Bob was doing the victory dance on PBW for nailing the Ben White prediction. Score one for Chick :)
-
wow... bob said that they ran into ben white BEFORE the show.
ben White was STILL talking trash about Johnny jackson.
why the hatred? He's begging for scraps - 6th place at the New York scrubb show - and he is sitll talking shit?
-
He looked small next to the other competitors.

Many pros have a back that looks like that while standing relaxed...I mean
REALLY relaxed...not when they relax in the 'relaxed' round
His incessant spewing of hate seals his contest placing doom
Gee...I hope he actually reads this stuff here :)
-
at least he got that terrible gyno fixed. ;D
he talks like he is mentally challenged or very slow in the head
-
What did White win to become a pro, anyhow?

He won the USA last year...

Chick ONWS ben

He won the USA last year...
Isn't the USA's kind of a scrub show, as pro-qualifiers go? The Nationals is where the real champs win their pro cards.
-
He won the USA last year...
Thanks Chick.
He should work on his social comportment skills...as you are no doubt aware....

No one that wins the USA or the Nationals is a "scrub".....try it sometime.

EVERYBODY in every class is good. I did it in 1998 and had my eyes open to what National level shows are about. If you can place top 15 at Nationals, you are a good bber. Every guy in your class has at least won an overall at some point. Ben didn't have the density of the other top 5 guys. When he stood next to Kai it was night and day. I would have had Ben behind Leo Ingram

You'll have to excuse Goatboy...he"s never had the guts to get onstage, yet talks like he's walked the walk.

No.... I'm pretty sure USA winners are scrubs.
BTW, how did you win your pro card? Nationals, right?

How dare football fans and sportscasters criticize the play of their team on Monday morning! After all, if they haven't put on pads and a helmet and been drafted by an NFL team they have no right to do so! >:(

The "rules" in bodybuilding are very simple: don't compete in a rival federation. Everything else is just a "suggestion" in the "code of conduct", right Bob? :D

hard to argue this one.
rules exist prohibiting many behaviors.
rules, even when broken blatently, are only enforced when someone competes in a rival fed.
hard to argue it when it's precisely what's happened for the last 2 years.
-
No.... I'm pretty sure USA winners are scrubs.
BTW, how did you win your pro card? Nationals, right?
Yeah Phil Heath and Flex Wheeler are total scrubs ::)

No.... I'm pretty sure USA winners are scrubs.
Here is a list of your Scrubs......Again you don't know ANYTHING about Bodybuilding...
-
that's a good list, but the vast majority had mediocre to no pro career.
In 25 years.... you have Flex, Cormier, Heath.......... and a bunch of mediocre guys that didn't win many shows.

Is that "precisely" what has happened?
Didn't know you were being kept aware of what goes on concerning the pro's, any diciplinary actions/ warnings, etc.
-

In 25 years.... you have Flex, Cormier, Heath.......... and a bunch of mediocre guys that didn't win many shows.
Flex Magazine recently published a list of comperasion between the USA winners and National winners in which the USA winners significantly beat the National winners in PRO victories and overall performance in the Pro ranks
-
I love all the people wasting time making counter-arguments about my "USA winners are scrubs" comment.
Is it perhaps possible that I knew Bob Chick was the 2000 USA winner, and that maybe, just maybe, I was ragging on him? ::)

Yeah... you could make the same argument for the Nationals winners.
BTW...when compared to each other, the USA winners beat out the Nationals winners rather convincingly.

Or maybe it was just so obvious, that it failed miserably.

I am sorry ....I forgot you are an Expert
-
Is that "precisely" what has happened?
Didn't know you were being kept aware of what goes on concerning the pro's, any diciplinary actions/ warnings, etc.
I see.
So they are publicly punished when they go to a rival federation.
And they are quietly warned when they have sex with fruit, make porn, go to prison, etc.
Thanks for proving my point!
-

You know, if you had said "Epic FAIL" instead I might have chuckled.

KInd of tough to keep in "in house", when someone is suspended from the federation....
There is plenty of disciplinary action taken, other than to the athletes themselves...there is no reason to make announcements to people that don't matter.

The same point can be made to any other organization in which rules are applied differently to different athletes. KOBE????......BONDS????....Giambi????....and go on and on

I only knew this because his screen name on Mayhen was "USA2K" or something like that. You, on the other hand, seem to be able to pull a list of every winner since 1982 out of your ass:
1982 - Dale Ruplinger

can someone list the nationals winners, so we can see if there are more than 3 top-tier bodybuidlers on there?
We got 3 top-tier guys, out of 25 winners.
How many top-tier guys on the nationals list?

