Yeh, this is why I'm asking. Heard a lot of good things about it. I was expecting something groundbreaking, but it seems quite basic...?

Also Palumbo recommends to not cut back on  the food for as long as you can.

so you do cardio and when you can't up the cardio anymore, then you can start playing with the diet

how much cardio are you doing?

I started at 30 minutes 6 times a week, and I up it 10 minutes every week.

so I am on the 3rd week, I am doing 50 minutes per day.

I'll go as high as 2h30 maximum, after that I'll cut some fats

It will work of course but seems like an awful little food, especially since apparently he gives the exact same diet to everyone, whether it's a 200lbs bb or a 315lb bb like Martin Kjellström.

If I were to do it I'd probably carb load a whole day at least one day per week. I suspect most would get away with it without taking a step back, the opposite in fact. I.E. something more like DiPasquale's old diet set-up, which I think was great. You could put on muscle while losing fat. Lyle McDonald's UD2 is a great set-up too but probably too demanding for most.

Keto with "healthy" fats.
Works because it has enough protein and caloric restriction.
Like any other diet with these two properties.

That's how I do it.
I usually eat somewhere close to 80g of carbs per day anyway, so that seems to get me through each day without trouble. Long as I keep my carbs under 120g, I'm good. Both on a body fat scale, and satisfaction scale.

low carbs = low insulin = raised gh= fat metabolism

low carbs = low glycogen = low glucose availability = increased useage of fats

when one understands a few basic principles about how the body reacts to the macronutrients, a quick obvious answer to the question "whats a good way to lose fat?" seems to be " dont eat carbs"

its a pretty simplistic approach

however biochemistry and metabolism isnt as simple as that and there are a plethora of other things to consider.

glycogen stores being full results in greater rates of protein synthesis though.

after a few days your brain starts using fat as the main energy source.

actually, I feel better and more energic on that diet than I do when I am off-season !

I don't want to praise Palumbo or anything, he didn't invent the diet.
but it works great for me, I could diet all year long and I wouldn't care

I have found I cope pretty well with low-no carbs. Just feel a bit flat and lose some strength. Add some carbs back in though and I get a big strength increase. I think I'm going to do this for a week or two and see where I'm at.

agreed, this is a much better way to "diet" and stay lean....some people have sweet tooths (teeth?), but I have a fatty tooth.   I did the high protein/high fat thing for a good chunk of both of my shows back in '02 with good results.  Cravings are not nearly as bad, and peanut butter is like dessert to me   :)

If you were getting ready for a show.....Palumbo recommends quite a lot of cardio.

Meal 1 6 whole Omega-3 eggs
Meal 2 8oz chicken with 1/2 cup raw almonds
Meal 3 50g whey with 2 tablespoons all natural peanutbutter
Meal 4 8oz salmon with 1 cup asparagus with 1 tablespoon macadamia nut oil
Meal 5 50 g whey with 2 tablespoon PB
Meal 6 6 whole eggs

That seems a bit low by what he normally recommends.  What is/was your starting weight and what weight are you shooting for?

The one he hands out for a 200lb man is like 5 whole Omega eggs + 4 egg whites as meal 1, protein shakes and ANPB for meal 2 and 4, lean chicken and cashews for meal 3, meal 5 fatty meat meal (which yours looks exactly like what he suggests), meal 6 protein shake + ANPB or more eggs.

You're going to have GI issues eventually, either eat some veggies or use a supplement.

I use a fiber supplement that I bought at Sam's Club called BeneFiber, its a tasteless powder that you can mix in a beverage or shake.

day 3 on the diet... just finished hitting legs and hit 30 min cardio... i feel hypoglycemic.. shakes, nausea, dizzy, blurry vision.. nothing major but noticeable... should i perhaps have a piece of fruit or some chocolate milk or something?

Yeah i just started dieting again and I forgot how much I enjoyed working out and getting dizzy every once in a while and feeling faint  :-\ But it is worth it to get skinnier and make my wang look bigger.

