hahahaa, oh brother, a 400 pound shirtless bench press by a 165 pound, 15 year old high school sophomore, i've heard it all now. ;D ::)
Can't remember, but I broke the BP record at my high school when I was a sophmore, the record was held by a senior at that time who weighed 225 and did 375, I broke it at 165 and did 395.

Do schools even have bench press records? I don't know anyone who has ever talked about a high school's bench press record.

Back in the day they did..........not sure about now.

Our coach kept records. Our football team won CIF for something like 15-20 years and had one of the biggest teams back then.
-

They sure do. Although it's more common in the west, south, and especially the midwest. Schools in most urban communities don't usually have it. Schools with a lot of team pride and big sports programs always do. My buddy still has the hang clean record from his school at 325 at 195lbs from his junior year.
-

Even more so now, especially with as much as schools and parents are pushing kids more and more. I have alot of high school kids I train and the parents are so fanatical it really pisses me off. It's not uncommon for a 16, 17 or 18 year old to bench 275 or more.
-
Looks like I'm wrong, apparently records are kept.
http://www.usapowerlifting.com/records/national/men-highschool.htm
Here are the current (as of 2007)reigning records at that weight:
75 kgs (165.25 lbs)
Squat J Kelly 529.00 1989
Bench Press T Smith 319.00 1991
Deadlift C Crockett 505.00 1990
Total J Kelly 1,278.00 1989
Wow, you annihilated the record of 319 lbs! :D

Some of it is the improved nutrition or hormones in the food. Kids are gettin bigger. I read somewhere that within 200 years, every birth will be C-section, as baby's size keeps getting bigger with each generation and kids are going to stop fitting down the pipes.

What high school did you go to
-
Here's another organization that has the highest record at 165lbs to be a 325 lb bench as of 1/04/08.
http://www.nasa-sports.com/American%20Records/MenUneqBP.htm
If the records are generally centered around 315-330 at this weight, I find it unbelievable for you to have bested these by 60+ pounds.

I don't know what to tell ya!

We had a big board with names on it. They were divided into collums with a seperate "club" they called it in each collumn. It started at 200 then 225 then 250 etc all the way to 375 but I don't think anyone ever got past 325-350. Don't recall.
However,The coach in charge of the strength training for the school would not put your name on the board if the weight was not decent strength for your body weight. If you weighed 200+ he wouldn't put you up there at all until at least 250
-
Why do people feel the need to make outrageous claims like this? Joe, do you think that you'd impress anyone here? Are you that starved for validation as a man that you seek it from total strangers on an internet board?

Bullshit!!!!

My two cousins benched over 400+ about every workout. One was 18 and the other 17 at the time. Weighted in around 220 to 240 when in high school.
Most high schools keep a bench and other lift records in SoCal and just about every where else. Usually posted on a gym wall in plain sight. Even have school lifting records on a blackboard. Every time a record is broken (even by a pound) the old record is erased. Colleges keep much better records. Coaches love that kind of stuff.
The biggest lies SF hears is when he is talking to himself.

Most parents baby their kids today. Kids today are soft. when I was growing up my parents said listen to the coach and shut the fuck up. Kids today are spoiled lil pussies.
-

Pasadena High School...nope, never trained during highschool but did at Bulldog some later years...do you remember the gym Fanatics? I think that was the name...Dennis Cuddehy (or something like that last name) worked there and also went to TC?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said on Friday the United States would have a long-term presence in Iraq that could "easily" last a decade, but that it would be at the invitation of the Iraqi government.
Big deal, we've had a presents in other countries for a hell of alot longer than 10 years.
-
Hi WMD!
Wasn't George Tenent Clinton's boy??
-
Ten years? I'd say we're there for life.
-
It is a big deal because first it was about WMDs (LIE), then it was all about "democracy and spreading freedom" (LIE).
Its all about colonialism, stealing oil, setting up a puppet govt and staying there against the will of the occupied.
This isnt a moral or just policy, its stupid and it will not work.
-
Wasn't George Tenent Clinton's boy??
Yes. Why did Dubya fire all of Clinton's staff but keep on this one guy? Hmmmmmmm
Also, when Dubya was warned of the 911 attacks and given target date and 5 of the attackers name - on Aug 5 (6 weeks before the attacks) - why didn't he stop them?
-