This is the most entertaining thread I've read in a while! ;D

You = which getbig member?
"Evil Angel". He = a dumb fool.
Why is Ben White not named Ben African American? :o
-
So you have 3 great USA winners.
As far as great Nationals winners?
Haney, Ray, Levrone, martinez... 4 easy ones, and you can make a case for a few others.
Since 4 > 3, I think we can determine that nationals > USAs.

1982 - Lee Haney

how does lee priest's suspension make flex headlines, but these so-called diciplinary actions taken on others "not the business of the fans" ?
That's not the business of the fans....in any sport.
-
how does lee priest's suspension make flex headlines, but these so-called diciplinary actions taken on others "not the business of the fans" ?
Because they are still in the federation..it's called internal affairs. This isn't a publicly traded company...
-
Because they are still in the federation..it's called internal affairs. This isn't a publicly traded company...
Player disciplinary actions in the NFL are reported on a regular basis. Same with NBA, MLB, etc. None of these are "publicly traded". What makes bodybuilding so special that what is obviously considered the "fans' business" in all major sports is considered an "internal matter" in the IFBB? ::)
-
Because they are still in the federation..it's called internal affairs. This isn't a publicly traded company...
You announced the status of lee's suspension and appeals on the radio for thousands of listeners.

There is plenty that you never hear, and plenty more that they announce "will be handled internally"....what you hear is what they choose to put out there.
-
You announced the status of lee's suspension and appeals on the radio for thousands of listeners.
Yeah...whats your point?
-
No.... I'm pretty sure USA winners are scrubs.
BTW, how did you win your pro card? Nationals, right?
Hmmmmm...
Didn't a "scrub" USA Champion win his first two pro shows his rookie year, more recently winning the IronMan this year?
What about that other "scrub", who won his first FOUR pro shows and FOUR Arnold Classic titles?
And, if I'm not mistaken, the last IFBB Night Of Champions winner, was a "scrub" USA champion, too.
-
what you hear is what they choose to put out there.
Okay.
Why do "they choose" only to release details on suspensions/discipline when it involves a rival federation?
Is a non-profit organization attempting to intimidate its employees?
-
There is plenty that you never hear
And you know this because you, Bob Chick, are privy to the inner workings of major sports leagues? ::)
-
Yeah...whats your point?
Why did you choose to air Lee's suspension laundry, yet you chose not to air any suspension for Victor's felony drug sale conviction or Denise masino hardcore porn video?
-
Okay.
Why do "they choose" only to release details on suspensions/discipline when it involves a rival federation?

Already answered.....
They have no "employees"...

How long will it be before the average meathead can recognize the difference between making a valid argument and taking a shot at Bob Chick?
-
well at least 12 nat winners won a pro show and 1 was mr olympia.and taylor and levrone have over 20wins each not bad...
-
Why did you choose to air Lee's suspension laundry, yet you chose not to air any suspension for Victor's felony drug sale conviction or Denise masino hardcore porn video?
Vic went to jail...I don't think we were even on the air at that time. It was covered by every mag and outlet at that time, just like the Titus story, etc....there are big stories, and there is INTERNAL BUSINESS....small things that don't merrit headlines.
-

yea but I know a few that got the 'shaft'

Small things, like the Pittsburgh Steelers' third-string left tackle failing a drug test: "internal business" that gets promptly reported by the league. ::)
The IFBB is schizophrenic... it wants to be a "private, closely-held business" when it suits them, but it wants to be seen as a major "sports federation" when it suits them. When will you learn you can't have it both ways? ::)
-
well at least 12 nat winners won a pro show and 1 was mr olympia.and taylor and levrone have over 20wins each not bad...
One overall champion and one class winner has a Sandow on his mantle.
However, the USA winners have done alright for themselves. I count 8 USA Champions that have won a pro show.

-
Because they are still in the federation..it's called internal affairs. This isn't a publicly traded company...
many law enforcement agencys have internal affairs divisions...they monitor corruption.

With the exception of 2001 O and that ASC back in the 90's, when have you jokers ever done any real drug testing? ::) C'mon, Bob, that was weak even for you.
-

How dare the business press make comments or analysis about the Microsoft/Yahoo proposed merger deal! Are they part of either of those companies in any capacity? Forget those companies, do they work in the software field at all? Do they even hold MBA's??
-

Whats the difference how many times they've done it? Whenever they have, they released the info...
Whats weak is your inability to understand the difference between "headline news" and "family business"....
-

The Business press is educated and well informed about Business. The Reporters in ESPN or are ex-PRO,Historians or being involved in the sport their commenting for several years. If you are going to be comment about Bodybuilding and start making statements...you need to know what you talking about or you can just continue to make yourself stupid.....
-
Whats the difference how many times they've done it? Whenever they have, they released the info...

