This dickcheese couldn't pass the LSAT let alone the bar. The only thing he gets a "positive" mark on is an HIV test.

Most lawyers only have three of post-graduate education.
I stand corrected, as I am writing when I should be sleeping. ::) I should know, given the amount of college friends I have who went on to complete law school.
Nevertheless, do you think our resident 19 year old know-it-all really has a law degree? That was my point. ;)

He's a precocious young un. Already knows more about steroids than men who have been using for longer than he's alive. WOuld probably take him only two days to be ready for the bar.

how foolish of me to doubt this brilliant young man's intellectual ability

You missed one but I won't say who. Not sure if he wants people to know

In the land of the "free" you can easily get sewed, hence the amount of lawyers.

People have complex in their job and they think the lawyer is the high status job.
For me 90% of lawyers are fraud. I will never ever respect them.

lawyers are scum.
We recently had a case here in germany where some russian heroin addict and notorious thief killed a 33 year old woman by throwing a big pice of wood from a highway-bridge into her car. She died in front of her Husband and her 7 and 9 year old kids, who were with her in the car.
Now why was this drug-addict stealing piece of shit still running around? Because he had some lawyer who convicted the court this fucker was harmless.
Another thing is the lawyer of that austrian asshole who imprisoned his daughter for 24 years and had 6 kids with her. His lawyer is stating "that he has been a good and caring father, no monster. He could have killed them all, but hasn't".
What an asshole.

I own a personal injury chiropractic practice.
We deal with about 50 law firms.
I have found that most of the attorneys are pretty good folks, and only want to do their best for their clients.

Moose you are living the life!
Epic, let me tell you:
Depends on how you look at it.
In my business, ANY business...its all marketing.
I must market my ass off...work 100 hrs per week (this and marketing business), and THAT is the only way to make money in practice.
VERY hard to make substantial $ in private practice today.
Become like a 'high tech factory worker'...but it can be done.
PI practcie most lucrative kind...but very complicated and many headaches.
Thus, thanks to Getbig for stress relief!

Two exams down, one to go... The law of trusts and equity.
Hurrah!

Yes...but depends on your perspective.
The biggest thieves are the monolithic insurance companies, IMO.

Haha. When I was a student in Kyoto. I had several Yakuza friends and they were all nice guy and do the best for their clients. ;D ;D

Hurrah!
Good luck, man. Kick ass!
Note:
My best friend, who is becoming a judge in two weeks, graduated from University of Chicago Law.
He said the Bar exam was toughest ever (25 yrs ago)
He said one group of grads studied their asses off, right up till bar.
He and his friends partied nearly right up to hour of test.
He and his bros passed, couldn't say about the others!
-

The TOP ceo in health insurance industry, UNH (at least several years ago) has net worth of over 1 billion.
Makes over 100 mil yearly.
I am all for capitalism..but...WTF?
-
The majority of law students are dead eyed, souless vermin. They would sell their own granny for a training contract.

DK: when you need an atty (and you will, eventually)...you will want him to kick arse for you.

I adjucnt at QWuinnipiac University in CT, has newly-acquired law school(last 10 years)...and your words ring true re law students.

My whole family is infested with lawyers.
You are totally right, but i guess that you would also agree that if a lawyer will do anything to keep a man out of jail who imprisoned his daughter for 24 years and raped her since she was ten is an asshole that could need a good whoppin. :-X :-X

Most definitely.
When I started practise 18 years ago...I was young and intimidated.
A-hole lawyer screamed at me on the phone and hung up on me.
Real professional.
15 years later...I am dealing with same lawyer on phone...I recall him...him not me.
He wants me to cut my bill for his client.
Of course, in his case (and I usually do iof necessary)...I cut nothing from the bill.
I remember him being an a-hole...and nothing changed over ensuing 15 years.
So there it is./
-
Everbody hates lawyers...until they get into legal trouble.
-
Lawyers can choose there clients unless the judge orders the lawyer to represent.Like DK said with his examples these lawyers can abstain from representing these parasite clients.
-
This is why I will never understand lawyers - the bastards will sell their own souls for money.
What = wrong with that?
-
Get rich the American way:
Sue somebody ;D

His lawyer is stating "that he has been a good and caring father, no monster. He could have killed them all, but hasn't".
unreal!
-
When asked how his client could have beaten, zapped with a stun gun, choked, injected with morphine, and burnt alive in the trunk of a Jaguar, Craig Titus's attorney said, "He could have killed her but he didn't. She died of smoke inhalation, completely unrelated to the beating, stun gun zaps, choking, morphine injections, and accidental car burning."
-
I've employed many lawyers. One of my best friends is a lawyer. I hate lawyers. I Iove lawyers.

Did he actually say THAT?

Is this attorney that came up w/the name Fred Hitterman ::)
Ed, you must be joking about that quote?
-
I don't have a problem with criminal lawyers... everyone is entitled to representation. It's the tort lawyers who take bullshit marginal cases on contingency, class-actions, etc who are ruining our country.
I think "ruining our country" is a bit overstated, bro.