Yes, it's a lie. But yes, it will work.
It's useful to have bases in countries all over the world. It's great to own 80% of their oil contractually.
-
Wasn't George Tenent Clinton's boy??
I have a question.
WHy do you blame Clinton for 9/11?
Clinton was 9 months retired when it happened. Bush spent the summer shooting geese and ignoring 29 near-identical intelligence warnings about 9/11.
You're a former clinton voter - I'm not. I'll let you sit in that wet spot. But to blame him for something that happened 9 months after he left office? weak.
(and don't say he let bin laden go - Bush did it to in 2005 in Pakistan, and they admit they did it, so as to not undermine musharraf. Clinton pussied out for the same reason).
-
Yes, it's a lie. But yes, it will work.
Signed,
Robert McNamara 1968
No its a failed policy and it has already been a waste of 1 trillion dollars.
-

1. probably because he thought since he was the intelligence director he'd be of some help in his admin.
2. I'd bet anything he gets warned of attacks everyday, everyone is followed up, but which one's are credible? I'm sorry, how many times have we been hit on Clintons watch (and didn't do anything)...............a hell of alot more than on Bush's.
-

Robert McNamara 1968

I'll admit WMD was a lie.
but -
Iraq sits on 50 to 75 trillion dolalrs worth of oil.
they signed a contract in 2007 giving control and exploration rights to 80% of that oil to US oil companies to be sold in dollars at any price we choose.
At a 1 tril cost - to gain control of 80% of 50 tril worth of oil... to some ppl, that's a win.
-
1. probably because he thought since he was the intelligence director he'd be of some help in his admin.
AH. So Bush showed poor judgment in his hiring? Odd...

Yeah, these warning came from Isr, germany, and the FBI. On the same day. All with identical details. 5 of the hijackers names. All investigations stopped instantly by exec order. I guess you blame clinton for that, too?
I love ya joe, but come on... you're blind here. I'm a repub myself and I suuport this war, and I've been a repub a lot longer than you have. But this was intentional failue to act, so the attacks could happen, so we could justify a few wars. THe whole world knows it now. And only 20% of Americans fail to admit it.
-
Big deal, we've had a presents in other countries for a hell of alot longer than 10 years.
well we should go find those presents and open them! the waiting is the hardest part!
-
Well, the first time i read about this wasn`t on here, but in Muscle Digest way back in i think 1981,when they did an article on Joe`s chest workout as a teenager, and without remembering the exact numbers, the numbers Joe states here more or less tally with what was in the magazine.
-
wow, joe was in Muscle Digest as a teenager? That's damn impressive, seriously.
I believe he moved that weight. It might not have been competition-quality reps. I weighed 108 pounds my sophmore year (at 5'10") and I recorded a 170 pound bench in Weights class. Could I lift that much? Hell no. Was it creative spotting and a quarter inch range of motion? Sure! But I was so proud of that 170 number... I put that shit on the fridge when I got home.
-
Joe knows some great and friendly doctors.

hahahaa, oh brother, a 400 pound shirtless bench press by a 165 pound, 15 year old high school sophomore, i've heard it all now. ;D ::)
The current world record for sub-juniors (up to 18 years old), WITH a benchpress shirt, @165, is 400 lbs (182.5 kgs).
Held by Andrew Hollenbeck of the USA.
Sure, "joelocal" is benchpressing 395 lbs at age 15.
Without a benchpress shirt. ::)
Honestly, if any of I-One's claims are true, he should have no problem dominate non-tested benchpress competitions (if he's on "HRT" ::)).
I just came home from the gym, as it happens one of the best sub-juniors in the world in the 165 lbs division, was there training. He pressed 320 raw, but sure as hell wasn't light weight for him.
I-One would've kicked this guys ass so bad its not even funny. ::)

ahahahhaa, maybe there wasn't as much gravity back in 79. ;D

The democrats have trivialized the earth's gravitational pull.
Back when Reagan ran things, weights meant something.
Clinton screwed up powerlifting forever.

