Title: This man makes his living as a personal trainer: Would you hire him
Post by: flexingtonsteele on June 13, 2008, 09:22:28 PM
print in bold = small, close minded foolish way of thinking

 :D

first i need to read more then i read too much

the only reason you grow AT ALL from working out is because you create trauma to the muscle which activates things called SATELLITE CELLS that signal for your body to come down and repair and build up the muscle tissue

they are normally dormant and in most human beings they only get activated after physical injury occurs... but as a bodybuilder you are constantly tricking your body into using these satellite cells to make you grow more muscular..

you know how guys will say, i want to hit my upper chest, my middle chest, my lower chest, my inner chest..so i get a big full chest ??   why do you think hat is ? if all you do if flat bench, then most of the tension from those sets occurs on a portion of muscle fibers in the middle portion of the chest. and all the trauma from that sets occurs in those fibers. and only satellite cells in those fibers where trauma occurs get activated. so only growth occurs where those satellite cells were activated, and only satellite cells get activated where trauma occurs.
 ;)

take some notes old man youve ben taken to school and NO haters theres no google no copy and past no referencing others this is straight from the brain and 100%acurate

I wouldn't hire him, he tries to think too much. It's weighlifting, he's trying to turn it into rocket science.

Well I wouldnt hire him because he's 19, on more anabolics than any IFBB pro, looks like shit walking around at 20% body fat with an ISSA personal training certification that he earned just months after dropping a cocaine and meth habit.

Wouldn't hire someone for something I can do myself. Has he even hit 200lbs yet?

Just because he might not be a great trainer doesn't mean he can't be hired to do dishes and laundry and stuff.

Has he thrown up a pic of himself at 230 or do we have to use the old motorcycle pic to go by?

You can have all the book knowledge in the world and it doesn't make you a better trainer. Just like anyother trade, you can graduate but the real knowledge comes with YEARS of CEU's and most of all hands on knowledge. Do you think a doctor for example (not comparing PT's to Dr's) just does his/her 8-10 years of schooling and that's it, their done learning for the rest of of they're careers?

I agree and this prooves the point even more so that cumdrilled is not a good PT , just like every single post he makes exposes his lack of hands on experience and years of training under the belt.

If Candi uses his before and after shots as marketing the general public will be all impressed an hire him. 80% of people who hire trainers are either filthy rich, or morons. So if he attacks the moron/fat housewife segment he is good to go. I lost a ton of weight when I was about 18, slapped up before and afters, and the morons flocked in record numbers assuming since I lost weight, they would too ::)

Exactly. People want results. Most of the public don't give a fuck about the logic behind their training

What do you guys think of reverse-grip benches for tris?

Good exercise but it's difficult to unrack the bar when you are training alone.

I made a post ref Candi, you hopped in all aggressive and seem to be looking for a fight. Okay then, I'll play :)

If you really think people who paid me some puny sum at age 18 is the "hand that feeds me" - just oh boy on that, needs no comment. Plus, I said morons or rich and the present clientele at my gym falls into the rich category, something I have mentioned when discussing the gym business prior. Judging by my business revenue over a decade, people very much seem to like doing business with me, which actually is my end goal - not your misinformed opinion.

Talking about building muscle. You could do pushups at home and get a pump.

I would agree with you. I see Joe's angle though, as he is one of the few that work with actual pro athletes so he has a need to get technical.

80% of the time, PT is basically telling showing someone how to do some basic stuff, and saying 5 more. I did well in the niche by getting wealthy clientele - but all I was doing was telling rich folk to do 5 more for a greater cost in very nice surroundings.

Exactly, most PT's are counters, the just stand there and tell clients what to lift and how many.

If you go above and beyond that and teach your clients why they are doing what they are doing, then good for you.

PT Joe gets all butthurt anytime  the PT market gets insulted, he takes counting very serious.

Set up a diet/workout program, like the one you followed to get ripped for your show, except without the drugs. There is no event and what kind of testing do you do?

Yup though I see where Joe is coming from, he just needs to see they are talking about the rest, not the tiny upper tier. I own a gym, work little and when people claim there is no money I can only laugh. Joe should just do the same as he is well above the $30/hr beancounter crowd.

No, don't get me wrong. Increasing knowledage is great. I spent many years doing the same, as tbh - getting the very highly paid positions being some counter just won't cut it, need knowledge, personality, papers etc. Good luck..

I think this is the mentality that keeps alot of people from working out to being with:  "find your target heart rate, work at 70% of that, gotta do testing before starting a program, only MY program works, blah blah blah"

go to gym, lift weights, run on treadmill, go home
