Ok 10 days to go, making this the official thread showing who you thought would win 10 days before the election.
I'm calling it for Obama to win, and I'm predicting he will win by 3 percentage points and 330 electoral votes.
-
be cautiously optimistic, not cocky
remember Kerry
-
tough one...id say Obama is too far ahead to catch and the number of early voters drastically affects McCains ability to turn it round in the last few days...
having said that, I think it's extremely difficult to call, I think 330 pretty optimistic Matt I dont think he'll swing it by that much
-
Obama.
The Democrats want it.
The vast majority of America wants it.
The world wants it.
Those who give the GOP their marching orders want it.
-

Don't think thats being cocky, just more realistic. Yes Kerry was ahead in the national polls which really mean nothing. However Kerry's electoral map is much different then Obamas map. By nov 2nd 2004 2 days before the election Kerry had 242 electoral votes vs bush who had 296 electoral votes. Its basically now reversed and Obama has a huge electoral lead on mccain. So Kerry had the lead in the national polls, but was behind bush by 54 electoral votes. Anyone watching that election should have known that bush was going to win since he was far ahead in the electoral vote. Now the same can be said for Obama as he is far ahead in the electoral vote to mccain.
The news stations will continue to try and make this out like its going to be a close race, and so will the Obama camp, however the fact that mccains camp is falling apart and theres internal break up in the mccain camp tells alot. The news stations want to make it a close race so they have something to report on, Obama will say its a close race so his support stays strong and he has a good turn out on Nov 4th.
So I'm not being cocky, just more so realistic with my prediction.
-
Actually looking back at the national polls Nov 1st 2004 bush was ahead 48.9% to kerry 47.4%. So again this is a totally different election then Kerry or Gore. Do not compare those elections to this one.

I hear ya' bro.
I'm just saying that you don't want to count your chickens before they are hatched. :)
I want Obama to win as much as anyone, but these polls make many of us nervous. Things definitely look very good right now, but it would be devastating should Obama come up short. Most of us who voted for Kerry could not believe our eyes when the day after the election we realized America voted for four more years of Bush.

Yes you're right its not over tell its over.
However i dont see why people thought kerry was going to win when he was 54 electoral votes behind bush 2 days before the election?.

Rev.Wright will win :
http://articles.latimes.com/2008/apr/17/nation/na-taxes17
The couple paid nearly $1.4 million in federal taxes last year, and made $240,370 in charitable contributions. Their largest gifts were to the United Negro College Fund ($50,000), the international relief organization CARE ($35,000) and Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago ($26,270).
I wonder how much he will get if Hussein will win :-\

OBAMA By one of the most historic landslides in American History...
From your lips to God's ears!
I want to see the most crushing defeat ever handed to a political candidate in history.
I want it to be sooo bad... McCain goes postal, gets drunk, and meltsdown on national TV ala René Levesque
Soooo bad that the little redneck from Alaska declares "Thank God I don't have to marry this bitch anymore!"
So resounding that the joy can be heard all around the planet, ...and the ET's decide mankind has finally earned the right to continue living on the planet. So strongly that Palin declare's she was always for Obama and her gaffes on the campaign trail were designed to help him win. I wouldn't put it past her ya know.
-
Still too soon for a clear call.
I still believe McCain has a chance if his people can figure out exactly what the public's BS tolerance is.

the stench of defeat lingers over your every post ;D

McCain will win... At this point with talk like this through all the media, 5 to 8 percent will not show up and vote confident in Obama's lead. That will make it actually neck in neck at the polls and the rest will be flipped by diebold or whatever they call themselves today ::)

I agree with you that McCain will win. He will get 51% of the pop. vote.
Americans are just too stupid to look out for themselves anymore. Sad but true.
Most of the Americans on these boards cannot even properly write IN THEIR OWN NATIVE LANGUAGE.
How the hell would you expect them to vote properly?
-
Obama will win in a close election. Obama will pull out the electoral win with room to spare but the popular vote will be very close.

Is this really true? And this is the president who will represent all of us? Seems pretty focused as what they really support....minority and international efforts.
-
Like her or not, Hillary got f-cked. She should have been our next president, she was the most qualified, the most capable and I feel would have represented nearly all in the nation equally.
-

Oprah fucked her because she was white. Had Obama not ran, Oprah would have maybe endorsed Hillary because she's a woman and she would be the new POTUS.
-
Hillary couldn't have won. She's one of the most hated and polarizing figures in American politics.