BTW, I don't doubt for a minute that I-One ("joelocal") is/was very strong.
But it seems unlikely that he would be some 80 lbs stronger than the very world elite of todays sub-juniors?
Granted, this kid that I trained with today is drug-free.

i agree with you, i have no doubt that Joe is a strong guy but 400 pound bench press at age 15 and 165 pounds or a raw 535 at 181 bodyweight later on? not as long as the grass is green and the sky is blue.

Pec-tear or no pec-tear, he should still be able to benchpress 445 lbs without a problem.
-
Doesn't the Bible say something about lying or false witness or something?
-
Pec-tear or no pec-tear, he should still be able to benchpress 445 lbs without a problem.
if he did 535 then yes absolutely.
-
Levrone recovered from a pec tear and did 500 for reps. Why cant joe do 405 for us, thats WAY off of 535 so it should be cake. I personally have a friend who tore his pec badly, didnt get it operated, and worked back up to within 50lbs of his previous max in 2yrs time.
-
I feel for Joe.........I was up to 775lbs before I got tennis elbow.
Now I'm lucky to do the bar.
-
Do schools even have bench press records? I don't know anyone who has ever talked about a high school's bench press record.
our school kept bench, squat, and incline records
-
I can remember something else Joe said to make me question his relationship with the truth. It was on a "Whether Personal Training is a good job" thread. Someone brought up a "con" of PTing: If you get hurt, you lose money because you can't train people. Joe mentioned a time when he was injured but didn't lose money because he had someone else train his clients.
Now, unless this person trained Joe's clients for free and gave Joe all the money, I don't see how Joe's statement could be true.
-
There is no way Joe did that, even if he started using a gram of test a week at 9 years old.
Maybe it was one of those "hands on the bar spotting" type of deals?
-
Our coach kept records. Our football team won CIF for something like 15-20 years and had one of the biggest teams back then.
Where did you go to HS Joe?

Hmmm. Joe takes his PT'ing seriously, so I'm sure he carefully chose a replacement for his clients as well as making sure he/she was paid for their substitute work. He probably meant that he didn't lose any clients while he was injured.
/i'm sure the replacement's political sympathies were right of center, too :D
-
what do u bench now joelocal?
-
No one gives a shit anymore.
Good luck in getting 6th you old fuck.
ROFL! ;D
Funny thing about that is that joelocal did come sixth, haha.

joe, you are pathetic.
well, lets call you out on this then shall we?
since as a teen you easily managed 400 pounds, i'm sure as a grown man, and adult (this is debatable) you should be able to push, say 450 for 1?
you tube it and i'll pay pal you $100.

These trainers are training clients that you normally would be training. Unless these trainers are such altruistic people that they would train your clients and give you ALL the money, you ARE losing money.
One is my wife..........hope this helps!
One would think that you go on vacation WITH your wife.
Why is it so hard to admit that, in your business, when you can't train clients for one reason or another, you lose money? It's not as though it diminishes the fact that you're the greatest high-school benchpresser of all-time. :D

Real men know dieting to look good for other dudes is gayer than bigbobs at a nasser expo. That is all
Jason
These "real men" also dies from heart disease before 45, alone and ugly, drinking beer with no real achievement in life.
On the other hand, a REAL MAN lives exactly as it is written in this thread:

Considering I'm one of the few on here who can, in most cases, back my shit up........she thinks it halarious, when she does come on here.

