why all the focus on whether pros can hold contest size in the offseason?
My answer: it's pretty interesting to see how inherently fake bodybuilding is. It's amazing how little time it takes for hormones to have such a huge impact.

well, anyone who's been on the boards for a few months or followed bbing for a year or so, should know about hormones and how much of a difference in size a bber on hormones is compared to a natty. therefore, when off hormones (or on very reduced dose), the bber will drop to just above natural size. that's pretty much common sense.
i just dont see why it's a problem if they're smaller.

i think all the hype has to dowith the fact that usually bobybuilders are bigger fatter after their contest, but it looks like phil dropped 20 pounds after contest.... honestly, whos the last BB you remember that LOST SIZE after a contest?
they usually pig out and gain another 20 pounds of fat and water, not lose it...

well he makes money winning shows not walking around all year juiced up to the gills, doing that will give him serious sides
in addition getting off the slin gh ifg and givning the body a break as well as stopping to train for 6-8 weeks then redoing it will give you amazing quality size gains once you start back up and as anyone knows getting back to the size you already had is easy

Smaller, relatively, oh yes. I was just responding to the typical Getbigger who looking at that photo dismisses Phil as 'small.' If I stood next to him, now that would be small. Dude is a big big man, just not at his largest.

I used to take 16 weeks off after a cycle and i used for 10 years, now natural for 4.

AGREED - Pumped against cold makes a huge difference. Saw Mike Quinn in seminar and guest pose in the late '80's - at the seminar he looked small, even his arms, legs looked like a bank managers in his spandex shorts, BUT after pumping up, he came back and looked HUGE with thighs looking pretty full (for him anyway)
