I think Keto is the first phase of Atkins diet.

As far as I can remember, Atkins diet starts out with a Keto diet and then gradually re-introduces carbs until a maintenance phase is reached.

I did keto like 4 years ago. I really liked it for the frst few days. Dropped 8 pounds of water in 2 days. Earing bacon and eggs nonstop - that rocked too.

So on keto you would just have carbs with breakfast and then your only carbs would be from veggies for the rest of the day? what about post workout?

Not sure how heavy Quakerfat is, but I'm 225 at 5'11 at the mo. Lost 5 pounds and the last couple of weeks. getting lean for summer!

Keto as I know it is practically no carbs. Only a few watery veggies are allowed.

keto refers to ketosis, which is a metabolic state where a big portion of your brain switches from glucose over to ketones (by product of fat metabolism) for fuel.

the atkins diet and regular keto diet includes a lot of non heart healthy fats as well-like bacon and butter etc

The keto-type of diet is usefull in certain situations, like a bodybuilder who has been bulking all offseason and needs to diet to get into contest shape this would be great, or if you want to cut up for something like spring break, but it's pretty hard to stay on this diet for long periods and lift.

no u are partly wrong about the muscle loss-as long as u have the right amt of protein fats and your training is good u will not lose muscle

low carb diets sustained for more than 3 days = 30% weight loss coming from muscle
I hope this is not true, cuz I have to diet my ass off to win Getbig III >:(

well on Atkins diet you can enter into and out of ketosis quite a bit. so the two are one in the same really.
a zero starch diet is not "shittty". in fact its very healthy and reverse allot of metabolic disorders. its very 'shitty' for anabolism, true, but for fat loss in obese individuals its very effective.
one thing people don't realize is that 'ketosis' is not some magical fat loss state. one ,meal containing zero starch and some meat protein will alter your metabolic hormones to dictate pretty much entire body fat metabolism. switching into 'ketosis' spares another 20 or so g of glucose, but other than that it has no benefit (besides psychology) over a simple low carb diet. a zero starch diet with high veggies intake is healthier and more efficient at burning fat than a similar diet without the veggies. but many people don't have the mental fortitude to diet on low carbs unless they are in ketosis.