LOL.....it's all about the business :D

Why do some feel the need to validate such claims to people they don't know anyways? I don't get it. Does it help one sleep at night?
I mean no offense here, i just don't get it?
-
Let me know when she's online bro
She never posts anymore.........she knows most on here are literally kids, but she does know I like to f**k with them....it's just too damn easy. Case in point, all I have to do is post ONE thing and it's turns into this huge two thread meltdown by the haters.....again, it's just too damn easy!
-
LOL.....it's all about the business :D
It's true. The internet is an amazing training aid. Watch this:
" I can usually bench 425 for 3 on a good day."
my max bench ever just went from 315 to 425 for 3 in 5 seconds.
time for some cell tech and a protein shake.

At 15 i was jerking off every day but i did once squat 8 plates for reps ???

you haven't backed up any of your infamous strength claims, you do have a good physique i'll give you that but you haven't provided proof of any of your unbelievable bench press claims.

i still can't understand why a guy would come onto a bodybuilding website where people obviously know their way around the gym and claim such stupidly dishonest "lifts" like a Raw 535 pound bench press at 181 pounds bodyweight or a 400 pound bench Raw at age 15 and 165 pounds bodyweight, gimme a fuccking break. ::)

when I was in High school I wrestled 152 and usually weighed around 160 or so and 250 lbs was the most I could bench and it was very heavy for me at that weight.

Pretty much tired of going over this. I've givin names of reputable people I've trained with and what they have witnessed, contact them if you wish, shouldn't be that hard to locate since they are still in powerlifitng. We've gone over this a million times Dave, I have nothing to prove.....this is Getbig, remember?
Like I said, if I posted a youtube of my lifts, it would just be "fake plates". But since I'm not a powerlifter....I could care less.

FFS man for the last time POST SOME PROOF, i love the time tested classic, "i benched 535 at 181 but i'm not a powerlifter so i could care less about poundages, it's all about the mind muscle connection". ;D

I believe him...
today I was doing 500lbs for reps..then I squatted 405X10 X10 for the hell of it..
tomorrow I may dead 225lbx 125 as cardio

How much can you bench today?
-
He uses dumbells these days, because his shoulders cannot take any barbell work. ::)
Translation: I bench 225 for 3.
-
Do schools even have bench press records? I don't know anyone who has ever talked about a high school's bench press record.
Yes they do have record books , atleast where I am from in Florida. The record at my school was 505 , I am not sure what the weight of the kid was , but it was back in like 1988 or something but the kid went on to play linebacker at south carolina.
-
How much can you bench today?
1. DB everyother week heavy, up to 140 x 5-6
2. Easily 365 for at least 2 or until I start feeling the torn part of my chest pull.....but easily with a pause at the bottom. Sometimes, about once a month or so, I'll do board benchs or benchs with some band resistance.
-

You're such a great trainer that all your clients go on vacation at the same and to the same location as you so they don't miss a workout. :o

So these days, you're about at the same level of strength as when you were 15 years old?
But some 20-30 lbs heavier?
How does that add up?

Ok, I know you've been following these retarted thread's that SF's posted in the years and maybe you either don't remember some of the responses I've given or just don't want to accept them, so I'll go over it ONE MORE TIME.
I have always benched and trained heavy up until 2002 when I tore my chest for the first time, up until then I regularly went to 405 for reps on bench with no problems. After that I was afraid to train heavy on bench or do any straight bar work. About 2 years ago, I went back to bench every other chest workout alternating straight bar with DB's. It worked fine for about a month or so. One day I was doing close grip bench and it tore again.
Today, I rarely bench just for being afraid of ANOTHER tear, I also (as I mentioned in another thread, a partially torn labrum in my right shoulder). No, Zack, the strength is still there, but no more injuries. At my age I would an absolute idiot to train as heavy as I used to.
C'mon, Zack, I know your smarter than that, don't ask stupid questions!
-

yep-absolute bullshit-even if it was true for example with a college FB player, itd be a 300+ pound lineman. Like there is a 17 year old linebacker benching 505 ::)

you never know. there's a few freaks out there. at my high school a dude hit 385 as a sophomore weighing around 250 and we were hardly a school known for the bigger dudes. let the kid bounce it off his chest and bring his ass up and i'm willing to bet there are quite a few high schoolers capable of it. there's some genetic freaks out there.

