Hamas on Sunday flatly rejected an Israeli proposal for a 10-year ceasefire that includes an agreement to completely open the crossings into the region in exchange for the freedom of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.
The Israeli proposal, as conveyed by Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman to the Hamas delegation in Cairo, also included the release of 1,050 Palestinian Authority terrorists and prisoners to sweeten the deal.
The Israeli proposal was presented by Defense Ministry director of diplomatic security Amos Gilad.
Speaking from Gaza, spokesman Ismail Radwan told reporters Sunday that such a long truce would "kill the resistance, which is the Palestinian people's legitimate right as long as the occupation continues to exist."

Maybe it's time for them to take care of Hamas once and for all. :P

This is not a surprise.
And yet, in the view of most of the world, Israel still takes the brunt of criticism for creating the violence.
You can't negotiate with people who scream for your destruction.

Fuck you're avatar is annoying if you are an American. :-X
In the same way a Mexican/US, Irish/US, German/US, etc.... flag would be...

Also, Hamas attacked an Israeli military patrol on the Gaza strip border and killed 2 soldiers.
I hope Israel will start carpet bombing, I see no other way with them.

Deja vu, all over again (see the Amalekites from the Old Testament).

Got a source for this, Ron? I don't see anything on cnn or any of the other sites.

I think that's the deal breaker there. Most people will reject most any proposal if it doesn't address their desires.
Hamas doesn't care about open border crossings, ...they smuggle what they need in through tunnels all over Gaza.
They want Israel out of Gaza, ...and until that solution is offered to them, I doubt they'll be accepting very many offers.
-

Usually Hamas, especially this time since they killed an Israeli solder on patrol in Israel, after they agreed to a cease-firee, which has now infurieted the top guys in the army because they didn't finish what they needed to, and stayed in Gaza in strategic areas until a formal cease fire treaty was established.
Israel offers 10 years of peace, opening the borders, getting countries to rebuild Gaza, but to Hamas, they can't have this, because the Palestinian people might realize that they like having peace, food and water, some fun and more. They can't control people like that, only by fear.
Obviously, their response was to attack Israel again and kill people.

Ron, ...Hamas wanting peace, is like a police officer wanting a crime-free society.
It's against their interests, ...and they would lose their raison d'ętre.

Wow what a great argument...so if it's against their intrest let's give them all they want.
Maybe it's against your intrest that your pills will work hence people will buy more of them hoping that more will work better than less.
-
If this cease fire were to go into effect and people started to rebuild Gaza, Hamas would have no legs to stand on and ultimately its power would wane among the populace. They're no different from any other power mongering group, they only mask their aims behind the sham that is Islam.

Hey I resent that! :D

actually at the beginning of the interaction this seemed to be their main concern that is the borders being opened now that they which they didnt think would be offered now that it is they have to come up with something else to excuses their actions.
-
we should begin a massive airlifting campaign in which a hundred million tons of weed, guitars, dave matthews cds, and calendars with pictures of kittens and puppies are dropped into the entire affected region.
give it a week and they will all be sitting down laughing, strumming, and having deep emotional conversations with each other.

You're confusing the "citizens" of Gaza with Hamas.
It is the citizens that need the borders open. Hamas has tunnels for the flow of it's goods.

no your not listening, They HAMAS made it quite clear if you watched any coverage of it that they wanted the borders open as any part of cease fire agreement. I know they have tunnels the reason they touted that is b/c they didnt believe israel would concede.

Hamas went on the air and said that's what they wanted multiple times. Maybe you should start following news topics before commenting on them. A 160 IQ and a career peddling fraudulent gas caps will only get you so far.

IM TELLING YOU, lets drop a million tons of weed in the region then set it alight with incendiary bombs, the entire place will be hotboxed and peace will be the order of the day.

If by weed you mean neutron bombs, then yes, I think we should we blanket the entire middle east with "weed".

Shut the fuck up. You're a moron. You've probably never even been in any of these countries you want to blanket with nuclear weapons. I mean shit....with statements like that nothing you say no matter how intelligent it is can be taken seriously. There are millions of innocent people, just like in America, who are powerless to stop the leaders in their government.

