis is right on the money with his comment.
regardless, this is a BB board...why type that shit instead of just putting it in plain old everyday english that everyone uses?
monster trying to cover up his lack of self esteem by using big words to make him seem smarter than he is.
-
We all are slaves to something.
Ah, a beleaguered pessimist who tries to find solace in what he deems as "hard work". Perhaps in your world the slave mantra is justified. Clearly, you may be a slave to your watch payment for one. Originally your intent was to own the possessions instead of have them own you. Are you currently clawing your way out of your financial grave? How deep is your tomb?
-

Cool as a frozen cucumber.

I don't understand how saying that someone is not born to money is an insult. Both you and Adam do not have any real money. Both of you are not "old money" insulting "new money". Are you jealous that Michael was able to use his work ethic to make a lot of money? Do you hate yourself b/c you do nothing but post online all day? Why start a thread about how a wealthy person spends their money?
-

hold on...you're new here, right?
adams done the following that I can think of:
works for nasa
writes for major magazines-but no one knows what magazines, what his ghost name is or anything else
has trained a ton of people
worked for MD...opps, sorry about that one
fulll time student
what else am I missing?

I find it rather amusing that the commoner chooses to waste thier intelligence and time watching grown men chase balls around for no purpose. The majority of people who partake in the financial stability of Mr. Irvin are dumber than he is.
-
Had you rather I pretend to be dumb?
You are dumb. That's what is funny. You also give a lot away about yourself with your posts (as does everyone).
Ex. Adam goes on a tangent about cash and debt b/c Adam has spent nearly all of his inherited cash. He is hating himself right now for that, so his attenae are zoned in on this particular thread (as opposed to not posting in others). How much do you have left? 1000? 2000? Certainly not more than 3000? Time to split your time between Monster.com and getbig.

I'm neither beleaguered nor a pessimist. In actuality I'm an optimistic gambler. I have zero debt other than a mortgage, invest aggressively and enjoy my excess money on things that nobody needs, but I like.
One thing is for certain, I feel no superiority over anyone. I do believe I'm better adjusted than you are, but that's only from a perspective where I don't project my hate upon people who were historically less fortunate and taken advantage of. I don't believe in classifying individuals due to generalizations of their racial background. While superficially this might make you feel intelligent that you've "figured them out", in reality you are not in a position to make any such judgements.

Since when did this become a superiority argument. Facts were stated. Mr. Irvin is less than three generations away from picking cotton in the hot South Carolinian sun. Therefore his chosen expenditures are a figurative expression of disdain for his entire history of pater and mater familia. This is his way of finally feeling that he has now become emancipated.

None of what you've posted is fact. It's all supposition and while many might agree with you, you're words have no credence since you are at best a conflicted individual with confused ideals.

Also, if the above is true, who says he's not emancipated. Furthermore, what makes you more free than Mr. Irvin?

You aren't beholden to "the man"? ???

However,
It is not true emancipation though as his occupation has been nothing more than amusing droves of racist and unintelligent "fans" whilst expanding the coffers of his 20th and 21st century masters. Picking a ball up and running around for the amusement of an unintelligent white majority and not reaping total benefit is certainly as degrading as picking enough cotton in order to become a freed landowner.

Im not rich i do very well i have a taghuer 1200 bucks and a concord 750..
some people are into watches and will spend the money i like cars..I have a 56 Chev thats my expensive toy..

No, it's for mutual benefit. Irwin likely enjoyed his sport, and really enjoyed his money. I enjoyed watching his talented play, as I'm not jealous of his abilities but rather in awe of them.
You're rhetoric is dangerous. It shows no progress or diversion from flawed philosophy.

