And you wonder why guys that actually know how to train and eat don't listen to probodybuilders.  They are all drugs.  That guys form sucked balls.  And I'm sure his nutritional advice is probably even worse.  Most pros couldn't tell you the difference between an alpha receptor and a beta receptor or the difference between glycogenolysis and lipolysis yet they are all "experts" in bodybuilding.  LOL.  Let alone let them try to explain the inner workings of an androgen receptor, half lives, and basice steroid pharmacology.

I'll have to disagree with you on the basics of training and eating being easy.  It's taken me years of experimenting with my body, training, dieting to figure out what works.  I wasted months and years listening to advice in the musclemags to no avail.  I went to the dark side and made great gains but of course half of that effort went away when I came off.   I'm just now starting to make better progress than I ever have, naturally.  I was stuck in the 3 day a week split, 6 meals a day bullshit for years.  I'm now working out 4 days a week and eating three big meals a day and my gains are excellent.

Bob knows about bodybuilding......i.e. the "sport".  He knows the competitors, the shows, the inner workings of the industry, he's a great promoter, a great stage hand.  But what does he really know about training and nutrition?  Would he even know how to read a study out of the JAMA or NJOM?  What is his education background?  Nutrition? Physiology?  Has he even written a book on training and nutrition?

It's not Rocket Science MM...................... take in 30 - 40 grams of protein per meal ,space em out every 3 - 4 hrs
low fat,low sugar....medium carbs (rotate ur daily carb intake ) train hard/heavy on the basic movements
get plenty of sleep/rest,do ur cardio ...take ur "supplements............. ....Bob doesn't need to write a book
he knows/knew enough to slug it out for years and turn pro!

What I don't like is how all these pro's/top amateurs train like pussies. You're lucky to see 1 freeweight movement when a video is recorded at Gold's... pathetic.

Im sure Bob would have no problem training someone like himself i.e. a genetically gifted drug using mesomorph.  But if some lanky 6'5 ectomorph came to him and he used the same training and diet advice he used on himself the poor kid would never make any gains.  People come in all shapes and sizes.  No one protocol works for everyone.  And a majority of the protocols used by probodybuilders will not work for average drug free trainees.  Sorry.  If they did you wouldn't have young kids scrambling to use steroids and the latest greatest supplement.

Bob laid a foundation first with the heavy basic exercises, squats, benches, rows, etc., he backed off of them later on but even he would admit that he built a lot of his mass that way.

I just have to laugh at some of the comments that get posted here on GetBig.

Bob Chic is probably one of the most down to earth guys in the sport, after seeing many videos he has done. He's straight up with the posters here, and is one of the few top bodybuilders that presents a good side to the sport. So why all the hate?

As for the juiced to the gills comments, if you are on GetBig for more than, say 10 minutes, you figure out that the use of performance enhancing substances is part of the professional game, whether you like it or not. It is what it is. But there are many who have used steroids that look like crap. So what's the rest of the story? And please, spare me the "hyper responder" BS. Would actually knowing how to train and diet also be part of the story?

Oh, I forget. GH15 says it is entirely drugs, no matter what. Hell, might as well close down the gyms, since they have no effect.

Yeah I don't buy that "all drugs" thing. It's bullshit.

The things that go into being a top pro are:
Training
Nutrition
Genetics
Drugs

In that order.

Nutrition/Diet is pretty much the whole ball of wax!
anyone can lift weights................. .it's the dieting/nutrition that sets the wannabes apart from ones who experience success

So you're saying if I ate EXACTLY how you did, down to the minute and the calorie I'd look like you?  LOL.  If I eat exactly like Jay Cutler and train EXACTLY like him I'll look like him?  Your argument is retarded and makes no sense at all.

Genetics
Training
Diet/nutrition
drugs

In that order.  Genetics dictate everything.  How you partition calories, how you respond to training, how you respond to drugs etc.

Knowing HOW your body responds to training methods makes a decent bodybuilder a better one. An example would be Dorian Yates. He figured out the perfect routine to get his body where it needed to be. The next step was manipulating his nutrition correctly, then the genetics would come into play, with the drugs being the aid and final step. Dorian's response to drugs and training wasn't top notch as first. He had to figure things out and experiment more than most. It paid off.

That's why I said

Training
Nutrition
Genetics
Drugs

Do you even understand what genetics are?  Like I said they dictate everything.  Recovery, partitioning, insulin sensitivity, GH production, Test production, down to things as simple as leverage when doing a certain movement.  No other "sport" relies as much on genetics as bodybuilding.  Only 2% of the population could EVER look like Ronnie Coleman with all the drugs, special diets, and perfect training.  Why is that so hard for you guys to admit?  Does it hamper your own personal goals and ambitions?  If anything realizing your genetic potential should free you and allow you a sense of peace within.  Otherwise you'll constantly be trying to achieve something you never will. Hence why so many guys turn to steroids and drugs.  They think it will give them that edge and make up for shitty genetics when all the top guys have the drugs + genetics.  Mike Arvilla will never have the physique of a top pro bber  now matter how perfect his "ball of wax" is.  No matter how many drugs he uses or no matter how perfect his training is.  That's GENETICS!  I'm sure Mike probably wishes he was 5'9-5'11 instead of 6'2.  Taller bodybuilders are at a huge disadvantage in so many ways.  I know I'm 6'5.  Do you honestly think Dirk Nowitzki could EVER be a professional bodybuilder no matter how hard he trained or how perfect he ate or how many drugs he took?  Of course not.  Bodybuilding operates within a specific spectrum of somatotypes etc.

That's not true.  There are PLENTY of guys that eat like shit, train hard and heavy and "look" like a bodybuilder.  It's their genetics.  and they don't take drugs.  Nutrition is NOT everything.  If you don't train nutrition doens't mean shit.  You'll just turn into a fat slob.  If anything training and  nutrition are equal, neither being more important than the other with genetics dictating how well you respond to both.

I'll answer a question with a question........what about the Asians?  When was the last time ANY Asian bodybuilder made it into the top 10?  G E N E T I C S.  What's funny is genetics plays such a huge role at the top echelons of bodybuilding but yet for those in the lower ranks and even recreational bodybuilers.......geneti cs is like 4 or 5 on the list of importance?  LOL.

Of course.  If you've got one guy that has great genetics but still doesn't eat right, is lazy etc.  And you've got another guy with not so good genetics who does everything perfectly he most certainly will go farther than the genetically gifted guy.  But what if both guys do everything right?  Someone with not so good genetics has to rely on the guy with great genetics fucking up somewhere along his training or nutrition?  LOL.  Or in the most extreme scenario both guys do everything perfectly.  The guy with not so good genetics has to take 1500mgs of test a week vs. the guy with great genetics who only has to take 500mgs of test a  week.  And so you have the field of bodybuilding competition in the 21st century.  If you have a dream of going far in bodybuilding what's that say?  A genetically average guy will encounter the genetically gifted guy at some point in his career and his days of competition or over.

I'm not downplaying Genetics................ .that's a given, fact of the matter is 90% of us don't have superior bodybuilding genetics ...........so for those of us not in the "genetically elite" category nutrition is a HUGE factor
i see guys in the same gym year after year and they always look the same/never progress
WHY
NUTRITION ........(they don't eat enough/eat enough of the right kinds of foods)
they are there training hard and heavy (but skip/miss meals etc etc)
