Just recently I've noticed a phenominal improvement among the top European bodybuilders. One kid in particular whose age has been reported as low as 18 and as high as 22 (looks much younger to me) has one of the greatest potentials for a young bodybuilder that I have ever seen. And he is only one of many upcoming greats from that region of the world. (Photo below)
What's been happening over there?
-
Another shot of a future pro from Europe.
-
Chernobyl.
-
Good thing Squadfather doesn't live in Europe,he'd have these kids on the porkrind and malt liquer diet in no time.
-
The population of the US is 301 million, and we produce a dozen pros a year.
The population of Europe is 728 million. There should be twice as many pro level physiques.
btw, Aleksei Lesukov (http://musclememory.com/show.php?a=Lesukov,+Aleksei) will be 20 in May.
-
Thanks, Tim! logical answer, but do you see what can be called better top level physiques coming out of Europe rather than the US? To be honest, I was at the last Olympia and was totally un-impressed by mot of the guys on that stage ....exception was WOLF and a couple of others.
But Europe appears to be producing top bodybuilders without that "bloated" look that is so common among the US pros.
And thanks for the age correction on Aleksei. I personally rate him as one of the greatest 20 year old competitors I've ever seen with a better build than many of the IFBB pros. Do you agree or disagree with that statement? Have you ever seen a 20 year old bodybuilder with a better build?
Something more than population figures is going on over there.
Thanks, Tim. Anyone else care to jump in here, feel free to do so.

gear isnt nearly as regulated in europe as it is in the states. there is your answer

One word: Russia.

so therefore you'd expect them to be more bloated. but they're not, so I think it's the type of drugs. less use of GH and insulin perhaps?
-
One word: Russia.
Piotrkowicz - Poland
Slodkiewicz - Poland
Brzoska - Poland
Pocius - Lithuania
Havlik - Slovakia
Machado - Spain
Kocis - Slovakia
Scheu - Germany
Konstedt - Switzerland

To some extent, i would say yes.
Also remember these guys were pretty young when they started roids.
Also, a common beginner's cycle of roids here in germany is 16-20 weeks testosterone enantate 250mg e5d.
Most guys don't even bother getting off but just stack other components with this. Deca or D-Bol when they want mass, tren when they want to cut. ::) ::)
First cycle.
-
who has that picture of him standing next to this chick who was towering him
the kid looks amazing...but he's 5'4''...maybe shorter
-
Better gear than in the USA. And easier to obtain.

I agree with you , you're going to see many more Europeans Pros doing a lot of damage in the ranks , lots of untapped potential in Europe

That's because in the US every punk gets his pro card sticked in his ass at the Nationals and USAs. In Europe its much harder to get a pro card. Ten out of the 12 shitty pros the US produces a year who wouldn't even stand the slightest chance at the Amateur world championships, where the Europeans have to make it to the finals to get a pro card.
-

perhaps. ive never used either, but i dont believe gh to cause this 'bloat' in the stomachs that is so common today. my theory behind that is the slin and visceral fat. no scientific proof behind that, its just my theory

STFU, piky girl.

no, that is the current theory, the combination of insulin and gh. lots of diabetics take insulin and don't have the massive increase in visceral fat.
-

IF the IFBB would 1) give them pro cards, and 2) hold contests in Europe. There are currently none scheduled for 2008.

All the diabetics I know already have huge guts....

All the diabetics I know already have huge guts....
Type II is from a lifetime of bad diet and usually occurs in middle age. Type I starts out in childhood and all the ones I know are quite thin.

Another piky ####?
what on earth is a piky?
Im Irish.
-
Thanks for some of this intelligent input. If I run across any other decent pictures of these guys "overseas" who appear to be in better shape than most of the US Pros, I'll do my best to post them on here in an attempt to show the general difference between US Pros and those guys on the other side of the Atlantic.

Wikipedia said it was a derogatory term for Irish people. :-\

Tim, the US is a country, Europe(believe it or not) isn't, it's a continent. There is a diference ;)
-
so therefore you'd expect them to be more bloated. but they're not, so I think it's the type of drugs. less use of GH and insulin perhaps?
To me it looks like the Russians are on more GH and insulin than the Americans, if anything. Low bodyfat but a film of water under the skin. Perhaps it's the dream tan that adds to this impression, I don't know.
-

Even though it's a bit of a blanket statement, I think it is possible that the 'average bodybuilder' (as in one who is trying to make it in the field of bodybuilding as a front runner) in Russia and other parts of Europe may be harder working than their counter parts in the US, who have it (relatively) easy in terms of access to gyms, 'supplements', gurus etc. Not to mention the distractions that such a lifestyle would entail.
I could be wrong though, not to mention I'm sure there's quite a few exceptions on both sides.
-
why are americans talking about europe as if it's one united country ::)
because it is! all your borders are belong to us

Europe is such a beautiful country ::)

Someone should tell this to the Ryder Cup people!!! Just doesn't seem fair for the US to have to take on a whole continent.

This russian dude is on every drug that is avalible for a bodybuilder. Slin/HGH/High amounts of gear.
Ofcourse you still need the genetics and consistency, but drugs are very important.

It also helps greatly to be 4 feet tall.

They have been saying this for years, ever since Dorian took the Olympia, hasn't really happened...yet. You may have one or two that come up, remember the hype that was Alex Ferderov? Well, once you start looking at the physique it wasn't much. Wolf is good, but only time will tell. The US has a bigger gene pool that get into bodybuilding, due to our genetic diversity, than Europe does, and this has been said by bbers on both sides of the Atlantic, so you actually see the better physiques (initially) over here, and that is the key word, "initial", they eventually screw it up with the insulin and the HGH.
I think a lot of people still remember the days of the East European block and former Russian states and their Olympic drug experiments, and beleive that they are still as sneaky, like they have some sort of secret bbing weapon...and Alex Ferderov was suppose to be it

the problem is that too many young guys in the US think that the supplements that you can buy at bb.com will actually make them big. then they have less money for things that actually work.
-
I have to admit that the ladies' are looking mighty fine in Europe too!
-

As true as that is, the underlying cause is something that's pretty widespread these days (unfortunately) - a lack of work ethics. People are too f*cking lazy and just want shortcuts with everything. They seem to be under the impression that the lack of hard work can be made up for by using some product / service / technology that over promises and under delivers.
No wonder the infomercials are so successful when it comes to selling products like ab machines that promise to give you a 6 pack that would make Achim Albretch or Ahmad Haider jealous, all for just under 3 minutes of workouts thrice a week ::) :-\

Where is Europe?...some like a place where the French would hang out :(
