Claimed that his leg was almost back to it's original pre-tear form- but I don't think I ever saw him place anything higher than top 10 in the Ironman after I read that article, which would have been around '98-99.

true................Alq said he could not "compete at the pro level without some finacial help"

food,drugs,supplements,tanning,gym memberships.....time needed to eat every 3 hours/train twice a day,cardio etc

all takes it toll in "the real world" tho!

I remember him doing massive volume training sessions, every bodypart twice a week, every week. I guess it was too much for him, in the end.
