cant wait for that fight!
-
Randy always finds a way
unless his age has finally caught up with him
-
I don't know the line on this one.
But if I can get 2.10 or better I'm gonna put some money on Randy.
I basically see him a the slight favorite actually for a couple of reasons:
He's one of the smartest fighters ever, can control a fight, control the tempo.
His stamina is legendary.
Brock is much bigger, will gas much quicker because of it.
I see brock coming out in the first round, releasing hell on Randy. If he can weather those first 90 seconds, and I think he can, he'll gradually take over the fight and stop Brock in the end of the 3rd.

the only people who will beat brock are very good Jiu Jitsu guys
stand up guys and wrestlers.......forget it, they will get owned

Randy's jitz is top notch right now. He had Vinicius Magalhaes join Xtreme Couture and he along with Jacare have been tightening up Randy's ground game. Vinicius actually has said he's impressed with Randy's Jitz and that he's on a black belt level. Also Brett Rogers reportedly was giving Brock fits in training and even knocked him out twice (one of the times he was out cold), to the point to where Brett was scolded by Brocks handlers and eventually left Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts academy on bad terms. Randy will be a game opponent, we won't see him get steamrolled that's for sure.

betting companies have brock as the favorite

Randy may have improved his JJ, but he's still a wrestler, and I think his chance is to outlast Brock, something I obviously think he will be able to do.
I could be wrong of course. But Randy has tons of experience and seems to be able to use it well.

Brocks last fight he went three rounds and looked like he could do three more, don't underestimate his conditioning.

the dude had to have 1 hour long pro wrestling matches at one time, tough as nails
if anybody else 300 pounds of muscle landed on their head like this, they'd be dead
:o

The power rangers beat that in realism

Brock is a beast, the only big thing Randy has him on is Experience and skill in the cage. Brock is bigger, stronger, I wanna see who is quicker, a better wrestler I think, so what does that leave Randy with.
The only way I see Randy winning is if he can out last Brock's furry and grind something out in the late rounds. The only problem with this is I think Brock will be able to keep up even in the late rounds. The dude is a monster HW with stamina and I am sure he won't be coming in with shitty cardio for a chance at that belt. I just don't see Randy being in a good position other then if Brock makes a big dumb mistake and gets subbed.. WE SHALL SEE?

Exactly, he made a mistake in the Mir fight and got subbed, but until that point he beat the shit out of Mir, even Mir said so after the fight "I survived that guy"
-
...,so what does that leave Randy with.
Randy has it all over Brock with intelligence.
Brock gets caught by Mir after all that prep, gets ko'd twice by his sparring partner...
Randy by submission.
-
Brock wins in the first round...
-
I'm thinking a lot of people are underestimating lesnars hand speed when it's standing up and I can't see Couture getting lesnar off his feet too easily...
I'm still pretty conflicted when I try to visualize how this one is gonna play out..

That was a long time ago ..Also rehearsed ...It's different when someone is trying to choke the life out of you ,also trying to kill you with every kick and punch he throws..Randy will do well.. He's a skilled thinking fighter..Even when in trouble ..
Brock on the other hand ,is a brute..he has a game plan..Once taken out of his groove ..will he be able to wing it ?

I think Randy's best shot is to sink in a guillotine, but, Brock has been training with bjj world champ Rodrigo "Comprido" Mederios. So, I'm guessing they're working a lot of sub escapes. The thing about Brock is that he seems willing to learn.

I can't believe that people actually think Brock has a chance. Lesnar is a freak, and someday will rule the division, I agree with that. But come on...this will be his third fight. This is MMA, there is strategy, technique, and most importantly, a mental confidence and toughness that only comes with experience.
Lesnar is pulling the same shots as Kimbo in a way. He has mystique about him, that is why he is where he is. He puts asses in the seats. And more power to him for that. But don't be fooled....
What happens when Randy beats his face in? Has he ever been cut? had his nosed smashed? legs turned into hamburger? has he ever had to look out of one eye when the other is bloodied and fractured? See Randy will prey on shit like this.
MMA is a very technical game. RAW power helps, but is only one element of the game.

I completely understand the game. When told that someone is great in JJ I always ask if they have been hit in the face while doin it. JJ is hard to do when your getting your fists slammed in your face.. However it's like Brock said he is getting this shot because he is a world wide name. How many people world wide know Cheik Kongo? Now ask yourself how many people world wide know Brock Lesnar, there is no debate why he is getting a shot.
However I don't think Randy can handle Brock. Dude will be coming in at 275-280 of pure strength. Randy has troubles with bigger guys, Barnett.... The other thing is Brock isn't a dummy, He can control possition he owned Herring and never let the dude move. I know Randy is not Herring but I don't see him doing much to Brock.
Brock is a much better fighter then Kimbo and is a top ten HW in the world in my book and he just begun. Dude is Fast, has heavy hands, tech. wrestler, strongest dude in MMA I am sure, he just needs to add a few things to his game and get some more fights under his belt (Which Randy is holding)

I have to disagree that Randy has problems with big dudes. The Barnett fight was long ago...Since then he has demolished Gonzaga (slammed him several times) and he dominated Silvia. Randy is aware of his abilities as he ages. If you noticed, he was a completely different fighter against Silvia.
As a fighter you look for weaknesses in a fighter. Besides Brock's wrestling ,and brute power, there is really nothing he excels at. How good is his JJ? How about his striking? We know he has power, but quickness in his punches? How about his submission defense?

