Title: Tony Atlas pressing King Kong Bundy AND Hulk Hogan
Post by: Danimal77 on March 10, 2009, 04:43:34 PM
250 pound Atlas pressed King Kong Bundy (who had HAIR) over his head, as well as 320-330 pound Hogan:

Tony was a beast for sure but that wasn't really a press on either one of those guys, he only got them about halfway up and didn't lock out, still very impressive though.

I think when brock was feuding with Angle, he was arguably the most powerful wrestler for his size ever.

he tossed Henry and Big Show around like little toys...

he was like the Warlord, only agile.

I remember meeting Tony in Balt. in about 84-85. He was absolutely gigantic (upperbody wise). I also remember how nice he was to everyone who approached him.

Tony Atlas, real name Anthony White was the biggest muscular wise wrestler who ever stepped in to the ring.Tony got up to 285-290lbs, and might have hit 300 lbs in that mid eigthies.I talk to Tony now and them he is a great guy.I send him protein creatine and L-Glutamine, HE IS ALAWAYS POLITE AND VERY THANKFUL
Tony in his prime has benched over 600lbs raw,and won several poswelifting titles.
At his biggest his waiste was still 30" yet he had a 60 chest, 23 1/2" arms, and 31" quads.
He was a beast. When I was younger I would train at George Eifermans gym, and when the wrsetlers all came to town thats where they would alll train.
I saw Tony Atlas, the Road Warriors, (Animal & Hawk) and Rick Martel all training at the same time.Tony Atlas Dwarfed them all. This is When Hulk Hogan was running around telling people he had 24" inch arms.Next to Atlas his arms looked like 19" lol.
Just imagine how big and freaky Tony Atlas would be if he had Nitro Tech, Cell Tech, or even Anabolic Halo.He would have been over 400 lbs for sure.If he used Hydroxcut on top of it my god, he would have been peeled to the bone.On a serious note if Tony had the anabolics they had today along with technology they have today, he could easly been oe of the best bodybuilders in the world.ack then the only thing Tony used was some test, and D-Ball, and not alot of either one.He told me the doses, and it was very little for how big he was.A local gym rat uses more gear then Tony did.He is just truly a genetic freak, but he is a great guy

Yep, it IS easier to throw someone if he wants to be thrown. It's 100x harder to throw someone who has skills and doesn't want to get thrown.

Say what you want about Tony Atlas, but he won the Mr USA twice, and won numerious bench press contests. No ther wrestler won a Mr USA contest. If you saw Tony Atlas in his prime your jaw would literally  drop. He was enormous..When he first walked in to George Eifermans gym back in 85 .George Eiferman said" Thats one of the biggest men I have ever seen",he could barely fit through the door".IF anybody knows bodybuilding history George Eiferman was in the bodybuilding industry for nearly 50 years. He was a true icon.He was one of the greats, along with Steve Reeves, who was a dear friend to George.
Tony had a really a very small waiste, round muscle bellies, and a "V " taper that isnt seen today.Has anyone of you seen a  285lb man without a big nasty distended  roid gut?
I havent.

I remember several years ago, seeing a show on MTV that showed wrestlers in various stages of their careers. Tony was the "past his prime" guy. It was really sad. He was trying to put on some tiny show in a small town and he only had a few hundred dollars to his name. I remember him saying, "I don't have a bank account."

I'd bet the guy who wrote the screenplay for "The Wrestler" based at least part of it on Tony.

Goldberg is the strongest Wrestler I have ever seen. A young Scott Steiner was a suplex monster as well.

The most unbelievable thing in that video is at 1:23 when he Catches scott steiner as he jumps of the turnbuccke, and scott is probably 240+
I wonder if people understand the strenght that it takes to do that.

I cant beleive Klausfan thinks this guy has 18" arms and a 50" chest, lol at 285lbs .In my peak when I was 290lbs  I had a 21" arms and 56" chest, and I didnt look 10% as good as Tony Atlas did.
If this is what 18" arms and a 50" chest looks like, then I wish I had 18" arms and a 50" chest.LMAO

He didn't wrestle at 285 pounds. He wrestled at between 230-270 pounds. He was really buffed, but unless you measured his biceps at 23.5" (which would have been 1.25" larger than Arnold's at HIS largest), than I doubt they were what you claim they were. I could believe 21-22" though.

In the early 80"s you were right Tony did wrestle at 250 lbs, but towards the mid to late 80"s he got up to 285lbs.I beleive his biceps were 23 1/2" I seen him stand next to Hulk Hogan who had probably 21" arms, and he dwarfed him.At the same time Hawk and Animal the Road Warriors werein the gym and he dwarfed both of them.I would say Animal from the Road Warriors arms wereeasy 21" arms.
I know what a 21" looks like I had them when I competed.Tony Atlas's arms is bigger then 21" trust me.
The top pic is Tony at 285lbs taken about 1987, the bottom pic is tony at 245-250lbs taken about 1982.If you notice in the top pic, his muscles are bigger and fuller, then the bottom pic.He is leaner in the bottom pic, but not nearly as big, about a 30 lbs diffrence