I think you will find that Mr. Irvin would agree with my entire assessment as evidenced by his anecdotal statement/commentary: Controversy continued to follow Irvin when during a November 2006 radio interview on the Dan Patrick show, Irvin joked that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's athletic ability may have been due to African-American heritage, and made references to Romo's maternal relatives being involved with "slave brothers".[8] Irvin later apologized. He explained himself saying, "this is how I joke around with Romo when we're playing basketball. There's a difference from me the player and me the broadcaster".[9]

Even if he did agree with your assessment Adam, it doesn't mean it's correct. In fact, from that quote I can assume Irwin has a large amount of pride both in his hard working ancestry, and his ascent to current position of affluence from such meager beginnings.
You really do demean yourself by your shortsighted, negative viewpoint.

It is a myth that slaves were hard working. Most were good for nothing and were sold amongst owner to owner. The expensive slaves were the ones who could cook well. Furthermore, the phenotype NEVER determines the genotype. Working in a field has no impact on future generations as this does nothing for evolution in any species of any kind. Furthermore, these people were NOT selectively bred. It would be impossible. Not only is there not enough time passage between generations to actively select traits, the entire gene pool was too wide stretched and mottled. The gene pool has to be isolated. You and Mr. Irvin should not use slavery as any kind of genetic justification. It just makes one appear entirely ignorant on the subject.
-
He's a crackhead, so it wouldn't surprise me.

Their own people sold them to moors, arabs and whitey for salt, rum and firearms. Sad, but true.

Ok, do you think Irvin has any idea about the above "information"? The point is, if he isn't a historian on his own gene pool, and he believes he came from hard working, genetically gifted ancestry, he likely views his current status as an accomplishment, no?
You really don't look at both sides of things before passing judgment. You merely find someone with theories which line up with those you'd like to see be true, and use them as justification for your way of thinking. Take the above statement, for example. How can you make a qualitative statement about the relative worth of slaves, and they're level of effort, without having ever owned a slave yourself? Surely slave-owners felt there was tremendous worth in such individuals. After all, did they not go to war over the point?
As for your assertion that working in a field had no genetic effect on future generations abilities, I believe this is unproven and furthermore, the statement that Romo must have "slave blood" is not so much an indication that slavery and it's practises had anything to do with genetics, but that those cut out for slave work likely have superior working genetics. That's right, Adam, negroes have better genetics for sport than white men. That's my unfounded viewpoint for the day...
-

The only qualities sought after in regards to slaves was the ability to produce children or those with skills using farm equipment. Slaves were a common commodity, easily bought and sold. Their price did not vary much from slave to slave. Quanity of slaves was always more important than quality since they were expendable.
-

As you can see, the criteria was not that high and the prices did not vary too much.

The trouble my friend is that so many people complain how they were so poor and than throw that out simply out of the window as soon as they

People who grow up poor and then come into money by fluke (sports, entertainment) tend to blow it because they don't have the same fear of poverty as someone who comes from money. To the latter, taking away his money would be the equivalent of cutting off his air supply.

What exactly is your point. How does this pertain to Micheal Irvin?

I wouldn't expect you to be terrified of my size, but you certainly are afraid of something. Plus, I'm 5'3" and 200 lbs, give or take a piece of cake or three.
Honestly, I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you said to me you were a cool guy, down to earth and "nothing like what I am on this board".

True, true...and yet, I'm not afraid to face such a monster as yourself in real life. Strange, isn't it?
At 186, I'd guestimate that I'm ~ 7% or so. I've never measured bf% though. One thing is for sure though, I could weigh the same as you and still be lower bf, even though I'm 9" shorter. That's pretty funny!

I'm little, but I'm deadly. Kinda a comfort in that.