18-Year-Old Kathleen Holtz Passes the California Bar
Posted by Peter Lattman
Two years ago, the WSJ broke news that Kathleen Sullivan, the noted constitutional scholar and former dean of Stanford Law School, failed the California bar, notorious for being the hardest in the nation. (Sullivan passed the second time around.)
Today we have happier bar-exam news about another Kathleen — 18-year-old Kathleen Holtz (pictured). Last month we introduced you to Holtz, a first-year associate at TroyGould in Los Angeles who was awating her bar results.

True-4 years of college and 3 years of post graduate/law school.

That does, of course, go both ways.
I have had patients who are full of shit about their 'injuries'.
I have had those who have lost their homes, jobs, everything from getting screwed by the insrance machine

Many here don't likely know that Montel Williams actually competed in bb prior to tv. I believe the INBF....anyone have details?

lol, I didn't know that.
Montel is a unique man. I believe he promotes the passing of medical marijuana laws in NJ.

Yes.
He was a Navy seal and was stationed on a submarine...first to do something or other up that avenue...don't recall what but it was unique.
He was giving a 'say no to drugs' type speach at the White House when Nancy Reagan espied him as someone to listen to...then got his tv gig and here you are.
Has MS...I guess he endorses MM for pain control...sorry to say it likely will not happen.
Was making 10 million per year from tv contract alone prior to last show last week.
Had beautiful wife and kids until she unceremoniously tossed his clothing onto the front lawn of his mansion (formerly his)here in CT
-
BTW...in all respect...I don't think he was too successful as a bb...but tv seems to have worked out just fine
-
Two exams down, one to go... The law of trusts and equity.
Hurrah!
I done my trust and equity one on wednesday. Tough as fuck. Choose beneficiary principle and 3 certainties as one question, breach of trust as the second and charities and cy-pres as third. Tough as i was sick and got next to no sleep. doubt i done well enough
One more on thursday and all being well ill be John. D. Goudy LLB lol

Question here, Moose. As someone who's experienced extreme pain, do you believe marijuana is a good alternative to opiates? Safer even?
I find it good for relaxing the muscles and for pain treatment. I remember when I hurt my right shoulder I had trouble sleeping because I couldn't even roll around in bed. Marijuana tended to mask some of the pain and helped me get through the night.

Hmmm.
Being fair...and never having smoked pot...I couldn't say. I'd aver that opiates would act in a more circumscribed and effective way...but likely with worse long term potential health effects (in a bad way, natch).
I am living with 4 week post total right should reconstruction right now...I know whatcha mean as far as sleeping (or, trying to!).
Sorry I could not give you a better answer...hope you feel better.
Nothing has given me more pain than RSDS...Have lived with it for years...kept me in hospital for a total of over one year!:

You guys likely already know that you will truly learn to be lawyers when you are out in the field...in actual practice.
School usually incorporates the never-never land of theory.

Hard thing is in NI we have lots of diff statutes for laws...mainly cos terrorism etc for lots of things. But it makes learning english and NI cases/statutes difficult.

Nah, mate. Same as you - not quite for me at the moment.
I'm joining the Royal Marines at the end of the summer, of all things.

No lawyer in the world has to take a client.
If you are a Public Defender, or on a defender list, and you are ordered to take a client you have to.
Slime balls are guaranteed certain rights under the Constitution-and if you are in court you HAVE to have a lawyer for the proceedings to be fair.
In the old days before it was requried a prosecutor could convict anyone unrepresented, even a ham sandwich, just because they knew the complex rules of procedure and evidence.
-
Even if they are ordered to take these clients, they can abstain.
No lawyer in the world has to take a client.
in evolved societies if you cannot afford one, a lawyer is assigned to you and if assigned, you can still fire them
-
Has anyone mentioned Melvin Goodrum Esq. ($35 a month Legal team)
-
in evolved societies if you cannot afford one, a lawyer is assigned to you and if assigned, you can still fire them
sure you can, but my point was that vice versa, a lawyer that is assigned to defend a guy that killed 34 kindergarten kids with a toothbrush over 3 days does not have to take the assignment. (made up case)
THis leads us to the point that the lawyer wha will take this assignment has to be a heartless asshole.
-
Sat my final law exam ever today.
Thank god that's over.
-
fucking girl mine is on thursday only 1hr though as i choose to do coursework. getting reading printing stuff now...proving to be tricky enough
also lawyers are the genetic elite on GB.
-
At 12 and a half stone at 5ft 11, I beg to differ.
Just had three hours of trusts - Brutal! A girl started crying when she read the paper.
Good luck Thursday.
-
cheers man...dude the university was peppered with sick last wednesday every single bin...lot of nervous people...im sure lots of people who done well all 3 years bottled it and fucked up. shame.
mine was equally bad...though i never cried...much lol