The point is, in major sporting federations, like the NFL, NBA, etc, who depend on their fans for their livlihood, the presumption is "the fans have a right to know". Very little is considered "family business", as you put it. The IFBB, on the other hand, while holding itself out there as a major sporting federation, seems to want everything to be considered "family business"... they would prefer the fans know as little as possible outside of who won what and which pills and powders we should buy.
-
The Business press is educated and well informed about Business.
Wow are you naive. ::)
-
you are right. Its an family run monopoly with a joke of rulebook that is arbitrarily enforced.
internal affairs rules vs. competing outside the federation rules
Gee chick, it looks like you've invented yet another piece of hidden criteria in the IFBB rulebook
Because they are still in the federation..it's called internal affairs. This isn't a publicly traded company...

Given your statement..do you believe major sports feds disclose ALL information to the media?
Do you believe there is some business that is taken care of behind closed doors?
-
Given your statement..do you believe major sports feds disclose ALL information to the media?
Do you believe there is some business that is taken care of behind closed doors?
It doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" kind of argument. In terms of information disclosure, the NFL is a chatty teenage girl, while the IFBB is the Soviet Politburo.
-
I understand both sides of the argument, so I'm not trying to throw gasoline on a fire here...BUT...
It seems to me that what Priest did, while it was a violation of the rules, was more of an issue because the IFBB regarded it as Disrespect. I know, the MD boards have the patent on the godfather jargon, but I think it's okay to use it here!
Masino (and many of the female BBers on her site/ in her mag) are breaking the rules, but it's not taking business away from the IFBB. Same with Kai, same with any BBer doing porn etc... I DO feel, however, that such behavior is far more detrimental to the sport than Priest competing in a rival federation.
I'm not naiive, and I know BBing will NEVER be more than a fringe, cult "sport", and to call something 'dmamging' to bodybuilding's image is kind of like spitting into the ocean.
All things being equal, I would think that the IFBB would be a bit more concerned about image. I'm not saying Lee shouldn't have been suspended, he sould have. But he took his medicine and now the IFBB is unduly penalizing him to make a point.
I had a point when I started this pose, but I lost it somewhere!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the IFBB's unwillingness to punish the beavior of Masino, Kai etc, and to over-punish Priest smacks of selective ethics and an overall disingenuous policy of rule enforcement.
-
It doesn't have to be an "all or nothing" kind of argument. In terms of information disclosure, the NFL is a chatty teenage girl, while the IFBB is the Soviet Politburo.
So, I take it you refuse to answer the two questions I asked?
-
You'll have to excuse Goatboy...he"s never had the guts to get onstage, yet talks like he's walked the walk.
HAHAHA I love it, but yet he feels justified to bash people that he couldnt even amount to their pinki toe.. LMAO!
-
Isn't the USA's kind of a scrub show, as pro-qualifiers go? The Nationals is where the real champs win their pro cards.
Although the field is deeper at Nationals, there are also a lot more pro cards available.
Winning when only 1 or 2 cards are available...that's saying something.
Now, did he really 'win' the USAs or was that a gift?
-
So, I take it you refuse to answer the two questions I asked?
I believe I did. But your questions completely miss the point. Because the NFL may keep 0.001% of things private while making public all else that does not justify the IFBB wanting to keep 98% of things private. The NFL and other major sports leagues believe the fans have a right to know most things, the IFBB would prefer the fans know as little as possible.
The issue is the IFBB doesn't act like a real sports federation, yet wants to be thought of as one.
-

Real simple:
YES or NO, to the questions
-
Now, did he really 'win' the USAs or was that a gift?
I don't know... did Bodybuilding.com sponsor the USA's that year? ;D
-
Here, Bob, I've modified my previous post to account for your complete inability to read between the lines. ::) It doesn't change the substance of the post one iota:
Yes, the NFL probably does not disclose a small number of things it does regarding the players. But your questions completely miss the point. Just because the NFL may keep 0.001% of things private while making public all else that does not justify the IFBB wanting to keep 98% of things private. The NFL and other major sports leagues believe the fans have a right to know most things, the IFBB would prefer the fans know as little as possible.
The issue is the IFBB doesn't act like a real sports federation, yet wants to be thought of as one.

Imagine if Greene and Masino won their respective Olympias. You talk about a PR nightmare in the making.

they can't win the olympia because it is a fixed show.
hope this helps.