Waah, waah, waah. They don't contribute anything to this planet, are most likely on the lower end of the IQ spectrum and spend the majority of their days worshiping some fictional character (Jews and Muslims alike, only Muslims pray 5x a day). Sometimes one needs to realize a bad investment and write it off. Think about how bad that area is going to be once we get off oil. They will have NOTHING. You think the violence is bad now? Hahaha!

yes thats the easy way except then you kill millions of good people as well, and also destry untold numbers of historical artifacts/ history. my weed universal hotbox idea doesnt harm anyone or anything, but instead promotes peace. need the dave matthews cds as well and maybe some good natured porn to keep the occupied with productive things.

The "citizens" of Gaza voted in Hamas, they knew what they were doing an are responsible.

Exactly, they want them and support them.
Most have a choice to do otherwise, in case none of you know the soldier that died yesterday in the attack of Hamas was a Muslim Arab, one of many that are in the IDF.
-

This reminds me of a similar situation that took place 8 years ago.
The citizens of a particular country supposedly voted in an asshole the rest of the world didn't like.
For whatever reason, ...whether it was to punish those citizens or simply to attack the symbolic heart of that country, a bunch of criminals murdered 3000 of that county's citizens one morning, in 2 office towers.
Did punishing the citizens get that fool out of office any sooner? Heck NO. It might have prolonged his stay.
On Sept 10th, he was a clown, an illegitimate prick with no right to sit in the oval office.
On Sept 12th, the entire world had rallied around him.
You don't remove governments by attacking their citizens. That only props them up and gets them more support, ...no matter how heinous they may be in the eyes of the world, ...or the eyes of their own citizens.
You Americans of all people should be acutely aware of that fact.

The main difference and most important one is that Israel doesn't aim to hit civilians and that means everything.

I'm not American.
Israel doesn't target civilians, Hamas does, even its OWN citizens. Hate to break it to you but your comparison is extremely weak.
freespirit, nice image, proves that Israel is entirely wrong and that is should not retaliate to random rocket fire on its citizens, and if it does not to attack Hamas militants from civilian areas (even tho that's basically the only areas Hamas operate from to try and win emotional support from people with fickle minds [such as yourself]).

You mean the way americans voted in Bush....don't complain about the economic situation in america ...IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT.

Israeli Professor:’We Could Destroy All European Capitals’
Jump to Comments
By Nadim Ladki
(IAP News) — An Israeli professor and military historian hinted that Israel could avenge the holocaust by annihilating millions of Germans and other Europeans.
Speaking during an interview which was published in Jerusalem Friday, Professor Martin Van Creveld said Israel had the capability of hitting most European capitals with nuclear weapons.
“We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets of our air force.”
Creveld, a professor of military history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, pointed out that “collective deportation” was Israel’s only meaningful strategy towards the Palestinian people.
“The Palestinians should all be deported. The people who strive for this (the Israeli government) are waiting only for the right man and the right time. Two years ago, only 7 or 8 per cent of Israelis were of the opinion that this would be the best solution, two months ago it was 33 per cent, and now, according to a Gallup poll, the figure is 44 percent.”
Creveld said he was sure that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon wanted to deport the Palestinians.
“I think it’s quite possible that he wants to do that. He wants to escalate the conflict. He knows that nothing else we do will succeed.”
Asked if he was worried about Israel becoming a rogue state if it carried out a genocidal deportation against Palestinians, Creveld quoted former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan who said “Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.”
Creveld argued that Israel wouldn’t care much about becoming a rogue state.
“Our armed forces are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that this will happen before Israel goes under.”

Who cares. There are dozens upon dozens of videos of Muslim sheikhs calling for death, destruction, jihad, beheadings, terrorism, rape and everything under the sun against non-Muslims. People are stupid, be they Jew, Muslim, Christian.
More apologists crying about a non-Muslim saying something like that but playing deaf, blind and dumb when thousands of extremist Sheikhs post their speeches all over the internet.

Yep. Hamas is a terror based group that wants to stay in power and wants the destruction of Israel. This is the bottom line. We can argue details but this is the underlying issue in the difficulty of any peace agreement with Hamas. The palestinians need to vote them out.