Bascially just not eat that much. Today I had a protein shake with milk for breakfast, protein shake with water as a snack, grilled chicken salad for lunch, protein shake post run and bananna, grilled shrimp and avocado salad for dinner, protein shake and bananna as snack. Today i drank a lot more protein shakes than usual. On a typical day i drink atleast a couple of those protein shakes will be cottage cheese or yogart for snacks.

I have nothing against it. I guess i am just too lazy to really put a whole lot of preparation into dieting. Seems like you have to be really precisely count your protein, fat, and carbs. Plus I still drink on weekends so I feel like that would ruin the affect of the keto diet.

Very true, i'm looking to step my game up when i get in better shape. I am actually sort of dating this one girl. But I have problems turning down an easy girl when it involves no work. Even if she is nasty.

you have to wait 2 weeks to have your first one, after that it's every week.
I eat mine every friday night.

cheat means you can eat whatever you want but for one meal only.
don't go around eating shit for 5-6 hours  ;D

stavios eat vegetables dude, they are essential. offseason, fuck vegetables, just take veggie pill and munch on delicious fruits, lol.

the reasons for veggies are endless

ill list a few of them

-first of all your diet is highly acidic. yourbody maintains acertain PH level all dya long. when your diet is too acidic without enough alkaline, then your body has to release catabolic hormones and takes calcium from your bones and takes glutamine from your muscles in order to balance out your ph LEVELS. meats fats grains, etc.. all acidic. fruits and veggies are alkaline.

- secondly vegetables are high in dietary fiber, a carbohydrate that doesnt release glucose because its indigestable. however the bacteria in your intestines breaks down those fibers into small chain fatty acids and sends those fatty acids to your liver...and when this happens your liver reduces the amount of glucose and thus insulin in the body.

-thirdly vegetables take alot of energy to digest, so mcyh in fatc they have a slightly "negative calorie effect"

- fourthly, vegetables contains thousands upon thousands of vitamins, minerals, anti dioxidants, phytonutrients.... all of which help your body processes work better and more effeciently.

- also, they keep you full!

I don't think Crystal lite is allowed on the palumbo diet as it has a small amount of carbs in it.

They can indeed have a negative caloric effect if your overall calories (ingestion vs. expenditure) are already almost equal. The negative effect insinuates a caloric intake that is lower than the output of the body. Calories in vs. calories out will only be the real defining point.

The vegetables themselves provide very few calories and a lot of bulk. If you were not aware that vegetables require more calories for their breakdown than they actually provide to the diet, you will be in for a pleasant surprise during a cutting phase by their presence.

It does make good sense to throw them into a diet when you are looking for the feeling of satiety and a negative caloric balance.

Now, for all of the fat cows out there, just remember that your body does metabolize energy from fibrous carbs.

Wait, I was talking literally there.

what do you guys mean, "massive" amount of protein ?

the proteins amount is pretty low in this diet, I think it's not ever 1.5g per pound

massive as in, it´s the only thing next to fat what you take in...

the 6 eggs in the morning every day... the shakes, the chicken, tuna, salmon, beef, etc... just some nuts and some green stuff...

What is the taste you're describing like? I think it's more likely ketosis due to fatty acid metabolism than protein intake.

palumbo's diet is awesome.  I am 9 weeks out, and way ahead of schedule.  As far as doing lots of cardio, I'm only doing 45min right now and am still losing weight.  It all depends on how lean you were when you started the diet, and your metabolism, etc.  I did start off at 45 min though and have been eating 6 meals.  I've lost roughly 35 lbs so far and i started dieting 15 wks out.

It's not the proteins that make your breath smell you stupid son of a bitch.

It's the ketones.

You need to shut the fuck up with your inaccurate comments.  Dave didn't steal the idea of the keto diet.  He read on it for many years, and modified certain aspects of the diet to make it more healthy.  You might be right with your opinion of his physique, but what the fuck have you done in this sport besides sit behind a keyboard typing bullshit??

Add some fresh chilli and shallots to your eggs. Try poaching them and having them with asparagus (though only british asparagus is worth eating and only if it is very fresh). Or add cream when scrambling.  Or buy nice eggs.   ::)