I wipe my bunghole with your business practices.
It's just that, back in the day, I worked as a pt, and it's insulting that you claim to not lose money if you, for some reason, can't train clients; the same way it's insulting to some people here that you claim to have had a bigger bench than Ted Arcidi had as a 15 year old.
Do you really have such dedicated trainers that they would train your clients, charge your rate, then give you ALL the money they made for the session? I'm having a hard time buying that you would inspire that type of selflessness.
-

I see what you are saying now. Yes, of course I pay my trainers. If they have an opening in their schedules to take some of my clients when I am gone, I pay them for that session. But one on one isn't the only thing we do.

But one on one isn't the only thing we do.
You two are still newlyweds Joe. :(

Biggest lie on GB yet.
I will try and find a link of this for you. I did not witness this as I was born in 86' , but that is what the records tell for Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers Florida. Now there are a lot of strong high schoolers. Look at the high school football combines. Bench Press 185 as many as you can. I got 24 at 209 lbs at UF football camp and the top was something rediculous like 39 or 40. But as for myself , I was my strongest at 17 with a 350lb bench. Unfortunately I think I primed out early as it hasnt gotten stronger in 4 years. Now I dont believe that a 400lb bench by a 165 lb kid is accurate.
-

Benched 395 at 15, and bench 365...
TWENTY FIVE YEARS LATER.
Okay Liar.

A 385 lbs benchpress @ 250 lbs bodyweight, sure I can believe that. Very, very good benchpress at that age.
Now subtract 85 lbs from the bodyweight and add 10 lbs to the bar, and you have the weights Intenseone claims at the same age.
395 lbs@165lbs.

I think you should give benchpress competition a shot.
Training with a shirt won't stress the pec.
And if any of your claims are true, you should easily be able to win any competition you decide on enter.
Just remember to compete in non-tested organisations such as WPO and USPF. 8)

You ever tried a shirt though? ;D
C'mon, you need to try a shirt.

Get a size 44 or 46 to train with, and perhaps a size 42 for the competitions.
You know you want to. :-*

Never tried a shirt, they didn't have them back then. It's kinda like cheating. How much would it add to say a 405 bench?
-

You would need to train with it thoroughly, it's like everything, you becomes good at what you train at. Some guys don't get more than 20-30 lbs from it, and it doesn't matter how much they train with the shirt.
But you could probably with some 3-4 months of training reach a 500 lbs benchpress, depending on how much fat tissue you're willing to put on. 8)
You have short arms, a stocky build. Which indicates you would have no big issues with the shirt.
Most of all, you need to be strong at the lockout, and the top of the ROM, where the shirt helps the least.

Joe, how old were you when you did your first cycle? 12, 13?

15, Dr.Kerr. It was legal back then.

Of course not, nor would I recommend it to someone who's body isn't fully mature, alot less was known back then.
-
WTF ? Joe you were juiced to the gills as a 15 year old ? ;D
-
Yeah, at 16 I was 5'4 and a shredded 260 benching 900 :)
-
Joe you might be 6 feet tall if it wasnt for all the aas at age 15, you realize that dont you ? ;D That will seriously stunt your growth.

No one in my family was close to 6ft, but then again, if we knew then what we know now.....

Can't remember, but I broke the BP record at my high school when I was a sophmore, the record was held by a senior at that time who weighed 225 and did 375, I broke it at 165 and did 395.
lol.
lmao.
bwahahahaha.
fuck you are such a loser.
-
Props to Joe for being honest about starting at 15. I don't think it will stunt growth all or even most of the time either. Depends on the compounds used and how far along you are in your natural development etc etc.
Still don't believe the 405 bench 8)
Anyone know of any 15 year old weighing less than say 200lbs benching that much raw, ever? I mean a verified lift. I don't see why Joe would totally make it up, but maybe it's the truth with a slight modification. Perhaps a hands on the bar spot (Dingleberry style).

oh yeah, that's total BS. i meant the guy who said someone at his school hit over 500. 395@165 is beyond world class. that's the kind of thing that would get him sought after by colleges immediately.
-
do you remember the gym Fanatics?
Yes, Rick something's place on Las Tunas, it had a funny smell. Dude took renewals up 'til the day he closed shop, but Sue gave us all a huge 'Fuck Fanatics!' discount at Foothill. She was cool.
And Dennis was a tool.

