Title: Dave Bourlet - How about a little respect for him
Post by: Boost on June 09, 2008, 01:07:34 PM
Dave doesn't get the respect round here that he deserves 8)

He is all about the fans and takes great photos to keep everyone updated on the Champ's (Cutler) progress and the venice beach lifestyle.

True Rags to Ritches story as well.....he had a dream just like Arnold

"When DAVE BOURLET took over the Max Muscle Venice store from former owners FLEX WHEELER and ROBIN CHANG on July 1, 2004, it was the culmination of years of work and some California dreamin'. The Montreal native had uprooted his stakes to pitch a tent on North America's left coast 11 years earlier, with a gauzy vision of a life in bodybuilding and $150 in his pocket.

Through a little persistence and a bit of luck, Bourlet got himself an entry-level position with Max Muscle corporate soon after relocating. By 1997, he had earned himself a salaried position. By the time he took over the now-independent Venice store, he had become the regional manager of 10 Max Muscle franchises, including Venice. The rest, as they say, is history."

Dave seems like a nice guy...WHY THE HATE?

Dave catches heat for being somewhat of a one-sided jay Cutler supporter.

But after ragging on the guy for 5 years, he's been a good sport.  Gives it and takes it. I like the guy.

I think he's more on flexonline these days.  Would be good to see him on getbig more.

Dave is fast making the MaxMuscle store the new Mecca of bodybulding in Venice, CA. He's one of the most honest and genuine people you can meet in this business. The haters have nothing better to do.

"Kills" back? Why do bodybuilders always use words like, "destroy," hammer," demolish," or "blast," when describing a work out?

Why can't they just say, "I am going to work back?" Does it make them feel more hardcore to use the words described above?

True, but there's conditioned behavior in any scene, like certain words, gestures, do's & don'ts, etc...

What are specific conditioned behaviors that exclusively tend to be displayed by tennis players?

The language, such as it is, stems from Weider.  In the early 70s he started using blurbs on the cover of his magazines the likes of "How Arnold Terrorizes His Thighs!"  The mags would refer to the champs "bombing and blitzing"  their muscles as though in a attempt at making them out to be really hardcore.  Even Arnold told Weider ((or so he said in an interview years ago) that the use of such phrases was ridiculous.

I suppose the Weider Schmoetocol Principal demanded it.  Among other "things"...

Correct, I have been in charge of all video production for Muscle-Insider.com since August and I love it there.  I'm shooting almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day.

We just released that behind the scenes photo Michael Neveux photo shoot with Mike O'Hearn and I am presently shooting a 6 parts Series "All Access" with Fitness Olympia Champion Oksana Grishina leading up to the upcoming Arnold where she'll defend her title. You can check out all the vids on our site or on our You Tube channel at Muscle-Insider TV. I never saw this thread before till now so for those of you who left nice comments, thank you!

P.S.  Kev, I love you too bud.  :)

Very cool of Dave to work on those videos for Muscle Insider, and I will see him most likely at the Fit Expo again this year (this will be my 11th year at the Los Angeles event).  Last year was most interesting, and who knows what will happen this year.

Dave has his moments, as we all do, especially when it comes to protecting his friend Jay.

He isnt because we know Scott welch isnt paying him anything Muscle insider is a cheap magazine that comes out once every 4 months, youtube may throw him a few pennies for the whopping 800 views otherwise, like most bodybuilders they live like rats probably sells pills, steroids, gay 4 pay and does "personal training' or "diets" or something.

dave is a good man...no doubt about it

Hated on getbig.com = successful in real life and vice versa.

Dave worked his way up in the corporate  world related to fitness/nutrition.
Thus, he has a real job and makes actual money.

There is a really good chance the man may even own a home and is NOT living in his mom's basement.