The two big guys you talk about didn't have Brocks wrestling strength. Neither one of those guys are wrestlers nor know how to control position. Brock is an excellent wrestler, look at his record.(Not talking WWE ;D) Gonzaga and Sylvia's wrestling skill compared to brock's is like Brocks JJ against Nogs.
I think that Brock's striking will be decent this time around. I don't think his striking is that bad, shit it's not the best, but with size 4xl gloves anytime he hits you or grazes you that shit going to do a small amount of damage. I don't know if Randy is going to be able to choke out brock? Heel hook is what I would expect, I can imagine Brock picking randy up if he were to armbar, dude is a fucking mule and 230 aint shit to brock IMHO...
-
I am going to go for Lesnar on this one.
Couture is the better fighter, and had he been 40, i could have seen him pulling it off.
He beats him on experience, skills, intelligence, fighting instinct, but i think Brocks size and strenght will wear him out.
Brock's been training and fighting for a while now with topnotch fighters/trainers, i don't think he's near his top, but i can see him winning.
Couture is 45 now, father time will catch up on him. I think this is the last big paycheck he wanted (even though its not against Fedor) and then call it quits.
This is how i see it: during the first round Brock is pushing the pace, Randy is able to hold him off. Nothing big happens.
Second round: Randy gets more and more tired. Brock ends the fight by ground and pound halfway through.

I read somewhere that Brock said that if the fight goes into the late rounds. He said he is good to go 25 minutes, but that it will be bad for randy because he is going to have to be fighting and pushing and holding back close to 300 lbs and he has never had to do that.

Brock has better cardio than most light weights.

Wrestling will bring a man down, but how are you going to finish a guy with wrestling? Look at the Heath Herring fight. He landed one big punch and put Herring in la la land (even admitted by Herring) Then all Brock did was lay on Herring the rest of the fight. Now it was a win, but Randy would never fall for that or allow that. Let's put it this way....not one of the current top UFC contenders or UFC champions is one dimensional like Brock. Bottom line in MMA...you can't skip steps to the belt. There have been many that have tried...but it all plays out in the end.
Another thing to remember, Doesn't really matter how much Brock has improved, can he bring it on fight night? So far all we have seen is one hard punch and some wrestling. Let's not mention how he got caught by Mir. Yes Frank Mir...the same one who was shut out by Brandon Vera. Who is not exactly Couture. I am also sure that Randy can slam a 280-300 pound man. There is more behind it than just strength.
But either way, we can all pick our favorites, nobody can deny it is an interesting match up ;D

One thing we both agree on is that this will be a fucking bad ass fight.

I agree with the first round. But the second is where Brock starts to gas. Third is where Brock gets caught.

You're kidding right? Brock has the conditioning to go all five rounds at full speed.
-
The winner is Dana White. PPV profits for this event will exceed 40x the total payroll for all the fighters and overhead for the venue.
-

When has Brock ever shown us he can go 5 rounds? I must have missed that fight?? It really all talk at this point. We saw him lay on Herring for three rounds though.
All smoke and mirrors to sell a mega-fight. Like I said earlier, Brock is the UFC's version of Kimbo. Albeit he is much more talented than Kimbo.
Does everyone forget....this is Brock's fourth MMA fight. He might be a freak, but this is not a strongman competition.
I like Brock and the popularity that he brings, but anyone that thinks he has more than a lucky chance, truly does not understand the sport.
He couldn't finish Herring after he landed his "4XL" gloves on him in the beginning of the first round!!
Bottom line...What MMA skills has Brock shown us? All I have ever seen him do is throw a couple of punches and shoot on people. Where is everyone getting that Brock is on Couture's level?

BSB said that you were on that bridge in Minnesota that collapsed and you died. Stupid me I believed him. Well, glad you aren't dead.

Whatever happened during the Herring fight, at the end Brock looked fresh and ready for more.
Nobody is saying he is on Coutures level, however he is a straightforward beast and I think it may be too much for Randy to overcome. :)

In the Herring fight he went just three rounds, but I agree, I am sure that Brock has the cardio, just have not seen him pushed yet ;)
Once again, RAW power and being a beast is just not enough in this level of MMA. There is nobody currently or recently in the UFC that wins with just power and strength. If you can think of someone, let me know.
Don't be fooled by the Brock's "huge power" claims. Just a way for the UFC to fool the noobs.

How can you not credit Brocks wrestling? You never give credit to the man's college wrestling history. It's not like the guy was only a WWF wrestler.

I did give him credit for his wrestling :) Tell me how his wrestling is going to finish the fight? Remember, being on the ground is most likely what Randy wants. Is his wrestling going to help with his submission defense? Or what if Randy stuffs his take downs. I know it may seem impossible, but ever see someone get caught with a knee while shooting on someone. The best wrestling in the world is just not enough these days.
Brock is limited in his MMA abilities. This is what will hurt him. Just give me one example of someone that is limited like Brock, and is a champion or in the runnning? Please...and I will shut up ;D
By the way....remember Houston Alexander? Remember the hype? Same story. He was exposed numerous times.