So is George Bush and many people are dumb enough to compare McCain to him. I think she would have won personally.

They (the Clintons) have more dirt and dead bodies associated with them than anyone. We would have had to hear about state troopers, extramarital affairs, Rose Law Firm, etc... forever.
Here's my $0.02: Republicans had total control and messed everything up. They just didn't want to take the chance that Hillary could remain in history forever.
Remember, Hillary is such an attention whore that she refused to stay out of the public eye long enough for the Ill seat to open up. All she had to do was wait a year and Barack Obama doesn't exist as an obstacle.
McCain can still win if Obama makes a lot of mistakes or if they get people afraid of a black president.

Who did you donate $240K to last year?
-
Who did you donate $240K to last year?
Let check how much he donated before he made lots of money from the book? You do remember its tax exempt ;)
-
McCain but I can't say whether it will be by a narrow or big margin.
-
Obama's more white than black but he plays the black card for all it's worth.
If you guys believe the polls that say Obama's ahead... well if you believe political polls period, you're a sucker! The pollsters will do everything in their power to influence people's thinking... but at the end of the day, they have their own credibility to worry about... which is why you see the poll results mysteriously tightening up as election day draws nearer, and McCain mysteriously surges upward in their "results."
I don't think any of you on here remember what a liar and a snake Biden is--think about his unsuccessful 1988 presidential bid--his lying and plagiarism were the fodder of late-night talk show jokes for weeks. I don't trust that guy as far as I could throw a handful of hot glue.
Oh, another interesting little item... according to the Congressional Record newspaper... police chiefs in major metropolitan areas around the country are bracing for two distinct post-election possibilities:
1) Rioting by Obama's supporters if he loses
2) Rioting by Obama's supporters if he wins (a la the "NBA Championship syndrome").
Yep. Kinda makes you wonder about the mentality of many of Obama's supporters. I think they have him built up in their minds as some kind of messiah who is going to solve all their problems. Personally I don't wake up every morning wondering what my government is going to do for me today. But that's just me.
I'm not crazy about either of our candidates but I definitely feel like McCain is the lesser of two evils and I do believe he will be victorious on election day but it's gonna be a close race... whoever said it's gonna be a landslide--in your wet dreams buddy!
-
Obama basically bought the already left media and the pollsters.
He spend so much of his billion dollar of fraudulent contributions on them that they can't say he isn't winning...they just want more that of that sweet cash :-\ :-X
-
Let check how much he donated before he made lots of money from the book? You do remember its tax exempt ;)
Look it up. All of their personal finance records have been released. I honestly cannot remember but recall their combined income being around $170K before the books started selling. She made most of the money.
Getting the financial records of McCain and Clinton were not easy tasks. Remember, Clinton loaned the campaign $20M of her own money.
Edit: His 2000-2006 tax records are on the web site. They made a little more money than I thought and she definitely made the real money.
-
Remember, Clinton loaned the campaign $20M of her own money.
Didn't Obama give it back to her? How is that not crooked? People donated the money to him, not her.
-

I believe there are some pesky laws that prevent a direct 'gift' like that. I'm guessing nothing's been done yet because there hasn't been a "$20M for Hillary's endorsement" scandal.
I also don't get the whole "Hillary deserved to be the President" mentality.

1.You missed the point, trying to make them seem so generous is bogus since we know they had plenty of income to get tax exempt on.
2.Donating to that fucker Wright is plain wrong, especially from a senator and even more so from someone who later condone him...come on now...how much of a hypocrite can you be?
3.Link me bitch! Which site exactly? ;D
-
I tried to watch the last McCain-Obama debate... I really did... I couldn't stand it for more than a few minutes before I had to change the channel. Seeing the grandstanding and showmanship and posturing on both sides was more than I could stand... I guess there's a reason it's called "politics." Anyway it made me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty pocketknife.
I'm pretty sure I couldn't spend more than an hour 'inside the beltway' without kicking someone's ass. I basically despise all of those pompous power-hungry windbags whose bottom line is basically doing whatever is necessary to further their own careers and remain in office... I hate politicians in general and think there's some kind of mental disorder that makes them want to be there in the first place.
But I'm gonna be completely honest... I love Sarah Palin... at first I thought choosing her as McCain's running mate was political suicide but the more I thought about it, it was brilliant... I really like her and I think she's going to make an awesome vice-president! :) And besides, she has a sweet ass... face it... Whoever gets elected, you're going to be seeing them on TV, newspapers and the internet for at least the next 4 years... wouldn't you rather have someone who's easy on the eyes? ;D

