Joking. Drink it till it makes you sick... although i've heard some people complain it makes them hungrier. I have personally never tried it during a diet. Some people live off of them. I'd imagine if you are sensitive to it all the artificial sweetener could cause some gas or intestinal discomfort but i live off of splenda packets when i diet and will eat like 12 of them at a time if i have a sugar craving.

Don't do it!

I found I was at my fattest and most disgusting when I was drinking a 2-liter of diet dr pep per day.
Without it, I'm on tea, water, etc. And I weigh less and look better. Zero calorie still, but not all the crap that's in diet soda.

diet soda tatse like junk food so it might give you junk food cravings thus diet soda may lead to consumption of junk food.
this is why you see some studies showing that people who consume diet soda have higher body fat levels than people who dont consume any type of soda.
psychology of the act. not the act in of itself.

There was a study reported in the newspapers...

You're fat because you overeat. Not because you drink zero calorie soda.

studies have proved the reason fat people drinking diet soda doesn't work is because they over eat in other areas. expecting the diet soda to have an effect

thats a simplified way to say what i said.... yes... exactly... its not the diet soda... its the fact that drinking diet soda is an easy choice and it still tastes like junk and the person still wants junk...so they still eat junk.. people who drink water and tea's...they never taste junk, so they are more used to 'healthy' tastes..lesss likely to want 'junk'...

There isn't really anything that can ruin your diet - I mean apart from obviously harmfull chemicals there is 0 carbs 0 fat 0 everything, the reason fatties get bigger while drinking this is that they can make you hungrier, but if you're on a diet anyways,.

and you over drink because you want to escape reality

Haven't you noticed that most people who drink diet soda are fat? I think there are studies showing it is just as bad for you as regular soda. Man up and drink water. Now if you'll excuse me I have a refreshing Mt. Dew to get to.

You "think" zero calorie soda makes you fat? Why don't you post these studies. How does something that doesn't have a caloric value make you fat? Im confused.

NO diet soda cans to research here but wouldn't the salt content of these diet drinks have some adverse effect on dieting?

The more salt and water you consume the less water you are going to hold. You will also be a lot fuller.
-
Lots of artificial garbage in diet soda, i'd avoid it.

There is a lot of artificial garbage in a lot of things.... why avoid it? It has no calories. If it keeps you from binging then why not drink it?

no

"The more salt and water you consume the less water you are going to hold. You will also be a lot fuller."
Leaf, can you offer me more details on this? Or refer me to some web site that explains it in complete detail.
I assume that you mean holding less water is advantageous in a BB contest.
If so, when do you load up on salt during your contest prep stage ...... and how much salt and etc., etc.
I never did understand this "salt" business.
Thanks

Leafy has gone beyond shredded, he is a poster who knows his stuff

Yea, BB, so I've heard. That's why I'm asking him basic salt questions. Might as well just ask an expert rather that spending hours searching all these boards.

This article explains it. I think a disciplined bodybuilder could drink diet soda with no problems but there does seem to be a correlation between diet soda and obesity.

Anytime you add something new into your diet last minute it's going to cause a shock to your body. That's why you see these people who do low sodium and then they end up getting a little bit of salt into their diet and they bloat up like crazy. Consistency is the key to anything so if your salt and water is high it would be no different then have your salt and water is low. Water in high amounts is a diuretic. I drink 3 gallons of it a day during prep. I got all this stuff from Jeff Rodriguez. He is the master not me.