I've been as high as 215. I had abs. 35 more lbs and I still wouldn't have blubbery rolls on my back, plus I'd actually have some calves.

squadfather do you have a clear, crisp picture of yourself? ::)
i've posted them dozens of times you fat worthless sack of donkey shit. :D
-
hahahaha, you can't even see my back, chief, BTW post up your picture again so we all see this mountain of ripped muscle that you claim to be.
That's the sad thing. If you can see anything from those pics, it's your love handles.
My pics are posted in the members pics section.
You're a fckn pussy, Dave.
-
no they seem to be some blurred doubleexposure nothing crisp
-
not gonna read all 4 pages but basically squadfather is a trailer park trash and everytime someone mentions something expensive whether it be a watch or tv he call bullshit and make a thread about it just because he thinks they talk shit just because he's clueless
hook that guy up with mtv cribs and give him a dosage of what the "inferior" blacks half his age got. that'll work as a wake up call of the real world

OMG I actually agree with you.
In fact, that might be the issue. Maybe Dave was embarrassed about his home, so decided instead to just ditch a fellow Getbigger. Shameful.

-
good stuff man, you look good, was that so hard?
Hard? Naw man I'm just dissapointed. I wanted to meet the legendary Squadfather and got ditched, is all.

Very close match..

Very close match..
LOLZ, ARMZ!!!

hahaha, i was listening to a sports radio talk show and the host had an interveiw with ex Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin and he was talking about how poor he was when he was growing up and then said that when he became rich he bought stuff like "a 75,000 dollar watch", hahahahahaaaaa, oh brother. ::)
SHUT THE FUCK UP, GOD HOW BORING, HOW S YOUR SISTER?

hahahahaa, i had one of those too, she was boring but nice. ;D

I don't get where the problem with that statement is. Lot's of wealthy people have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. I mean, I make about a tenth (or less) of what Irvin made a year, and I have a 6K Breitling and 9K Mueller.
Good investment. ::)
Don't forget lunch in Jan. ;D
I'll never understand people's obsession with showing how much money they earn, it's pretty sad. Usually, people who were born poor do this. Now they make 40k a year and have to lease a Hummer to show their worth...haha Oh man.
Nice things are great, but come on...jewelry is for women...oh and "intelligent" rappers. ;)

50 cent was on Kimmel a while back and said his watch cost 150 grand. His house was on Cribs last night and they made it an hour special. I guess it's the biggest house on the east coast. I honestly can't describe it, it was unbelievable. I know he is worth a half a billion or whatever from the Vitamin water deal, but I couldn't believe his house. He was going to his cars and saying "this one was a million, that one cost about 300...." and his driveway was filled with them :o
I just read it is 48,000 square feet.

If it's the house in CT. it's Mike Tyson's old house.

The Biltmore house in NC is the largest house in the World. Not 50 cents house. Don`t be a moron.

Yeah, 1775,000 square feet is bigger than 48,000. They said it on the show, maybe he meant biggest among east coast rappers.

Bigger than the next east coast rapper. ::) I swear these "rappers" are the most ignorant people alive. Of course their money comes directly from the ignorant, so in fact they are nothing more than a symbolic representative billboard for the stupid.
America has a way of fostering garbage.

Well said. To admire such a dumb person, is baffling. You'll never see a great real musician, who isn't pretty smart...just impossible. Have to love America. This country embraces mediocrity and stupidity.
I actually watch some regular tv on a plane ride recently and felt dumber by the time I landed. Simply horrid stuff.

I wonder how many racing dogs and expensive wine Fitty could buy?

The guy makes half a billion, projected 3 billion in the next 5 years from business deals pertaining to Vitamin Water, and you call him stupid. If you guys are all so smart, where's your billions?

Since when does monetary value equal success or intelligence?

Oh, about since the time stupid equated with near-zero earning potential.

Since when did getting lucky with a rap contract in an age of idiots, equate to intelligence? haha What a foolish statement.
I guess Tyson is another mental giant cause at one time he had half a billion or something...haha
Great logic. ::)

Anyone claiming that somebody who can make 500 million bucks is stupid, is stupid, and does not have 500 million bucks. That's pretty much as factual as I can be here. ;D

He made his money from an early investment in Vitamin Water, and was bought out by Coca-Cola for 500M bux. Whether or not his capital was earned through intelligence is moot, he clearly made good choices, and continues to do so. You sound really bitter all the time Kynan.
