I've had this thing for a while and I never do the distance workout, mainly time since I do the elliptical.
Today I went out and ran a quick mile on a track. Now I know 4 laps = 1 mile.
However the Ipod told me I had completed the mile @ maybe 3 1/2 laps.
My question is which is accurate? I'm going to assume the track but how exactly is the nike fob calculating the mile and is THAT accurate?

haha oh brother. why not just do as much cardio as you feel like doing and leave it that. epic new to dieting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for not replying to my desperate messages! haha yes
-
It probably depends on which lane you are running in.

Cardio sucks.

It probably depends on which lane you are running in.
Quoted for truth.

It doesn't matter which lane you are running in - in a 400m race at the Olympics for example they all run 400m irrespective of what lane they're in.

lol, wtf?
So in a 400m race, some people run less/more than other people in the same race, because they're in different lanes ::)
-
you need to calibrate it.
-
You will notice in a 400m race, the starting lines are not all even. Closer to the inside you are the further back you start. :P

Yeah, but you still run the same distance!!

it's like a pedometer. There should be a function where you calibrate it to you steps...not everyone's steps are the same due to different height/strides. My wife uses hers all the time. It seems pretty cool though I never used it.

Yeah, but you still run the same distance!!
I think the point is that if you start on the start/finish line in lane 8 you will run further than if you start on the start/finish line in lane 1, that is why in a 400m race the starting point for each lane is staggered.

haha, i can imagine QueerStreetCruiser now with his little Ipod nano armband and tight shorts. HA HA LOL OH BROTHER.

Yeah, but you still run the same distance!!
Oh webcke, you are priceless ;D

Ding Ding! Give this man a prize, yeah I have one, need calibrating before its accurate.

Seriously are people really that stupid that they can't understand the complexity of a track? We need Adonis to come on here and copy and paste a bunch of blueprints, schematics and technical data of the avg high school running track.
