Usually I try to hit it 5 times a week, but even on my off days, I tend to have so much energy that I'll still do cardio..it really helps if you have some type of cardio equipment at your home, I own a treadmill and an eliptical so cardio is real easy I just wake cup down a cup of coffee, throw on Sports Center or a DVD and it goes by in a flash. I usually do anywhere between 45-60 minutes.

You could try Metabolism Forecaster (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1743721&d=1237916634) for estimating optimal caloric intake. I just do it by rate of weight loss. If it slows down below 1lb / week, I would slightly reduce intake (or up cardio if that's more convenient).
