This guy is a circus performer from Russia. ::)

-
Andy Bolton better watch out ::)
-
Squadfather what do you think?
-
very impressive!!

i'm not saying the vids are real, but i'd be willing to bet there IS a hefty amount of weight on the bar.
valentin dikul is very well known russian strongman. guy broke his back at 16 and managed to come back from paralysis. apparently his list of feats is pretty long, bending really thick nails, doing partial squats with small cars on a big goofy rig he set up, that kind of thing. all legitimate. google the guy.
supposedly the people from guinness were in attendance when that video was taken (meaning the weights would have to be for real), but i'm unsure about that part. what DOES make me think it's possibly legitimate is that, despite using really high numbers on the squat and pull, he goes for 550 on the bench. that's a big bench, sure, but a hell of a lot less otherworldly than the other two. you'd think if he was going to be faking giant record-busting lifts, he'd take the bench record as well.

Is 2570 the world record? Is that why the folks at Guinness were there?

BAM!
there all your credibility went! ;D
This guy is a known faker.
Just leave it at that.
Now go back to spank the monkey to "hairy" clips of Femis and Konstatin, bro. ;)
And yes, they're both much stronger than Dikul too, I promise. ;D

yeah, the raw record. by a good 200 pounds i believe. he'd also have the all-time raw squat record (i think), and he's ahead of andy bolton's deadlift record by a few pounds. at the time this showed up, he had the deadlift record beaten by a good 70.
the thing is, everyone shits on this because "if it was real he'd do a meet and break records". but while, again, i'm not saying this is definitely real, the fact is the odds of there being a few people out there who could break records if they competed but choose not to is VERY high. even on PL forums there are guys who, while not record breakers, are certainly top-level elite but just don't want to go to meets.
i've seen all the arguments against it. "he shakes too much on the squat", "the bar bends too much on the bench", etc. yeah there's points to it, but unless you were there, you don't know. and you can't argue that he definitely LOOKS like he's exerting himself to the best of his ability, so if it's not 550 on the bench, it's gotta be however much he can do.
hedge, how about YOU go back to insisting that single-ply lifters are gods despite getting outlifted even RAW by other guys. ::)

Raw lifters are better. Why use technology to lift more weight? That's never made any sense to me.

No.
No, no, no.
Dikul uses fake equipment. That's why the bar bends.
Use your fcuking logic mate.
How the fcuk is he gonna step out 1000 + lbs without equipment, when Captain Kirk and Shane Hamman shakes with that weight?
Tell us you're just kidding. Please. ???

Haha magoo believes in fairy tales.

if the guinness guys were there, it has to be real. Guys a freak.

Rob Dyrdek broke 21 world records one day and the Guinnes guy showed up to make sure they were legit. They wouldn't send out a guy to Russia of all places if the plates were fake. It has to be legit.

maybe they were duped, and didn't know about fake plates? ;)

You can clearly see suited officials present, not everyday dress code for downtown moscow.
Whats all the more freaky is that he does it without equipement, and spotters.
He has some freaky old man strength for sure.

Nah.
we're only jealous of that guy who went into a public bath room looking like straight out of some Bollywood blockbuster type of deal.
Friend of yours?

Or maybe the plates were real? I would like to see a decent argument as to why they are fake and not just people saying "because I post all the time on a messageboard and I say so".

i'd say there's maybe a 10 percent chance it could be real, so no it's not real.

If Guiness was there to verify and they did then it is pretty safe to say it is authentic. Guiness does a very good job and verifying things, that is the reason they have been around for many many many years and are known as the benchmark for record setting feats and accomplishments. Plus with a video it has to be real :)
