It was in Flex it must be true
-
that's not Dorian's workout.
-
On flex forums, Bev Francis' husband Steve said he watched Ronnie do 150 lb dumbbell lunges in the parking lot, and that in his prime, Ronnie was crazy with his workouts. I dont doubt the original post, Ronnie use to have a hard work ethic, long before he got someone to put the weights on, carry the dumbbells, etc.

-
hahahahaha, that was the biggest bunch of bullshit Flex ever printed, 585 barbell rows for 3 sets of 10-12, 500 piund bernches for sets of 12, 800 for sets of 12 on deadlifts. ::)

Yes. The editor who wrote "Squats: 800 pounds. 5-6 sets of 2-12 repetitions" should go write "IDIOT" on his forehead.
You know he tried to justify it with the video, hence the low number of 2. That's just sad. Insulting to the readers. I guess it makes Ronnie appear superhuman, but it makes you wonder... why lie on this one particular article? Do you lie in the others? or just this one?
FLEX serves a purpose as good, general info for those learning to lift. but those numbers are embarassing.
-
i think the article meant 4 sets finishing with those poundages.. not his heaviest poundages for 4 sets
well thats what i got from it when i read the article when it came out
-
Bottom line.. That Workout was pure and utter, grade AAA USDA certified, bonafide bullshit

Your right. 800 lb squats, 5-6 sets, 2-12 reps means that he did 5-6 sets of squats. His heaviest set was 800 lbs. His highest rep set was 12 and his lowest rep set was 2 reps for one set (the 800 lbs). Not that he did 800 lb squats for 5-6 sets and got 12 reps with 800 lbs. Come on people.

exactly that is what i got from it when i read that issue....

yeah but it doesn't say that on the deadlifts, bb rows and benches it just says 3 sets of 12 on those.

I'm assuming youve watched one of ronnies videos before. Barbell Rows. 1st set 225X12, 2nd set 315X12, 3rd set 405X12, 4th set 495X10, 5th set 585X10.
so there you go. Barbell Rows 585, 5 sets, 10-12 reps.

Well shit then i do 385 for 5 sets of 1- 20 (my first set is 135 for 20) my last set is 385 for 1

There you go, you finally figured it out
Today isnt a wasted day after all ;D

he never did the 585x10, 495x10 was his heaviest set.

I wasnt using his video as an example of his max set. Ronnie use to train a lot harder before he messed up the disc in his back, and since then he's squatted 800 for 2 (on his video). I was using the video thing to show how Ronnie progresses up in weight, and at the time of that flex article (I have no clue when it was published) he might have done 585 for one set of 10. Again the point being that he didn't do 585 lbs for 5 straight sets because people were misunderstanding how the article was written. Nowadays he goes much lighter.

Is he shown in his training videos squatting in a suits with heavy knee wraps?

All bs aside, ronnie is a freak of nature. End of story

"800 pounds 5-6 sets, 2-12 reps"
::) ::)
I'm more than happy to translete...
Sets: 5-6 (pyramid)
Reps: 2-12
Maximum used weight: 800 pounds
Hope that helps.
;)

i'm 99% certain the most ronnie ever rowed on video was 495 for about 6.

yea your probably right. On his video he probably rows that. I havnt watched one in a while. But my point was that on his video was after he dislocated the disc in his lower back. Just like for example in one of his videos (i dont remember the titles) he does lunges in the parking lot with 135 lbs. And Steve from Bev Francis gym said he saw Ronnie in his prime do lunges with 150 lb dumbbells at his gym's parking lot. Ronnie probably went heavier before he got lazy, and i use that term loosely. He's still stronger than i'll ever be but he got into the habit of other people loading his weight, taking long breaks, not carrying his own dumbbells, etc. Again I dont know when that flex article was published, it coulda been after his videos or it coulda been at Ronnies prime.

Agreed. Given the fact there was no need to embellish Ronnie's true numbers in the first place, the guy was the strongest bber ever. Period.

your bench and bb row should be about the same

I think Mr Magoo sees it the most clearly (joke intended), the article was just written poorly.

I laughed out loud at calves twice per week as an addendum! :D