Newspaper shows Obama belonged to socialist party
Democrat's campaign denied allegations, but new evidence indicates membership
By Aaron Klein
© 2008 WorldNetDaily
Excerpt from New Party publication (Courtesy New Zeal blog)
JERUSALEM – Evidence has emerged that Sen. Barack Obama belonged to a socialist political party that sought to elect members to public office with the aim of moving the Democratic Party far leftward to ultimately form a new political party with a socialist agenda.
Several blogs, including Powerline, previously documented that while running for the Illinois state Senate in 1996 as a Democrat, Obama actively sought and received the endorsement of the socialist-oriented New Party, with some blogs claiming Obama was a member of the controversial party.
The New Party, formed by members of the Democratic Socialists for America and leaders of an offshoot of the Community Party USA, was an electoral alliance that worked alongside the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN. The New Party's aim was to help elect politicians to office who espouse its policies.
Among New Party members was linguist and radical activist Noam Chomsky. Obama's campaign has responded to the allegations, denying the presidential candidate was ever a member of the New Party. But the New Zeal blog dug up print copies of the New Party News, the party's official newspaper, which show Obama posing with New Party leaders, list him as a New Party member and include quotes from him.
The party's Spring 1996 newspaper boasted: "New Party members won three other primaries this Spring in Chicago: Barack Obama (State Senate), Michael Chandler (Democratic Party Committee) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary). The paper quoted Obama saying "these victories prove that small 'd' democracy can work."
The newspaper lists other politicians it endorsed who were not members but specifies Obama as a New Party member.
New Ground, the newsletter of Chicago's Democratic Socialists for America, reported in its July/August 1996 edition that Obama attended a New Party membership meeting April 11, 1996, in which he expressed his gratitude for the group's support and "encouraged NPers (New Party members) to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration." Becoming a New Party member requires some effort on behalf of the politician. Candidates must be approved by the party's political committee and, once approved, must sign a contract mandating they will have a "visible and active relationship" with the party. The New Party, established in 1992, took advantage of what was known as electoral "fusion," which enabled candidates to run on two tickets simultaneously, attracting voters from both parties. But the New Party went defunct in 1998, one year after fusion was halted by the Supreme Court.
Following the initial reports of Obama's purported membership in the New Party, Obama associate and former Chicago New Party activist Carl Davidson posted a statement on several blogs claiming his former party was not socialist, but he admitted it worked with ACORN. "[The New Party] was a pragmatic party of 'small d democracy' mainly promoting economic reforms like the living wage and testing the fusion tactic, common in many countries but only operational in New York in the U.S. The main trend within it was ACORN, an Alinskyist outfit, which is hardly Marxist," wrote Davidson.
But the socialist goals of the New Party were enumerated on its old website.
Among the New Party's stated objectives were "full employment, a shorter work week, and a guaranteed minimum income for all adults; a universal 'social wage' to include such basic benefits as health care, child care, vacation time, and lifelong access to education and training; a systematic phase-in of comparable worth and like programs to ensure gender equity."
The New Party stated it also sought "the democratization of our banking and financial system – including popular election of those charged with public stewardship of our banking system, worker-owner control over their pension assets, community-controlled alternative financial institutions."
Many of the New Party's founding members were Democratic Socialists for America leaders and members of Committees of Correspondence, a breakaway of the Communist Party USA. Obama attended several DSA events and meetings, including a DSA-sponsored town hall meeting Feb. 25, 1996, entitled "Employment and Survival in Urban America." He sought and received an endorsement from the DSA.
According to DSA documents, the New Party worked with ACORN to promote its candidates. ACORN, convicted in massive, nationwide voter fraud cases, has been a point of controversy for Obama over the presidential candidate's ties to the group. In 1995, the DSA's New Ground newsletter stated, "In Chicago, the New Party's biggest asset and biggest liability is ACORN. "Like most organizations, ACORN is a mixed bag. On one hand, in Chicago, ACORN is a group that attempts to organize some of the most depressed communities in the city. Chicago organizers for ACORN and organizers for SEIU Local 880 have been given modest monthly recruitment quotas for new New Party members. On the other hand, like most groups that depend on canvassing for fundraising, it's easy enough to find burned out and disgruntled former employees. And ACORN has not had the reputation for being interested in coalition politics – until recently and, happily, not just within the New Party."
