it's so fun you dont even realize youre having a workout, especially when you go up hills. i ride all around, i feel great and my legs get some good pumps from riding.
riding a bike while drunk is awesome too. smoking a joint while riding a bike is amazing as well.
i live in queens, ny. im planning to ride out to montauk, which is the tip of long island. anyone ever do it? i know they have tours that go there, but i plan on doing it with some friends and getting a hotel out there and making a 2 or 3 day vacation out of it.
and the seat going up my tush feels great too, big plus there.

great post brah

I rode all over NY for years. If you've got 3 hours a day to spend on a bike it's sufficient for getting in shape, yup.
-
Running over people riding bikes is much more fun.

Personally, I find supersetting a couple of Brazilian chicks to be the best cardio. But hey, what works for me might not work for you...
-
no, SWIMMING is by far the best cardio

I've always heard that swimming while the best makes you that much more hungrier because it's so intense. You end up eating back the calories you burn
-
Hahaha...just don't turn into the bitch I did and start riding to lean up for summer and never go back to the gym! Don't worry though fellas, i'm just on a little vacation while the summer wanna be's get burned out! ;)

thats great man. im going to do the 5 boroughs tour this spring. where did you ride around?

swimming can tire you out much quicker and tires more muscles, but biking is still way more enjoyable than doing laps in a pool. with biking you can ride all around different neighborhoods, see many things in one workout, enjoy the outdoors, etc. its just the BEST!

i know how you feel, sometimes i just feel like riding my bike instead of going to the gym but i keep myself in check i dont want that to happen. sometimes though, just riding around can be so much more enjoyable then going to a gym thats crowded, has weights scattered all over the place, and plays the worst music ever( LA fitness). but i cant stay away from weight lifting.

Mainly Manhattan, especially up to and through the Central Park loop, which is great. The kind of hills there are one of the only ways that i'd say that biking's as good as other forms of cardio, other than doing it for much longer periods of time. I'm sure you've done Central many times. A little riding in to Brooklyn and Queens, wanted to go from the lower east side across the bridge then along the water in brooklyn to coney but never did.
Definitely more enjoyable than most other cardio, the only downside with biking is that unless you do it for long periods or time or for very intense shorter periods it's not as effective in terms of time used compared to other cardio for strictly fat burning. But much more enjoyable, and the best way to get around the city most of the year including winter as long as there's no snow. :D

Biking through Fresh Meadowns and Flushing is pretty fun 8)

Much more fun riding cyclists over in your car then reversing over them!

Take a spinning class for cardio. You meet some fit chicks as well: :)

But, nothing beats biking outdoors. Who doesn't want to ride a bike like this:

Lots of women who enjoy the bike: :)

i havent gone to central park that much. i live in queens, kind of near nassau so usually when i do riding i go from queens to nassau and ride around there more then i go from queens to the city.
what youre saying is true, biking may not be as intense or effective as other forms of cardio in terms of calories burned per min, shortness of breathe, etc. but it really so enjoyable. if you use biking as a means of getting around as much as possible and do it consistently throughout the weeks, it really is a good way to stay in shape. keep riding man.

How is it like to ride a bike there. I live in a part of The Netherlands where there isn't much traffic, relatively, and it's in general pretty safe for bikers here.

say goodbye to your nuts riding a bike like that

that fag rides bmx bikes but lovveees him some bodybuilders

The drawback to riding a bike on actual streets is getting hit by a car.
Knew a guy who used to ride all the time until he got hit. Very bad for him.
Those racing bikes are uncomfortable and kill your testicles.

I don't trust people enough to road bike like a lot of people do. A lot of people i know go on long rides on the weekends and ride down the shoulder of a 2 lane country rode. Doesn't sound like fun to me.
Since i moved to a city with plenty of terrain and good climate, i go trail riding a couple times a month. It's great exercise if you keep a good pace. I'm just not a fan of riding in town, seems like a good way to get ran over.
They have some downhill bike courses nearby the ski slopes in the summer, pretty intense stuff. Looks like fun, but i haven't tried it yet. Some people travel from all over the states to hit these slopes, they are good people, lots of hippie types living out of a travel trailers. Met a few cool people just trail riding around. Very down to earth people.

I eat a lot of beans before I swim and it gives me a motor boat effect.

Even wearing those spandex nut huggers , my lower nut sac/inner quads get chaffed.
Plus, my butt crack and anus feel like I was bum rushed like TBombz in a bunny suit.
If I used a bike for reg cardio, I'd need a mega supply of butt paste.

Biking is cool but I never sweat by swimming lapse. Swimming > Biking
Surfing is far more exhausting than pool swimming , fighting waves totally kills pool swim.
Try diving trough 2-3 meters high waves (+ fighting current/rip) & you'll get chisled !.
I feel sorry for those who don't live near the ocean !.
Riding giant waves is another galaxy !.
