So Pelosi wants to add birth control funding to the new economic stimulus package... It's a nice idea in theory but who's going to see to it that the aforementioned "idiots" use it any more than they're doing now?

How do I know this because my parents were on welfare for about 30 years I was able to buy my nintendo with the welfare checks each month, house is PAID FOR MONTHLY THOUGH WE DIDNT OWN IT, food stamps were about 1000 dollars monthly for 4 kids and two parents, extra 600 dollars in cold had cash each month the checks were always the 5th of each month due to our last name letter. Other than that its very lucrative and I would like to thank democrats.....

Whatever your belief on contraception, this has no business being in the stimulus plan. I love how they still push dollars toward non-stimulus issues. Keep the focus on stimulating the economy.
I wouldn't have an issue with paying for depo-provera shots every 3 months for birth control for empoverished people. That may actually be offered already at the free clinics...not certain. No doubt that we have to prevent unwanted pregnancies, particularly for people who are not financially and emotionally prepared to raise a child.

Studies shows that on average every kid that grows up to become an outsider of the society, eg a criminal or a drug addict, costs on average around $2.5 million dollars during his lifetime for the taxpayers.
I guess you also support spending more money on prisons, having fewer inmates per prison and more resources towards breaking up gang structure, et al.
Seeing prisoners as potential future tax payers and productive units.
I also suppose you support spending more on public schools to raise the general level of education.
And also that you support the volunteer program that Obama is gonna launch for all the kids in USA, letting them pick up thrash, wash graffiti et al. Learn to show respect for grown ups.

In one instance you seem to think that welfare recipients would be better off if they would do something constructive and have routines.
And I definitely think you are right. That would install some character, some sense of self-importance and fortitude in those persons. Moral.

Giving free depo shots in low income areas make a lot of sense on several levels. The burden of responsibility for contraception is less, which is good because many low income people don't make great decisions and are not as responsible as they should be. Depo provera shots are relatively cheap, cheaper than a bunch of condoms, they are slightly more effective and every 3 months, as 240 said. With the democrats pushing more government programs, we'll be financially screwed if there continues to be a population expansion from empoverished families.
I just don't think this, or any other non-stimulus measures, should be passed in an economic stimulus emergency package. Pelosi's idea of millions of dollars of free condoms is stupid.
While family planning sounds good, one study recently in the news found that it did not create any financial savings and wasn't very effective. It has to start in the home IMO. Change the culture and behavior.

(CNSNews.com) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said at her Thursday press briefing that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act—AKA Obamacre—is not a privilege but “a right.”
At the same time, Pelosi also said Social Security and Medicare are rights.
Key elements of Obamacare include a provision requiring all individuals to purchase government-approved health-care plans, taxpayer-funded transfer payments to finance the purchase of health-care plans by individuals and families who earn less than 400 percent of the federal poverty level, and a regulation that requires all health-care plans to cover, without any fees or co-pay, sterilizations, contraceptives and abortifacients for all women with “reproductive capacity."
A majority of the nation’s state governments challenged Obamacare in federal court, arguing that the federal government does not have the constitutional authority to force individuals to purchase health insurance. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on these challenges by the end of this month.
Pelosi made her statement that Obamacare is a “right” in response to a reporter who asked her about a CBS News/New York Times poll that showed 41 percent of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn the law in its entirety while another 27 percent want the Supreme Court to throw out the individual mandate and keep the rest of the law.
“Why do you think that is and what does that say in terms of the chance that the Supreme Court will strike it down?” the reporter asked Pelosi.