I'm going to get blasted for this and rightfully so. I was down at my mom's house tonight and tried to find something on my high school record, even though I couldn't find anything, I did call a friend that I do keep in contact with and asked him......even though I did think my record was 395.......he laughed and said I was full of shit, somehow he remembers better than me, but he said the previous record that was set by the guy I mentioned in a previous post was 340, he said that I did 365.......not 395. I was wrong.

It was small and hardcore...i worked with Dennis at the Black Angus in the 80's and i remember him being one of the "bigger" guys around...not sure what he's up to. Hate the fact i remember he drove/drives? an El Camino.
Sue was a good woman although i did not go there when she owned Foothill. I walked in one evening to it check out and was totally intimidated so i left. I started going there when Hans owned it in 99' with the Sayegh's.
Yes, sue was cool, I remember when her and her husband divorced, I think thats when Hans and Molly came on, I think they eventually baught Foothill. Lisa, correct me if I'm wrong on that.
Yep, that's exactly how it went...Sue had hired Hans years before when he came here from Australia, living in Venice, meeting Molly...he used to clean the place, eventually becoming a trainer, and then buying it. The last i saw Sue was at Hans' funeral.

oh yeah, that's total BS. i meant the guy who said someone at his school hit over 500. 395@165 is beyond world class. that's the kind of thing that would get him sought after by colleges immediately.
Why?

Ahhh....no, not even close. Maybe if I was 8" taller and 60lbs heavier, but then again a strong bench doesn't translate to skills.

depends on the sport. wrestling? you'd be dynamite.
I was wrong.
oh, well then. if your friend that you called said 365 then that's good enough for me! granted you couldn't find any proof, but if your friend will vouch that you got 365 i can't imagine anyone will doubt you now.

Weighed in at 204 this morning and about 5mins ago pulled off a double @ 405 on the bench. Is that good :-)??

sorry, your training partner, the Easter Bunny, might not let me sit in.
Also it's a long drive to Fantasyland, so I think I'll pass.

Olympic Weight Lifting coaches would have been swarming around a kid who could bench 360 at 15.
I do not doubt your lift but with that strenght at such a young age you would have been Dynamite Olympic lifting.

Mad Nikles.....sure he would

people lie. like you did about your 395 bench at age 15, remember? ;)
Also, people will get caught up in the moment and ignorre range of motion. Chances are you moved those 405 pounds about an inch, got up, and flexed in the mirror, hotshot.

Full ROM, ass didn't move off the bench.

i don't give a shit if you can move 365 or 405 now. you claimed to hit 395 (now 365) at 15, and then 535 as an adult.
unless we have a video of you throwing at least 455 up like candy "Full ROM, ass didn't move off the bench," then we're all going to assume you're full of crap. someone seeing you hit 365 or 405 now doesn't mean jack, i'd HOPE you can hit that much as a man with 20 years of lifting under his belt and a number of extra hormones at some point. i've only been lifting a few years without the "help" and have hit 365.
you look great man, quit hurting your image by throwing bullshit around or, to give you the benefit of the doubt, stories you can't back up.

I benched 495 for 10 today and took a pic. Sadly I forgot to take the lens off my camera.

You obviously didn't see me watching as I was repping out an easy 20 concentration curls with the 140lb dumbells at my ripped bodyweight of 125lbs at 6 8".

Today I deadlifted 4000 pounds for 2 hours straight.
The only person who saw it though, was my supermodel gf, and she can't talk with my junk in her mouth.
