I consider warming up with anything less than 405 to be a waste of time.

quaker do you think it's decent for a 21 year old former ecto/naturally weak  to perform the following lifts:
- 5 reps 320 lbs CG bench
- 5 reps 140 lbs DB bench press
- 4 reps 200 lbs added (in a belt) on dips
- 31 reps with 220 on FULL squats
- 10 reps 405 lbs deadlifts
- 8x110 lbs DB shoulder presses
- 20 reps 110 lbs BB curls with no/little cheat
- 20 full pull ups at BW 230 lbs morning weight (I think I'm 16-18% BF, not higher though)-

Man we are very similar to each other strength wise. You have me on a couple i have you on some.

I have you on squats dead, shoulder presses dips dunno about barbell curls.

we are about equal on DB press, i done 13os incline before

Title: Re: 315lbs how many reps
Post by: MarvinEderFan on January 20, 2009, 12:55:12 PM
you definitely have me on squats. I suck at those. I do go as deep as I possibly can, with the bar way high on my neck & narrow stance, so it's definitely the type of squat one is weakest doing...but IMO better for the quads. I also have my heels raised by 1.75 inches

My best incline is 8x132 lbs DBs. Overhead extensions 8x150 lbs. also, BB cheat curls:  176 lbs, a lot of cheat up but slow down for 5 or 6 reps, don't rememer, and 10x155 lbs using the same principle (but less cheat).

i was fucking about doday making sure i am 100% from my injury and did 25x220lbs earlier very easily ass to grass.

you have me on inclines.

standing strick bb shoulder press i can do 5x95kg never tried more... thats 209lbsx5 from clavicle to lockout

i can chin with around 120lbs attached for one strict rep from a dead hang position

Title: Re: 315lbs how many reps
Post by: MarvinEderFan on January 20, 2009, 01:08:43 PM
Standing shoulder presses, very impressive. That means you're close to 220 lbs. I favor DBs because of habit/comfort...and my delts seem to like them more.

you get 4-6 more reps lifting only 15lbs less?that seems a little odd.

3 reps at 170lbs (173-174lbs to be more precise). I don't even flat bench 225lbs anymore though. Inclines I never go above 275lbs. I get a great contraction with that amount of weight and trying anything more is just an ego thing. Flat bench is close to completely useless. Some people build a great foundation from flat benching but it just exacerbates problems for many others like myself. Dumbbells and incline BB only, as far as benching is concerned.

Okay I waited to post on here till I tried this.  At my peak I did 23.  Today was the first time I got under a bench press since around December of 2007.  I thought of this thread the whole time.  So after a few warmup with 135 then 225 I put on 315.  I did two reps barely.  The first one went up okay and I wanted to see if I could do one more.  I did it without any kind of help.  But it was really hard.  I truly feel when I first got under the bar how weak I felt in my triceps and chest.  But mostly my triceps.  I have NO arm strength at all.  I have been doing more leg (mostly calf and hamstring) and back in the gym then cardio.  I have only been back for a couple weeks.  But I want to see how long it takes me to get to 10 rep with 315.  Hoping not to long.  I will be testing my shoulder strength next week.  I may hit 10 reps with 315 on the front press before my bench.  We'll see.  But I know I can do it.  Well see about the muscle memory.  I am also 50 years old now.  But I really don't feel the age will restrict me at all.  We will see

Epic BS.  315 for 19 does not equal 405 for 9.  The best bencher in the world Ryan Kennelly can do 405 for 20, but you are doing 9 rightttt  ::)

the process of getting obese is very unhealthy... simply being obese... not really too unhealthy.. "the heart has to work harder" well...only really if all the extra weight is muscle... heart doesnt have to do much of anyting at all if all the weight is fat...  and workign out makes the heart work harder... more work the heart does less time it lives...

We will see
good to hear. Keep it up!

booooool.........shit.

Haha, I figured you're ass would comment, that's why I posted. Believe it or not bro, strong guys come to this board, but I'm not going to quit lifting and sulk during my time in the gym because the famous Squadfather, QuakerOats, or whatever alias you decide to hide behind doesn't believe me. Hate on.

On the "stuff"
225: Don't know, never tried it
315: 19
405: 9

Not on the stuff
315: 16
405: 5

And yeah, it this was on the bench. Figuratively speaking though Wolfe is getting his dick sucked from behind by $2000 hookers while we're all under the sheets using a Dirt Devil vac.
good lifts man

good lifts man

Thanks. I guess there is so much bullshit that goes on here at these boards that nothing really can be believed anymore. I just like throwing my shit out there to start a firestorm, albeit true....nobody likes to accept anything here. I acknowledge the fact that there are definitely some bigger and stronger guys that come on this board and that even though to some my lifts may seem "big" or whatever adjective you'd like to use I'm an ant in this iron game. Some people just can't deal with that I guess.

anybody and has a passion for lifting can see that those lifts are feasible... on the back of that who decides whats feasible?
anyway.. good lifts man a lot of people on here dont like people who are bigger or stronger than them... or with better genetics for gaining muscles
ignore them welcome.. good to see another serious lifter on board

Quacker I did 22 reps and then had to run a mile, it was a contest called the Mt Tabor Muscle Run there were over 700 people there, hell ask Nikki she was there, i used to do 415 for 11, 460 for 6, my best total bench was 520 at a bodywieght of 242 this was done at Byron Beebes gym in Coos bay at the Oregons best bench contest 1993. I won the best lifter there too.
